Well, today I went there and it is now a Speedway and the free air is no more. In fact the air is so expensive that the machine accepts credit cards....For Real. I find this to be utterly absurd!! And to boot, the gas prices were still about 20¢ higher per gallon than the station right by my home. I also went in to use the restroom which was retched. When trying to get out of the bathroom, a magazine rack was blocking the door. I had to push it out of the way with the door while the clerk behind the counter was just staring into space watching me try to escape the Saw like situation. I go to this 711 everyday, sometimes more than once, and I am always greeted with a smile, with my cigarettes waiting for me when i get up in line. A visit to the store yesterday, though, will always stay in my mind. The stores debit system was down, as they can be from time to time. I had intended on paying with my AMEX card, but anyone who has worked in retails knows, AMEX transactions can be a bit touchy when the debit line is down. I was going to go back to my house to get another form of payment when Mike, the owner, stepped in. He handed me my bag of purchases, printed me out a receipt, and said that we see you everyday, dont worry about it, when you come in tomorrow, just pay us back. I was blown away by his kindness. Living on Long Island, I have many options when it comes to a 711, but I will always choose this one.
