Don't pay attention to this stores hours. They usually close sometime between 11pm-1am and open sometime between 6-7am. It varies everyday.

Anchorhead isn't…read morevery fancy (it has the modern, industrial look that's so popular with coffee bars in Seattle), but they had some (uncomfortable) modern seating and air conditioning, so I couldn't really complain! My feet were killing me and I was hot and sweaty, so a little espresso break is just what I needed. The menu had some fancy sounding coffee drinks but as a purist, I opted for a plain cappuccino. Hubby got a lavender iced latte, and we decided to share both drinks. The funky baristas were so kind and welcoming, and the service was friendly (no aloof baristas here!) and fast! Think of Anchorhead as a hipster place that treats you like family. Bonus stars for this establishment being all-inclusive and welcoming! I knew I was in the right place when I saw Pride flags proudly displayed in the window and even inside the coffee bar! It's nice to support non-bigoted businesses, and Anchorhead makes no bones about the fact that they are indeed a coffee place for everyone. Misfits, outsiders, trans and more: come as you are! We were also drawn inside thanks to the big sign on the front door that read "ICE NOT WELCOME." After placing our orders, we found a seat, filled a cup with the complimentary ice water, and waited for our name to be called. Our order was ready in less than three minutes! Talk about fast service! Since we had one hot and one cold coffee, it was a good assortment to compare. I normally am not a fan of any type of flavored coffee drinks, but the lavender latte was so nice and refreshing! We got the small size, which I think it way too small. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this drink. The ice was just right, and it didn't taste too watery (as the ice melted, it did get watered down but not in a totally unpleasant way). The lavender flavor was strong yet not overpowering, and the coffee has a delicate floral aspect that complemented it well. This was a terrific espresso drink. The cappuccino was also good. The milk was foamed perfectly, and the espresso was strong and rich. I'm more of a fan of espresso with cereal / honey notes, and Anchorhead's beans lean more towards the heavily floral. This isn't a bad thing, it's just not my jam when it comes to espresso. The cappuccino was very good, but not my favorite. These coffees are crafted and artisan, and the prices match! It was very expensive for these two drinks, but that's the norm in Seattle. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here again, but it's a nice place to rest and get a dose of caffeine if you find yourself in downtown Seattle.

The coffee was delicious especially with the house-made nondairy milk, but what really stood out was the frosted cinnamon roll, which was almost like candy. I am not sure if this happens during the busiest moments in the shop, but they did have staff bussing the tables, and one staff member actually brought us our order (I'd been listening for my name to be called and didn't hear it). It was a really nice touch with some really pleasant waitstaff.

They clearly care about their image as they offer a free mug for first-time customers with an email sign-up. The drinks here are ok, but they average between $8-$10 each. I think the pricing is just much too high. You're paying for the vibes, not for a great cup of coffee. The matcha we tried was mediocre. There are so many other great places for coffee in Seattle, for just a fraction of the price. I think Storyville is preying on tourists visiting the market. They probably have to charge that much to keep the 8 employees milling about behind the counter employed. The space does have lots of seating, but it was nearly full during our early afternoon visit. Save your money, find another great local coffee spot!

We were initially enticed to visit Chaco Coffee & Tea given the mention of boba on their website. There aren't many options near Seattle Center, so having an additional one is always welcome! Walking in, unfortunately we found no mention of boba anywhere on the menu. I guess it's a future option or perhaps the website is just wrong, considering that they show photos of rolled ice cream, which they also don't serve. Ordering can be done either in person or at a kiosk near the front. There's plenty of seating and while we entered in the late afternoon, there were still several people inside settled down on laptops. Osmanthus Oolong Tea, 16oz ($6.25) - This is a very lightly sweetened beverage with plenty of fragrant flowery flavor emanating from the osmanthus. It's a really clean flavor, not quite grassy, but somewhat green in essence, coming with just a slight astringent bite towards the finish. It's a good, clean iced tea. (4/5) Da Hong Pao Tea Latte ($7.50) - This latte has a nice strong balanced nutty flavor. I saw the barista pour milk into the cup up to maybe 3/4 full, so I'm surprised that the tea flavor is so strong in this drink. The milk adds tons of body but doesn't contribute an overwhelming dairy flavor. They add a lot more sugar syrup into this drink - it's probably equivalent to 75% sweet or so at a boba shop, although it's not harsh at all due to likely being pure cane syrup instead of fructose. (4/5) The tea quality at Chaco is pretty good. It's always nice to see a cafe (rather than a tea shop) with such great variety! The major downside - pricing is really high especially for some of the premium teas. It's like double the price of actual tea shops in Seattle. I guess that's the Seattle Center tax? Bathrooms - Shared with the rest of the building tenants.
