This place is completely corrupt. The sign for multiple items said one price and then he kept saying it was another. I priced six different items and he kept telling me that the price was double than what was listed. They should not be in business and I'm pretty sure the store is a front for what they are really doing behind the scenes. It is absolutely disgusting. Reported them to the BBB. Do not buy from here. We came in to buy 2 sodas and Pringle's how was it 11.99 they did not type anything in or give us a receipt. But once we asked for a refund instead he refused to give us a receipt or a refund. Very over priced no tags so they can up charge on purpose. read more

First I will say that I try to shop locally in the neighborhood where I live. I love my neighborhood, have lived here for years and want to support every small business on the Alameda! Small businesses are so important to our economy and the freedom of our choices. That said, it makes me really sad to say that this is a store that I hope NO ONE supports. This evening I went in to get a 6 pack of Leffe beer (normally $10-$11 at any other store). I didn't see a price but I had bought there before so when I was given back $1 change I said no, how much for the beer? The clerk said $18.99 and I said no thank I do not want this and he refused to refund my money. I had not even picked the beer up from the counter! Used to be a well-run and friendly bodega. Now I wouldn't recommend it. Ever. New owners are shady. They will over charge you, their ATM is busted or wonky, and NO ONE speaks any english so you can't even have a real conversation about the mistakes in pricing vs. what you are actually charged for. Their staff is so friendly, I'm always greeted with a smile and warm welcome. Our neighbors and friends all say the exact same thing. They have a good selection of beer and alcohol, along with household items,snacks, medicine, etc. I am so glad to have this store so close to my house !!! This place sells it so my cat doesn't kill me when I forget to feed him because I am too hungover. 4) Lottery Tickets. This place sells all of your lottery needs so you can dream about having endless alcohol, energy drinks and cats who can feed themselves. Mini Marts are pretty important to me as I am constantly buying booze and do not always feel like standing in a long line at a grocery store to purchase it. With that said, I came to these convenience store to find my booze of choice, pay, and be on my way. Well, City Mini Mart on the Alameda does not do that for me. For starters, they do not carry Jack Daniel's. I needed the Jack for a work gift exchange. It was supposed to be a "white elephant" type game and I wanted to see who the cool people at the office happened to be. I figured anyone who choose to trade their gift for the bottle of Jack would be cool with me. How can a convenience store right next to a major apartment complex not have a large selection of booze? It seemed like a place devoted to condiments, soda, and ice cream, which basically describes the contents of my refrigerator. Anyway, digression aside, this place has no Jack. They carry some (nasty) beer, a few different (cheap) wines, some (whack) vodka, but no JD. In fact, no whiskey whatsoever. They did however, have an entire shelf devoted to ketchup and mustard. It was a pretty sad looking shelf. It had 2 bottles of ketchup and 1 bottle of mustard on a shelf that could have fit 15 bottles of ketchup and 15 bottles of mustard. This little convenience store is just what it is, convenient. It's super close to my home. So when I am thirsty, need a snack, or need meds when I am sick (and can't go very far), they have what I need. Also, if I need something in a bind, such as shampoo or toothpaste, they have it! While their selection of chips is not to my liking (which is good anyways, cause I know I don't need to eat chips), they are pretty well stocked. They even carry KINDER good. I mean, I freaking love Kinder snacks and candies and no convenient store I ever been to carries Kinder. If you don't know what Kinder is, it's a German confectionary brand. They make such things are Happy Hippos and Hazelnut/Choco goodies. They are amazing. Usually you can only find them at German grocers or Cost Plus. Not only that, but the staff is pretty awesome. They are always friendly and have a smile on their face. They also even keep an eye out on my car. So I know they care and would alert me if anything was to happen. One time my roomie borrowed my car and she left the light on. She didn't know that my car has autolights which turns off and on automatically. So instead of turning it off, she left the right side lights on. While I was sick, I came in to buy DayQuil and they let me know my lights was left on. I am thankful for that info! They save my car's battery!!! So yeah, this place serves its purpose and the customer service is great!!! They probably know I have quite a sweet tooth. read more

This store is an oasis on a hot day, if you are in search of a cool beverage. They have a great selection of drinks, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. The prices are reasonable for a min-mart and the location on the Alameda is great for just pulling up, running in and getting out. read more

They have good beer, good ice cream, the basic ingredients for pancakes on a Sunday morning (i.e., butter, milk, eggs, etc.). I've been going there for the last year or so maybe a couple of times a month or so. It has always been the same man running the register, and today he introduced himself to me -- the owner. I was welcomed when I came in, then as I was looking at the cold beverages the young lady at the cashier told me 'ACTUALLY, pets aren't allowed in here' and I turned away to walk out and she smiles then points to a printed paper taped behind her with a paragraph long about no animals in their MINI MART. She starts lecturing me about my 'pet' in her store. That was unnecessary as I was already leaving ... but for posterity I told her that businesses are supposed to ask two questions: is it a service animal? If so, what task does it perform? That's a LAW called the ADA but of course she wouldn't know that. I felt totally discriminated because my dog is medium sized and I am a POC. Also there are cultural issues involved here. But let me just say my SA is way cleaner than their cashier. She SAW me walk in with my SA and said nothing until I was deep into the store then tries to lecture me with her home printed sign. I love this mini mart! They have a really good election of random drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic). They're open later than most places and yes, you'd expect it to be an expensive place, but its actually not that bad. I live behind the Mini Mart and can always walk there for an inexpensive "snackie food". Really happy that it's there. The man behind the counter is always really nice and his smile is always appreciated. I don't drink alcohol either so I have no comment there. The prices are very reasonable especially the chips. They had 6 different choices of "Reese's" candies. Super convenient for us. Husband is walking there as we speak to get us some Twinkies. Not great for the thighs but that's another story. read more
