I don't know what's going on with all these (none recent) reviews of this 7-Eleven at 4199 Hamilton Ave, San Jose, CA 95130. I have been coming here since 2017 and it's ALWAYS been a great experience. Now this review is primarily for the mornings at this 7-Eleven. What makes it so good are the employees, Laura and Amāndeep (Amān) who work as a team to make sure everything is clean, hot food is prepared, coffee is fresh, and all the shelves are well stocked. In the morning, this store is very busy and the majority of the customers are repeat customers. How do I know? Because they say good morning Laura or she acknowledges customers by name, as does Amān. If there is a problem, just tell them-they will fix it. In the interest of fairness to some of the poor reviews, they are probably true as this 7-Eleven has had problems with their gas pumps in the past and other observations seen by customers in the evening. I've never had hair in any of the prepared food. I enjoy visiting this store and understand, it's just a 7-Eleven. read more

Bad management is one thing, but dishonesty is another level. I placed a DoorDash order but couldn't pick it up the same day, so I came back the next day. First, the staff told me DoorDash had cancelled the order and that I needed to take it up with DoorDash. After I showed them the app clearly saying the order was completed, the story suddenly changed, now they claimed it had been "picked up by someone else." I went to this gas station to fill up because it was cheap. The swipe machine outside was broken. Go inside and pay. It was filled with $35. It was filled with $30. And they said they would refund the $5. But the money was not returned. This is how people are being scammed. The gas is cheap. The money that should have been refunded but the money was not. How many people do you scam per day by making three, four, five dollars? We need to be a little more careful. read more

Proceed with caution when Door Dashing from this place. Received the wrong items multiple of times, which is highly inconvenient for folks who are busy & do not have time to go to the store to hand pick the items themselves. They gave me COFFEE flavored ice cream instead of delicious Butter Pecan and Dulce de Leche! Ew, yuck! Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, shame on me! What do you expect people, this is a darn convenience store. Stop whining about this place. You should get some cheese here for that whine. I have been coming here a few times to get drinks and had no issues. If you are a frequent visit member, you can get some very interesting deals. Over all the experience was mostly not troublesome because I am getting things at very reasonable prices. Drawback: Phony Baloney, I'd appreciate it if the clerk wasn't talking on a bluetooth thingy or listening to some kind of radio show when there are other customers nearby. While I don't have any issues with it, the service is a bit slower than what you expect in a normal 711. Luckily for me the dude wasn't laughing like crazy which is okay to me but I didn't like how he had a hard time answering my pricing questions. This isn't your house, my man. Up until today, I have not had any really negative experiences shopping at this store. I'll never shop there again as the two guys working there today were talking in Indian & laughing with each other at the register. It made me feel very uncomfortable. It's rude & inappropriate for people to speak & make jokes in front of non Indian speaking people. I asked to speak to the manager, but no one was available at that time. Weird! I'll definitely make a complaint to the manager Harry tomorrow. I'll never shop there again. I just looked at the two guys funny & then they stopped talking. That just made me think my intuition was right. The guy I talked to on the phone either didn't understand English that well or he was playing dumb. His English was just fine at first. Another red flag. I told him his behavior is inappropriate. Go to AAA Liquors instead nearby. They don't have as big of a selection there, but if you're just buying booze, gum, or a lottery ticket, go there instead. The Asian lady there is nice. I went in today 1/17/20 and purchased 4 items. 2 of which are expired. One being a lunchable that expired on Jan 11 2020 and the other was a snickers peanut butter that expired on 9/2019! Do you not check exp dates for months? No logs? This store needs to close. Disgusting. read more

Becare of this 7-11. One of the partners of this 7-11 tried to rip me off on TWO occasions. Sorry I forgot the name. Recently visit: cashed in my $4 winning lotto tix, bought another $5 in lotto and small slurpy. He says I owe him $4.50? How much does a small slurpy cost brother? I don't care about the extra dollar or two he charges, it's the principle of getting cheated. BS MAKE SURE they charge you correctly. Get a receipt. This is a warning for all customers. There is a thief here. My husband used his card inside last night - shortly after someone pulled $1000 out at the Bank of America on Prospect. Thankfully the bank suspended the card because of suspected fraud so they were unable to get anymore than that. Will be reporting to the police. read more

Pay cash if you do go here. I haven't used my debit card for transactions for weeks. Finally used it here and the cashier was on the phone. Oddly, the POS machine was not working properly. He had to return the purchase even though I never put in my pin info and got charged. I looked at the card reader and noticed it looked a lot different than the one right next to it. It looked cheaper and the button press was off. It looked as if someone printed a cover and put it over the machine. With my skepticism, I did the transaction for the 3rd time which I actually then entered my pin. Locked my card right away after leaving and an hour later I get a notification saying someone tried to withdraw from my account in North Carolina. Sketchy experience so be wary of these interactions. Red flags would have been the POS machine didn't make any sounds like the others did, it usually makes a beep sound when approved. Not this time. The card also did not fit into the chip reader and almost my whole card was in the machine (reading magnetic strip) instead of utilizing the chip security. BE CAREFUL! I usually wouldn't waste my time writing a yelp review on a 7-11 but you know the worker who worked on 11/19/2017 around 10pm is the absolute worst worker they could find to fulfill a cashier position. I came to purchase a tobacco product and I was ready with my id. The worker checked my id and proceeded to tell me that it was fake, I told him that was my real id and he can ask me anything on there. He argued with me and told me he wouldn't sell to me because it wasn't me, I understand he might be a little confused since I took my photo when I was 16 with black hair, but 5 years later my hair is now ombré blonde (my face hasn't changed??) which led me to show proof with all my debit cards and even my college id.
