This 7-11 was struggling. One employee. No napkins and no regular coffee...in the AM.

They nickel and dime you for everything! I was charged extra for a tea bag! Won't come back anymore.

Fairuz Cafe - Zalabiah, kunafa, Turkish coffee, chocolate cake

    Fairuz Cafe

I don't say this lightly: Fairuz Cafe serves the best Turkish coffee I've had. Period. And I'm…read moresaying this as someone who grew up on Turkish coffee in Palestine and Jordan, and searched for the real thing across countless cafes in the States. The search is over. The coffee here isn't just good -- it's correct. The grind, the heat, the cardamom -- everything is dialed in with the kind of care you only get from people carrying a tradition, not following a recipe. The basbusa is outstanding -- house-made, fresh, with that perfect syrup-to-semolina balance so many places get wrong. Best I've had in years. Can't wait to try their kunafa next. What really sets Fairuz apart is the atmosphere. This is a family-owned spot and you feel it the second you walk in. The hospitality is genuine -- that "sit down, you're home now" energy you can't manufacture. If you're Middle Eastern and homesick, come here. If you've never had real Turkish coffee, come here. If you just want somewhere that feels human and unhurried -- come here. Fairuz didn't just meet my standards. It raised them.

Hubby and I made it a Sunday morning coffee date for a good cup of coffee. This is in a strip mall…read more Inside is nicely decorated. The only thing for me is that it feels a little like a nighttime vibe but it only sells bakery goods and coffee type drinks. We were the only ones there, so it felt almost too big. They have a pool table, which was surprising and I wasn't sure if we could use that. One other couple came after a bit. I think if it were full, it would have been really nice. Husband got a double espresso and I ordered an Americano. His was in a cute cup, but mine was in a to-go cup with a lid. Since we were sitting in, I would have preferred a nice mug. We ordered a few pastries to bring home. I presume it was the owner working and he was very welcoming. He was cleaning the entire time (9am ish). On the positive, the place looks spotless. I did feel it was a little odd to mop while open and in the morning. The chocolate pastry in this picture was 10/10 for me, so good! It had so much flavor and texture with chocolate, pistachio and maybe some caramel. Would definitely go back, particularly to get items to take home.

Eggs up is near our house and we like supporting businesses in our neighborhood and we like…read moresupporting businesses in our immediate area so we decided to have breakfast here. Usually this place has a line but with other breakfast restaurants opening in the area, I think the crowds have spread out to different brunch/breakfast places. We ordered coffee and were brought water. The coffee is good. I can drink it black, no problem. They should sell the beans! I've been trying to eat healthier so got their gracious goodness breakfast, which was made with egg whites, spinach, mushrooms, feta, onions and tomatoes. It's served with either grits or hash browns and toast. I got my toast without butter. My husband got an omelet that had sausage, veggies, potatoes, etc. it came with the same sides options and he chose girls, and toast. When my egg white omelet showed up it was swimming in butter. You can see how much if you look at the picture. So much for being healthy. The toast was barely toasted and the potatoes were lukewarm and tasted like they've bit sitting in a box in the walk-in for too long. They weren't crispy either. I didn't eat the potatoes and only ate half of the omelet. I also had a side of corned beef hash because it's one of my favorites. My husband said his omelet was just okay. Next time we go for breakfast we will probably go somewhere else. I know the Eggs Up Grill where I grew up closed (it was in Mt Pleasant SC). The difficulty in franchise restaurants is the quality control. This Eggs Up might be suffering from the same thing. I hope the owner pays more attention to food quality This was just an okay breakfast for me. I don't know that I'd order the same

Unfortunately they don't take reservations, however we didn't have to wait too long to be seated despite being fairly busy. SERVICE: Friendly waitress who checked on us a decent amount of times. No complaints. FOOD: I was in love with their menu. I saw a variety of options that I wanted to try with very fair pricing. Unfortunately, I won't get to frequent this restaurant as much as I would love to.
