Oh my lord, this was worth the wait, and well worth the price. i dont often come out to these necks of the woods, but i am glad i finally did since i had my eye on 7 doors for awhile. excellent service on a sunday afternnoon. i also enjoyed being seated by the kitchen and watching the madness that is in the prep station. staff was nice, place was decorated well with the theme throughout. the bathroom was one of my favorite parts of the day, it smelled so good and was glittered with goodluck cats. $20 is fairly steep for mushroom ramen, but you're paying for quality here. my noodles had the perfect bite, egg was oozing out the yolk, an abundance of mushroom flavor flowed in the broth. i think i found 3 different types of mushrooms in my soup and loved every second of it. especially the grilled oyster mushroom ( i think this is the name). the wings come in a share of 6, along with a ranch sesame yuzu dipping sauce. its not thick, but pairs nicely on each bite of the wing. the outter texture has a nice bite, and the wing itself is juicy. these are a must get. read more

7 Door Down Ramen had my household on a chokehold when they first opened. We would order takeout at least once a week, but lately their food quality, amount and service has gone downhill. We usually order the same things, and this is not a cheap take out place so even though I do not mind paying for food that is going to make me happy and full lately I have been really upset of spending money on food I have to throw out, or not fill full with. We usually get the Lomo Saltado and the meat quality was almost amazing. Not the biggest portion, but enough to fill you. The entree come with a side of rice and a yellow and green sauce on the side. The last three times the meat size has gotten smaller and smaller, and the rice is filled with oil. To the point where I can let the oil drip off if I tilt the container to the side and the portion is not half of what I use to get. Also, now instead of sending the sauce on the side they add dabs of it to the takeout container. The other dish that had us on a chokehold was the shrimp boa buns. The flavor was so unique and so delicious. The last few times it has been lacking flavor because they are skimping on the ingredients and the last time the shrimp was undercook, but the breading was dark and and looked like it was fried in a very dirty oil. I hope they go back to how they use to be because they were so good before and I loved the fusion they offered. read more

Chef Luis and Rick, the manager, and the entire staff are all so lovely and extremely attentive. I love how modern and simple the decor is. Now to the important part - the food. Japanese and Peruvian cuisine... what is not to love? Chef Luis does such a great job on the creative menu and the ramen broth, specifically the chicken and pork broth, is to die for. The sweetness from the mushrooms in the Tokyo Style Ramen really creates an amazing balance. The Shrimp Ceviche is one of my favorites. Hip restaurant alert!! I visited this Peruvian/Japanese restaurant last night (Friday). There were dimmed lights, candles, and cozy tables. I drank up the atmosphere. I would recommend this place as fool proof for a date or for friends. I don't typically enjoy street parking but there is plenty of parking nearby which makes it pretty convenient. The long beans and tomato ceviche for appetizers were a lovely touch. Both tangy and savory in their unique ways. Their mocktails were refreshing too- tried the faux mojito and the honey yuzu drink. Mint leaves was the cherry on top. For entree, I ordered the mushroom ramen. I love how they bundled the enoki and the taste of the charred mushroom. Mmm. The ramen consistency was also on point. I could easily come back at least five more times in the next year. As a bonus, our waiter was friendly and attentive throughout without being overbearing. What a lovely gem of a place! read more

Everything we tried was phenomenal!! This food is better than that at many NYC restaurants. Super fresh with amazing flavor and texture combos. If you don't want ramen, there are plenty of other things that this restaurant has to offer. My favorite things we ate were the salmon ceviche and lomo saltado. Unique food! What a delightful experience as well. It's a little loud. We got the ceviche as a starter, ramen as our meals, and then the strawberry pisco dessert. Everything was amazing, and the portions were large enough for meals the next day. But I think our favorite part of the night was the strawberry and pisco dessert. Glad that I came back and gave this place another try. The menu became simpler but still featured some classic dishes with some interesting twists. The appetizers were still my favorite of the courses. Calamari with ceviche profile was flavorful. Tuna sashimi got lots of texture from the crunchy quinoa. Next the ramen. I wouldn't expect to see sous vide pink centered lightly seasoned beef in ramen traditionally. The sweetness in the broth wasn't my personally preference either. But the two surprisingly went together very well. I enjoyed it. The noodles were cooked much better than my first visit Desserts were not really what they were called. But both dishes we ordered were satisfying. Service was absolutely improved. The waitress was nice patient and professional. The meal was mind blowing and the server, Andrew, was incredibly hospitable and caring to our daughter, making her meal and ours so special. Went on a Thursday evening for my birthday. The place is cute. We got there around 6:30 and it wasn't crowded at all. In fact I think we we're the only ones there for a while. My one friend was running a bit late, so the sat the other 3 of us. When my friend finally arrived, it took a long time for anyone to come back to our table to take our order. Finally, when the server came back, we ordered appetizers and our main meals at the same time. We had a few questions, and we all had a hard time hearing the server- he was mumbling and speaking softly. For appetizers, we got the shrimp bao buns, the cucumbers and the wings. The food was good, I liked the bao buns best. The wings could have been cooked a little more. We all ordered ramen. When it was brought out, we all asked for chopsticks. And apparently they were out? Not sure how a ramen place could run out of chopsticks, but we were forced to eat with a fork. We did see other tables with chopsticks, so I have no idea what that was about. Not to mention how LONG it took for the ramen to come out after we finished our appetizers, especially considering we ordered everything at the same time. I started off with the Honey Yuzu Lemonade. It came in this cute bear glass and was definitely loaded with that honey syrup! It was a good try but the honey was a bit overpowering for my liking. Good try, nonetheless! They have a good selection of appetizers; out of the ones we got, the Chipotle & Sesame Wings and Coconut Shrimp Bao Buns are a must! The Wings were smokey, crispy, and large in size. The Bao Buns were so well-balanced; from the crispiness of the shrimp, to the subtle sweetness of the coconut, to the spicy mayo, and cabbage. I went with the Duck Ramen since it sounded pretty unique. The duck itself had delicious taste that's tender, moist, and fatty. The poached egg was cooked well and the roasted chicken broth was rich in flavor. There was a bit too much corn in the bowl; I would've rather had more of the delicious caramelized onion! The Chocolate Olive Oil Cake was a big miss. Presentation was lacking, flavor was lacking, and certainly not worth the price. It was beyond different than any other olive oil cake I've had before. I would skip it. They charged a ~$5 credit card processing fee which we weren't informed about. I wish they were more transparent about that upfront (considering most people probably pay with credit cards these days). All in all, great find in the Bloomfield area! read more

Such a cute little spot with delicious small plates! Most of their dishes lean Peruvian with a Japanese flare. The seafood taste so fresh, and according to the server, they don't keep fish overnight and always use fresh fish. They don't have a liquor license but have some interesting mocktails. Amazing. We loved the small plates from the tiradito and tartare to the croquetas and slightly peanuty wings with miso ranch dip. They ran out of the ramen we wanted to try but the lomo saltado was just WOW. Additionally, the person delivering the dish (maybe the chef because it wasn't our server) explained the dish and that the rice is comes with is a palette cleanser which we would have never known. Visited 7 Doors Down while looking for a new ramen place. Ambience is great, very cozy feel inside. Found the kitchen being visible from the table to be a cool touch. Wanted to try the Sloppy Joe Bao Buns, but they were out so we settled for the Glizzy Boa Buns. They were good but probably wouldn't get them again. Tried the Kimchi Fries, and while I'm not usually a fan of Kimchi, I found these to be really good. I had the duck ramen while my girlfriend had the Tokyo. We both had similar opinions, broth was flavorful while having good portions of meat and vegetables throughout the dish. And finished the meal with the Tres Leches tiramisu. My girlfriend and I found this to be a great way to end the meal. Soft cake with a slight crunch to the caramelized top and chocolate shavings. We found it to be the perfect amount of sweetness without being too overbearing and heavy. They also have a good mocktail selection. I was very disappointed in the overall quality and taste of the food. I saw very positive reviews so I decided to give it a try. I'm Peruvian myself so I expected that, for such a high price, the quality of food would meet my expectations, but it sadly did not. The food was very salty, everything had the same sweet base, and the representation of spice in Peruvian and Japanese culture was practically non-existent. The place is going for a very Williamsburg-esque vibe (and price for that matter) but their food is nowhere near that level. I don't mind paying a premium price for high quality food, but this was unreasonably priced given the lack of personality in their flavors. PS. Lomo Saltado has a sillao base, essential to the dish, not sure why it was sweet. Also, $6 for 375ml of Coke??? Peruvians and Japanese, stay away from this spot. I went to 7 Doors Down Ramen with a few friends recently, and we had a great time. Our waitress, Jayme, was super friendly and really on top of things. We started with the coconut shrimp bao buns and a double smash burger--both were solid. For ramen, we tried the chicken ramen, pork belly ramen, and the 48-hour braised short rib ramen. The short rib ramen had so much flavor and was probably the highlight for me. The open kitchen setup was a nice touch, too. Definitely a spot I will be returning to. read more

RUN don't walk! There are so many great this to appreciate about this new addition to the Bloomfield community. I have not found an establishment that I have been this excited about in a long time. It was really easy to get a reservation and we were quickly seated as soon as we arrived.  The ambiance As soon as you walk in you are great by the lovely hostess and the sounds of really great music. The decor is really beautiful and perfect for the location and the vibe of the restaurant. Although it is on the smaller side it is perfect!  Food  Small plates and Ceviche  The menu was the perfect fusion and it was easy to read and had a lovely array of options. I was nervous about the fusion combination, but you can tell that they really thought and perfected this menu. We tried so many options, but I cant wait to go back to try everything that we were unable to try the first time around.  During our visit, we tried the Shrimp ceviche which was perfectly balanced and the sweet charred corn added a pop of sweetness to the warm heat of the jalapeno and the smooth creaminess of the coconut Leche de Tigre. The Tuna sashimi was so fresh and you could tell that it was great quality and not frozen. The pineapple added a hint of sweetness and kumquat added this pop of soft citrus. The Papus a La Huanciana was just an added amazing surprise.  Ramen and Entree  The Tonkotsu Ramen had the deep broth flavor with the most succulent piece of thick-cut pork belly! When I tell you I was beyond impressed with the ramen I almost order another to go. The soy egg was also perfectly made with great flavor and a perfectly smooth/ custardy york. The Mushroom Ramen had this perfect umami flavor. You honestly would even be able to tell that there was no meat used to make the broth. This was a perfect option for our vegan friend. Lastly, we also had the Tokyo Style ramen. The broth on this ramen was also really good. The combination of the pork and chicken was perfect. There was this slightly roasted undernote that really added so much body to the broth. The Lomo Saltado was also really great the Grilled sirloin steak with that Aji Amarillo Aioli keep us coming back to eat more even though we were so stuffed.  Drinks and Dessert Although we were stuffed from our meal, we were not leaving without trying dessert. We had the Chocolate olive oil cake, the strawberry pisco, and the milk tea panna cotta They were all amazing! but my favorites were the Strawberry and pisco and the milk tea panna cotta. The creaminess of the panna cotta with the pop of the pearls was out of this world. The balance of fresh fruit with the pico zabaglione had me licking my spoon and almost my bowl. Hands some of the best desserts I've had in a long time and this is coming from a person that doesn't like sweets. I am more of a popcorn after-dinner person. A few nice things that I wanted to mention: They are a BYOB. The staff was amazing, especially our server Lee. She was so knowledgeable about the menu. She offered great suggestions and was not pushy at all. She allowed us to take our time ordering and was so attentive. Her energy was so inviting you can tell that she really enjoys her job and making guess feel comfortable. The Chefs, Lawrence, and Luis were also really nice. he came over to our table and talk with us about the concept of the restaurant. I never heard of Nikkei (Peruvian flavors/Japanese technique) but it instantly piqued my interest and I had to give it a try. I ordered the Hamachi, tonkotsu ramen, and the crispy salmon burger. The Crispy Salmon burger was delicious. Shredded scallions worked well with the kewpie mayo and the fries were nice and crisp. Had to knock down a star due to the fact that the broth on the ramen was almost inedibly salty. The pork belly was disappointing because it was tough instead of tender. The Hamachi was the star of the show. It was absolutely perfect - sweet, slightly spicy, and the mezcal is a genius addition to the sauce. Paola was our server and he was very hospitable. This isn't my first time here, and each time it never fails to impress and leave me satisfied. Try the tonkotsu ramen and the spicy tantan ramen. Both taste AMAZING!
