He was very friendly and personable, looked at our reference photos, and gave us an appointment time for that Saturday! He kept open communication until the appointment, had us send him our reference photos so he could make a sketch and quoted us our price. When we arrived for our appointment time, he was finishing up a client and had to finish our sketches, but he was openly communicating with us the whole time and we didn't mind waiting for him to finish. His work was clean, he had a very light hand, and he made us feel comfortable while making our tattoos prettier than we ever imagined! This place is definitely a hidden gem for old school tattoos. I can't speak on their realism or new school work, as I didn't see any there. Their walls were covered in flash designs by all the artists and they have portfolios in the front. Definitely a relaxed vibe there. I had a get what you get $100 tattoo done by a guy, I think his name is Shmit, I'm awful with names. He was very reasonable and patient with me, and did a great job giving me a tattoo worth my money. Came here for my first tattoo. Honestly at age 34, getting your first tattoo can feel slightly embarrassing in the sense that you missed the boat or aren't part of that cool kids crowd. Never the less my tattoo artist Mischa made me feel comfortable and welcome! It was really awesome because my wife has plenty of tattoos and we've been to other shops and I always felt looked down on by some tattoo artist DB's because I wasn't sleeved up. These guys at this shop are super rad and very friendly. I got my tattoo yesterday and we're already back the next day getting my wife another tattoo. I was with my 82 lb Pit, you can't miss her. He said his name was Paul too & to come on by. I told him I would proceed but would thing about them in the future. But, something about both our names being Paul, etc., I turned around w/my support dog Luna & headed for Seven Seas, only to be greeted by a guy saying 'NO DOGS IN HERE, ITS A HEALTH HAZZARD'. Then why the f-ck did Paul tell me to come in when he saw my dog right next to me?? I will head back to Lucky's tonight where my dog can hang in there lobby if necessary. I had planned on getting between 2-4 tats from you guys & because of the way you treated my dog, my family member, I not only will never return but I'll put this review on blast. Dogs have rights in the city of San Diego, especially support dogs. KNOW THE LAWS before you kick someone out of your shop, who was about to spending 100's! read more

Booked an appointment with Damiani to have matching tattoos to remember my late father. My 2 sons, myself and my 75 year old mother wanted "Joe Cool". My youngest just turned 18 and this was his first tattoo. Luis explained everything to expect beforehand and was careful to make sure he was comfortable. When it came time for my mother's tattoo, he treated her as if she was his mother! My Mom still talks about him and asks about him. We all love our tattoos! Damiani is super cool and I love just coming with my ideas and letting him do what he wants to it, because he takes my ideas to a whole new level. I have a decent amount of tattoos and have been to several shops in San Diego but this is by far my favorite mostly because Alfy did such an amazing job. He did a beautiful Ganesh head on my leg, I am truly in love with it, the colors are beautiful and the lines are very clean. I initially wanted the entire Ganesh but he recommend I just do the head and it came out so beautiful. I want to wear shorts in the winter just so I can show it off. I'm glad he tweaked my idea because I think it came out better that way. He is an artist that takes pride in his work and if he doesn't think something will look good he will tell you, and I totally respect that. Had a really great experience with Sergio as my tattoo artist. He was so patient with me as I underestimated how much it would hurt and had to reposition occasionally. We sat for maybe 2-3 hours? He did the outline only so I have to come back for shading but seriously he was just amazing. The tattoo is his design and I'm just so grateful to have had a talented artist working on me! Only thing is that this place is tricky to find the first time. It's not any neon lights screaming tattoo shop at you and google maps directs you down a block or two. I had walked by 7 Seas numerous times on my days/nights downtown or on a Pokez fix. It is a small shop in the bottom of a newer apartment building. I had seen work from previous artists of the shop and knew that it would be a good place to start for a bright, bold tattoo. I was right. Caz helped me out and listened intently on my design idea, then advised me on what would and wouldn't work with the design, placement, etc. His candor was very honest and you can tell he knows what he is talking about. At the same time, I never felt intimidated or pressured. A few days later I came back and took a look at his design and loved it. My left arm has never looked better. 2.5 hours later I had an incredible tattoo with bold black and bright red accents. I could tell that Caz enjoyed the design and took a lot of pride in his work. A very fair price was presented and I was more than happy to tip. For a fan of bold color and strong black lines, I highly recommend 7 Seas and Caz for anyone thinking of their next tattoo. Dan's not only a talented artist but a really cool guy and definitely put me at ease. Caz just finished up about 15 hours on me and I couldn't be happier with the work he did. After years of waiting for my next tattoo vision to strike, it finally came a few months ago. I live in San Francisco and started checking out shops up here. I wanted to get a phoenix but didn't get a good vibe from anyone up in SF. I came down to San Diego for work in May and checked out a few shops. Went over to Seven Seas and met Caz. Real cool guy. Very interested from the start. I came back a couple days later to look at some designs he drew up, and that was that. I loved what he put together and came back for my first session a few days later. Came back to San Diego for two more sessions after that. Definitely worth the trips to get tattooed by good artist that understands what you want. Right off the bat when I entered this place looked sketched af! Dude in the front asked me what I wanted while he had a joint in his hand. He looked and sounded high, couldn't even think of the word he was gonna say after the other. My friend thought she'd get a tattoo there but ended up not wanting to for financial reasons and the guy tried to make her feel bad for not wanting to get it. Then he proceeded to ask me what my excuse for not getting my tattoo was... I was always getting mine but he was being petty and shaming my friend for not wanting hers. The actual guy who tattooed me was actually pretty cool and overall I got a good vibe from him. Overall I really WOULDN'T recommend getting your tattoos here. read more

Went on Friday the 13th and they were rude and ended up charging $90 for a small cross that took 5 minutes. They repeatedly said it was $80 shop minimum when they had $50 Black Friday tattoos. They were rude and missed out multiple other tattoos because of their attitude and ridiculous pricing. They said you pay for what you get but everyone had tattoos and agreed they were being ridiculous with pricing. I'm going to end on the fact they made gay jokes too once they were angry at us which was in appropriate. Thought we were going to a great shop because of reviews but I guess you occasionally get fooled sometimes. read more

The "short king" with the crooked ass patchy mustache wanted to charge me 250 for a 1 inch tattoo on my ribs cause it was going to "hurt". He was assuming I had no other tattoos because I didn't look like the other full bodied covered pin up girls in the shop. He was rude and aggressive and did not want to work with me whatsoever. I showed him a reference photo and told him I was open to suggestions and he literally flipped out and was pissed because I told him we could make changes if need be. Makes no sense. I don't suggest it, unless you walked in covered head to toe with your tattoos showing they're going to overcharge cause it'll "hurt". read more
