I've never been to this particular nursery before, but it was honestly, so cute, quaint and small! Lol I am not too sure if you were supposed to buy things in the entrance next door/to the left of where I entered the pottery shed, but there were three other women in the store when I went in, and they were at an "ah" looking at everything the same way I was! Hee. The items were reasonably priced and since I am a teacher, there were some great classroom ideas I got from little fairytale houses I can build up in our local kinder garden that we have in front of my center. She had some cute $.15 wooden hearts and stones for decorations in your Potted succulent aquariums! I don't know exactly what I will do yet with my kinders, but I did get some great inspiration! I will definitely be back once. I figure out how the children and I can decorate our own little potted plants and I will go back and buy a bunch of little succulents or maybe those little cute Floating plant succulents. I'm not too sure of the technical name. But the kindergartners shouldn't be able to kill succulent too fast, right?! Lol. read more

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this shop! Each time I come here I feel like everything is so magical. I bought my first air plants here and when I bought it home that same day I felt like it was already growing. In the expand of 3-4 days in a row my baby plant was blooming so rapidly. I never seen a plant that grow so fast like this one. I'm definitely coming back to get up another magical air plants. This place surely is special. It's super duper cute as well! The shop owner/salesperson was in the store and we asked if she was still opened it was around 6, she looked up and saw my four kids (a lot I know) and she said in irritated voice "nope I was supposed to already be closed" her demeanor was short and rude which was surprising in this cute little area. I came across this gem simply by accident. I was in town for a conference and decided to explore and found this beautiful place along with other cute stores located in the same street. In fact this little city has quite a bit of Boutiques that are all walking distance and shop owners that are super nice! This particular place has a uniqueness that immediately draws you in, with the beautiful succulents, hanging terrariums, and whimsical ornate objects. Pretty much has cute things at every corner that a girl can get mesmerized in there. I didn't want to leave and lucky for me they even let you create your own terrariums so you can have fun and get creative here. This is a perfect place with a backyard setup to create terrariums or succulents with your kids, your girlfriends or someone special. I worked with Kathleen on 27 (yes 27!) succulent arrangements for my wedding. Kathleen was incredibly enthusiastic and excited to take on the challenge. She met my budget (which was very small compared to most wedding arrangement budgets) and exceeded my expectations! We provided the planters and she did the rest. She sent us a picture of what she had in mind, and it was spot on, so we let her run with it. The shop was able to take our payment over the phone, and we picked up the plants on the way to the venue; it could not have been easier or less stressful. We were able to offer the planters as gifts to our guests, and we BARELY snagged one before they were taken to their new homes. We've heard from numerous guests how much they love them! In addition to the arrangements, my husband found a small heart-shaped wreath made of driftwood and decorated with air plants in the shop during one of our visits. He envisioned it hanging from the arch during the ceremony, and it became a beautiful addition to our wedding, playing a very central role! Highly recommend stopping by this shop. Their doors are open and the staff is welcoming! It's nearly impossible not to walk away with a gift or a keepsake. I've only been here a couple of times, but I love this place. Just even looking in the windows makes you smile. There is something so sweet and magical about it, you just have to go in. This little shop is a microcosmic representation of everything wonderful about Fairfax - great people, unique products, ecoconscious, and all about nature. My partner and I visited the shop on a Sunday afternoon, and from what we could gather the kind woman helping us wasn't the owner...so we wanted to make sure that the owners know what an amazing employee they have working for them!!! She was so warm and welcoming...and as it was our first time to Fairfax she took the time to introduce us to what's great in Fairfax. She was the type of person who has nice, just because that seems how she just is, not the type that's nice only to sell you stuff. About the store, its great! they have some of the most unique small plants I've seen. gorgeous lawn/patio decorations! I love this place! I came upon it one day while walking around Fairfax, and was drawn in by the creative mix of plants, jewelry, art, and cards. The small inside-outside store is like a wonderland of little treasures - you're bound to find something that speaks to you. On top of this, the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming! I went there today to buy a gift, only to find they were closing up for the evening. I am an absolute lover of succulents. There exists such a beautiful diversity of colors, shapes, sizes and textures that exist within this breed, and The Potting Shed has by far the best selection of succulent plants and pots that I have experienced. Not only is the selection plenty and diverse, but the woman who owns it, along with everyone who works there, are such a joy to be around. The space is quaint and cozy, with a beautiful garden area in back where they hold succulent potting classes.
