It might not be possible to do a thorough review of 7petals Design and their support of my excessive Valentine's Day request, but I will try my best: MaryAnn is not just a florist, but truly a designer and an artist; she takes true pride in her work. If you are looking for real craftsmanship, this is the real deal (look at the website and the many other pictures as examples of the fine work--I will also upload a picture of the flowers I had sent to my girlfriend). I support local *everything*, as I know many of you fine folks do. As such, I was looking for local flowers, not something flown in and chemically-preserved from halfway around the world (that doesn't say romance to me). 7petals Design seems to have a mission in this way in their business--they source their flowers grown in the local area and were able to communicate well what was available and what was not. I was also looking for custom design; I did not want the same bouquet that everyone else could look at or click on a web page. Again, supporting craftsmanship, art, design...and shouldn't an expression of love be individualized and truly personal? I'll be honest with you, too; at times I can be an overly demanding, OCD customer with unrealistic requests. In this case, I e-mailed MaryAnn back and forth about a dozen times on so many different things, it's embarrassing. Finally, I even decided on a custom made card (that I created) and arranged to drop that off so that it could be delivered with the bouquet. Each one of my requests was handled immediately, with a high level of customer service and even good feedback to boot. I will be a repeat customer. 7Petals Design did all the floral/decorations/design for our outdoor wedding at Rancho Nicasio in July 2015, and it could not have been more exquisite. It was more beautiful than we ever could have imagined. Our wedding was 150 people, and 7Petals was responsible for pretty much everything but the food. From the bridal bouquet to the boutonnieres, chuppah to the wedding aisle vignettes, dinner table to dessert table, Maryann and Max were in charge of all our décor. This venue is large and quite rustic so this was a tall order. And admittedly, I had a general vision of how I wanted our wedding to look, or "feel" rather, but other than that, I pretty much deferred entirely. Maryann and Max were able to create that feeling with the little guidance I gave them, and it was just beautiful. Rancho Nicasio is a beautiful venue but we wanted to dress it up and add a lot of personal taste to it vis-à-vis our décor. We chose to do our ceremony outside under the trees, dinner outside on the lawn, and dancing and dessert inside. We chose to setup a cigar and whiskey bar outside, and 7Petals helped us design an outdoor lounge area around that as well. They created a unique and lovely vignette in each of the above areas. The amount of surface area they designed was staggering and the end result was magnificent. Our guests were wowed by the setting Max and Maryanne created. What I love the most about working with Max and Maryann is that they can accommodate your style and approach. If you are hands-on about the flower color and style you want, they are able to realize your vision. However, if you are more like me, and you want to hire someone to complement your style, I recommend giving them much creative liberty as the end result will be masterful. When you hire 7Petals, this includes not only the vision of Maryann and Max, but it includes whatever support crew they need to make the transformation on you wedding day. Knowing they can do a large and complex venue like mine means a small and intimate setting would be comfortably within their expertise. I could not recommend any better choice for making your special event your own! They are visionaries. Maryann Nardo of 7petals Design did far more than provide the flowers for our back yard wedding and Hotel Mac reception. She helped us with so many other details related to the wedding including helping coordinate the outfits of the wedding party to designing the wedding site in our yard with touches that were so personal to us. Her husband and amazing steel player, Jon Mitguard, played music as the wedding party came down the aisle. It became a magical place and that lingers on. At the reception Maryann brought the same care to our event with beautiful, local flowers that transformed the reception room. She used cut flowers, potted plants, and cut branches. Our experience with Maryann was incredible! We were married at a family spot in the country. Maryann came up beforehand to get the lay of the land, then arrived the day before the wedding with her assistant (husband Jon - who is an awesome dobro/steel player) in tow and went to work gathering local stuff to add to her creations. Our experience with MaryAnn was top notch! She went above and beyond to help our daughter who needed a corsage and boutonniere last minute for the Senior Prom. After calling several florists in a panic late Sat. afternoon, MaryAnn was the only one who returned our call. It was the holiday weekend and she was off duty. She took her personal time to help us and even with such short notice, MaryAnn created a beautiful corsage and boutonniere and had it ready for us the next morning for pickup. MaryAnn understood our predicament and even found a way to get my daughter her desired flower and colors by being creative and skillful. We are so grateful to this thoughtful and caring woman!! We recently used Maryann for floral design for my daughter's bat mitzvah, and she was helpful beyond measure. We asked for a large floral arrangement and about a dozen centerpieces. As we worked together, Maryann did a wonderful job of listening and guiding me. Her suggestions to add driftwood adorned with succulents to our tablescape thoughtfully enhanced our beachy theme, and inspired us to ask Maryann to decorate a large driftwood candelabra as well. I particularly appreciated that Maryann was able to bring my daughter into the conversation, asking her directly to clarify her vision. Not every kid would want to be part of the conversation, but mine did and really enjoyed working with Maryann. In fact, my daughter learned about dahlias from Maryann, and recently exclaimed that they are likely her favorite flower. Our flowers were gorgeous! From my bouquet and the boutonnieres to the table tops and the rustic stage where we were wed. MaryAnn is seriously talented! She turned local flowers into artistic creations using natural items. She even asked if I would like a special feather she had found added to my bouquet. Being a birder and naturalist, I said YES PLEASE! The idea of hiring a florist was daunting- I was afraid of ending up with super large, smelly, pesticide-laden flowers that were grown 1000s of miles away. So I thought about not having flowers and then thought I would just throw a daisy or two in a mason jar and call it a day...Thankfully those scenarios did not play out and instead MaryAnn saved the day! MaryAnn took the limited info I provided on my tastes and created the most beautiful bridal bouquet for my May 2015 wedding. She also designed and crafted 5 adorable bridesmaid bouquets to complement mine and because I had interest in being involved myself, she helped me to make boutonnieres for my groom, groomsmen and our dads. I especially loved 7 Petals Floral Design's unique and rustic collection of vases and containers. MaryAnn was amenable to working side by side with a friend who had offered to help me choose flowers and provide direction and inspiration to the ladies of my life in arranging the centerpieces. For those of you who have inclinations toward DIY/ pulling in friends or bridesmaids to do flowers for your wedding, I recommend that you take on a manageable part of it and then team up with MaryAnn to do the most prominent or "showiest" items like bouquets, boutonnieres and ceremony pieces. This allows you to be involved but takes off the pressure. Had I not had a strong DIY inclination, I would have felt confident in working with MaryAnn and 7 Petals Floral Design to arrange all of my wedding flowers. She even had the foresight to take some of the flowers we had left over from center piece arranging to make not one but two large arrangements for the ceremony, which did wonders to fill in an outdoor meadow space and suit our tastes. And my favorite contribution of 7 Petals Floral Design to my wedding was most definitely a rectangular wood box that held a row of mason jar arrangements with moss nested in between.
