After leaving a gas station down the road, I stopped by this 7-Eleven to see if I could heat up my dinner. Although I feel like I shouldn't have to ask, I did so out of courtesy to avoid another situation like the one I had at Shell. The staff member responded kindly, saying, "That's what it's there for," which immediately put my mind at ease. Since it had been raining all day in San Diego, I expected some dirt to be tracked inside. This location, however, was well-prepared, with multiple wet floor signs placed as a precaution to keep customers safe. While shopping for some snacks and a drink, the same employee took the time to compliment my jacket while I was checking out. It felt like a genuine conversation, just a small act of kindness, not a forced customer service tactic. Unrelated to this review, he mentioned wanting to go shopping, so I told him about some thrift shops downtown that he might like. While the store itself might not be the best 7-Eleven in all of San Diego, that positive interaction is exactly why I'm leaving a five-star review. I wasn't in the best mood when I walked in due to my off-putting experience down the road, but the gentleman working that night (I unfortunately didn't get his name) helped turn my night around. Don't come here!, the service was outrageous, the male employees were cussing in front of my 2 little brothers who are both under 6 years old. He didn't let us in and kicked my 2 brothers out. There was a short woman with black hair at the register. The man who kicked us out had brown hair and a brown beard, the man who cussed was short and had blond hair. They refused service and didn't let us come back. The main manager was Indian and tall he was respectful until he wasn't. The food was gross and bland when I tried it a different time, and everything was overpriced. Literally the worst 7-eleven I've ever been to. I live close so I keep giving these guys a chance, but I'm done. It's disgusting, and the team members are straight up assholes. I'm a young woman and these employees do not make me feel safe. I get hit on constantly. I recently had to use a temporary drivers license while my renewed one came in the mail, and I had multiple employees accuse me of using a fake id that I "printed from the internet". Seriously. This is my 2nd time having issues with this same 711. Really harsh, aggressive mean management customer service. Be aware, they can be really, really harsh and unnecessary aggressive It made me feel like crap I just wanted to cry. The first incident last year I did cry when I got into my car. From time to time there are employees who have attitude or don't care to actually help you. Hot foods are good for convience store hot food. I really enjoy their breakfasts stuffed waffles. The absolute worst customer service experience I've ever gotten. I've gone to this store a lot and used my Apple wallet 7-Eleven bar code without any problems. Today the owner told me he wouldn't scan it and aggressively insisted I download the official app instead. I was very weirded out and told him I'd do it later. He got angry about my "attitude" and then dumped my slurpee out in front of me. I took his picture and he got even more upset. He followed me out to the parking lot and tried to block my exit. I was fearful, as he is much larger than me (I'm only 5'1 and about 125 pounds). I deleted the picture but he still tried to prevent me from leaving. He pushed me backward when I tried to get to my car. I started taking video and this is when he backed off and let me leave. On the video he is seen hurling expletives at me and telling me to never return. A really horrible, awful experience. Can't recommend against this place enough. read more

Super convenient if you're in bind. The gas prices are comparable to other gas stations in the area. I've never had any issues when I get gas here. It does get busy sometimes with the high school nearby. We typically come here for Red Box (renting movies) and it gets busy! I've warmed up a lot to this place because it's only a block away from where Wilmar D. lives. Whenever we've needed ice, or soda, or beer, or a pink frosted doughnut with sprinkles, we've been able to get here in less than a minute. For the first time I forgot to wear my mask. I just walked in and grab my drink. A worker standing behind me yelled at me (hence I have anxiety problem) I startled so bad she did not have to scream so loud "YOU DONT HAVE YOUR MASK" I felt like I got hit with a brick. NOT only he did NOT listen to what I had to say but he was arguing with me and that I was wrong and told me to get out that he refuse service. I'm also a disabled person who can't barely walk. This 7-Eleven is probably the oldest convenience store location in all of Mira Mesa. When I was a kid, I'd come in here after school (Mason Elementary, holla!) to hang out and play arcade games. While the arcade games are gone, the store's gotten bigger, and I'm a whole lot taller, this 7-Eleven location is still going strong. Once in a while, I'll come in here for a drink and maybe a bite (although, I do wish it was self-serve here, like am/pm). And of course, the Slurpees... often imitated, never duplicated! While I have to limit myself when ordering one, they're still just as good as I remember. I suppose it's nice to have a convenience store near the apartment complexes and homes off of Gold Coast, so that's a plus. read more

The price of gas at this location is almost always the lowest around of similar quality gas stations, which I appreciate. Went here to pick up my redbox movie and stopped inside to purchase a lotto ticket. The line was crazy long and was difficult to find a place to park outside. The cashiers were slow and he wasn't super friendly when I got up there; I think he was having a bad day. The doughnuts looked a bit old so I didn't purchase one and the shelves could have used tidying. It's a gas station so I'm not expecting too much. This 7-11 location really needs help. They need staff that can motivate others to take pride in their work. Here are my issues with this particular location. They had very disrespectful and "street" cashiers. I've noticed that some of those cashiers are no longer there. That's good. I've had one or two consistently cool cashiers make sure I'm aware of the discounts on coffee and be extra polite. That's always nice, especially since that's usually the only reason that I go to 7-11, coffee. The last few times I was there I was dissatisfied about a few different things. First, after finishing my cup of coffee, I had a mouthful of coffee grounds and saw that the bottom of the cup had near to a half inch of coffee grounds. How that happens I'm not sure. Maybe the filter busted or something? I finally decided to yelp this 7-11 location after purchasing a $.97 cup of coffee that was room temperature. I started not to buy the coffee, however, I figured I could try to drink the coffee, took one sip, and quickly changed my mind about that. I think this 7-11 is better than some locations and worse than others. The quality of employee ethics is just as important as what they have to sell. The employees are the representatives of the franchise as well as the specific location. I've been trying not to be so critical of employees as I can see that they do have difficult work dealing with the public consumer. That however does not excuse cold coffee, or coffee grounds passing through the dispenser and into the cup. Another time there were no X-large cups, however, I looked past that as a simple inconvenience due to the fact that I'm sure there are plenty of coffee lovers that get their bean at 7-11 and who doesn't like an Xtra large cup for $.79? I gave this location just one star because I had bad dealings with the coffee twice in just a few weeks, as well as previous interactions with disrespectful and rude employees. As I stated, those employees are no longer there, however, if I have to avoid a convenience market because I don't want any interaction with the person at the register something isn't right. It would be nice if they made sure their coffee was hot and that grounds didn't pass through the filter and dispenser and into the cup. read more

This is a great 7-Eleven! First of all, it's always CLEAN! The staff are friendly and helpful. I mainly go there to appease my soda addiction and I don't think this store has even run out of my favorite beverage. I live closer to the other 7/11 in Mira Mesa and I drive past the Circle K (scary!) to get to this particular 7/11. This is the closest business from my house. Therefore, it really is the most convenient store for me. It's not a mom-and-pop offering; rather, it's about as far from it as you can be. Nonetheless, it's important to me, and it's worthy of being my 200th review. Just about every morning I'll come in to 7-Eleven and pick up something that I totally don't need. Kit Kat for breakfast? One-third pound Big Bite? Cheeseburger Bite (such a weird concept)? Or sometimes I just fill up my Scion with gas priced so variably that sometimes it's the one of the cheaper choices in Mira Mesa but more often than not rides a little higher than even Shell or Chevron and without any predictable trend. After work, I would likely stop by the same 7-Eleven and pick up a Diet Pepsi... maybe another Kit Kat... maybe a taquito (that's often a bad idea because they don't even taste good). Maybe I'll even pick up a 40 of King Cobra or Olde English 800 if I want to unwind ghettotastically. Next, there's pre-parties. If i'm off to a shindig in the evening, I'll probably make another stop for some caffeine. A 16-ounce Zero Carb Rock Star (known as "blue can Rock Star" by me) is usually my poison, but when I need an even bigger pick me up, I might go for the 32-ouncer, or, if I'm ballsy, a bottle of REDLINE. One full bottle of that stuff will make you want to dance to every Pitbull reggaeton hit, maybe punch a stranger in the face, and when all that is through, do your taxes. But I digress... Needless to say, going to the Gold Coast 7-Eleven is a part of my life. I've met every single employee there, and even though I don't actually know their names, I know them all. I see the same customers here, including the employee from Pho Ca Dao who always takes our order -- he buys his Lotto here. Sure in the weird hours it's pretty ghetto, but inside it's always nice and clean, the lines move fast enough, and it's super convenient for me. read more

I was the last one at the end of line-I was standing by the sodas lol. Anyway it gets 4 stars for having an Amazon locker at this location. Favorite 7eleven to go to. Closest to where I live, never too crowded, nice and clean, and the employees are always so nice to me! They have a redbox right outside so if you're planning a movie night you can make one stop here to get everything you need. Drinks, both alcohol and non alcohol, are cheap. (I believe they still sell beer salt.) Snacks are a bit pricey and so is their candy. But they do have the personal size bags of chips for $1.50. They sell Jerky as well and some food like Hot Dogs, Pizza, and Nachos. I've gotten a Hot Dog from here a few times. It was about $2-3 and I thought it was good. They stop selling scratchers at a certain time. And they don't cash any for you either when they stop selling. I think at 9? So come before then. read more

So, I was hesitant to review 7-Eleven at first. The reason is because I think all 7-Eleven's are the same. However, since I have not been to every one, I will review this one. I go every day, unlike some other people who only go on the weekends. I get my coffee there. They make it better than I or any of my co-workers can make it. That and they have non-dairy creamer. Delish. Plus, there are always little elementary students buying their morning juice. That says a lot about the comfort and safety of this 7-Eleven. The facility itself is nice and clean. Their managers are a bit quirky. They are cool though. They didn't make me take out my license when I bought beer there. I don't get my gas there, but I can see the convenience in having a gas station near by. Lastly, they have pretty much anything you need on the fly.
