We stopped by because we love Japanese food and desserts. We were thrilled to find a spot that…read morebrought back memories of authentic "Japanese-style" treats we grew uo with back home. The aesthetics immediately impressed us--the place is tastefully accented with Japanese novelties that reminded us of spots back on the Pacific. We also really appreciated the warm, welcoming greeting from the staff when we walked in, which captured that classic Japanese hospitality. Since it was our first visit, we went all out and tried a little bit of everything: Boba Drinks: A unanimous #1 hit for everyone in our group. Cheesecakes: Delicious overall, with the Crème Brûlée flavor being the standout favorite. Tarts: While not our top pick, we appreciated that they followed the traditional Japanese dessert style--subtly sweet rather than overly sugary like American treats. The only downside was the atmosphere in the seating area. Seeing a child running a black handheld vacuum while guests were sitting, paired with friends of the staff hanging out and getting seemingly preferential treatment, took away a bit from the experience. Overall, though, the first-time visit was mostly about the food, and it delivered. If you haven't had the chance to experience Japan, the West Coast, or Honolulu, this is about as close as you can get locally. Recommended!

When I sat down at the bar though it was almost like I instantly felt comfortable. The bartender approached me and told me about what she could offer with the drinks and all, giving me ideas on how and what to pair etc which made me feel good moving forward with my order. I'm more on the health side of things so she made me an Arnold Palmer type drink with red kava and only one pump of the flavoring they usually put in it and honestly, it was still so amazing. They have games, pool tables, and lounge areas where you could get into your own things if you wanted. I genuinely had a pretty wonderful time here and would go here solo or with friends really. Now I refer to it as a home away from home because it really did make me feel so comfortable in that way. Much love to Roots!

The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. We enjoy their Monday pool tournaments on their 9' and 7' tables. There are also a couple televisions to catch the game or a movie. Plenty of parking and easy access too! Try a bula! I recommend a little creamer! Check out their Insta: "rootshouseofkava"

The food is fun, because there's a little something for everyone. Yet the staff is kind, thoughtful and relaxed enough to make accommodations. That's rare these days. Parking may be tight, but it would be silly to rely on your car in Matlacha. There is a gorgeous park nearby with a large pier and plenty of parking. From there, the Perfect Cup is a short walk and ideal mental reset to transport anyone that visits Matlacha into the prophetic and elusive "Island Time." The bubbly and enlivening environment is enough to recharge you for a play day in Matlacha. It is inspiring to see how much this small community of even smaller business manage to survive and thrive all along a 1000' strip of delightfully walkable roadway. I encourage everyone to take advantage of the honor and privilege it is to walk through the doors of places still standing in Matlacha.

I want to share my deep disappointment regarding my experience at your restaurant. We waited over…read morean hour to be seated, only to watch multiple parties of two walk in and be seated within 15 minutes, while our party of three was ignored. In my opinion , a well-managed restaurant would offer to accommodate a party at a smaller table or provide updates to improve the situation. Furthermore, my husband is handicapped, and while we were not seeking special treatment or free items, it was upsetting to see our place in line disregarded so blatantly while other tables were prioritized ahead of us. While the food was acceptable, it did not justify the long wait or the unfair seating system. I hope you take this feedback seriously to ensure other guests do not have a similar experience. I won't recommend anyone to this restaurant and one of your signs says what happens here we talk all week! I WANT TO TELL YOU THAT WHAT HAPPENED THERE WE WILL TALK ABOUT IT FOR A LONG TIME, AND MANY OTHERS WILL READ IT!!!
