I had the red beans and rice w/turkey sausage, mixed greens and yams. Let's just say I didn't need another meal for the rest of the day. Everything was prepared expertly and delicious! She also responds well to my emails even after I made a reservation. Also, my baby went to NICU but she was able to work with us after discharge. Her instructions are clear and specific before the session. The studio was neat, well ventilated and had a really comfy couch! Haha. It's conducive for sleeping while baby is having her session. Lol! Snacks and drinks are available while we wait. Jaci works with newborns so well! I love her craft and I highly recommend her services.

The music genre rotates from country and western to Cajun Zydeco to 80s rock . No hip hop music. There are four or five breweries in a row. Sometimes, on weekends, there's a big concert in the back ally. It's called Hurricane Ally. It is a sophisticated ally/entertainment complex (check website for line-up). Often there is also smaller Music offerings in each brewery. On weekdays, it is more classy. There is usually music two or three nights during weekdays. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the most common days for music, but sometimes they also have music on Monday and Wednesdays. Check the website for the lineup. The midweek music is usually more sophisticated.... a high-quality musician playing a guitar or keyboard. Jimmie Wooten and Haley Brook are 2 of my favorites. The Smash Burger at Seventh Tap is outstanding if you are hungry. This is just a great place to sit back and relax, enjoy good food, drink, and music and have an enjoyable time.

Lots and lots of people here, especially on summer weekends. For those maybe not from the south, the heat and certainly the humidity might seem overwhelming as this is an outdoor live music venue. Most of the acts seem to be cover bands but also mostly, they seem to hail from the Dallas Metroplex and are actually quite good. Honestly, these Dallas area cover bands, or tribute bands as some are called, are almost as good as the bands they are covering or paying tribute to. Seriously. And at my age and at this point in my life (cough, lazy, cough, cheapskate) I'd rather see these bucket list bands in cover form here for free than pay beaucoup bucks to see the real deal, probably in Dallas. Recently, I saw the Maroon 5 cover band from Dallas, Animals, close out the summer season here, and they were outstanding. I don't even really like Maroon 5 that much but these guys in Animals were just spectacular. Sounded just like the cd or radio. I mean, just like it. And what a crowd for that one. Packed. Bossier loves its cover bands. Hurricane Alley is safe and makes for an enjoyable night out. Food and drinks are readily available for purchase at these all-ages events. BeauJax Crafthouse and Frozen Pirogue are right there. Fridays and Saturdays these free shows go from 7pm to 11pm. Parking in the lots around the venue is free. There's also a huge outdoor flatscreen tv on the wall showing any major sporting event. Just be prepared to stand for the duration, unless you bring your own chair, which you also can do. Being outdoors here, it's also nice for me to smoke a good cigar while enjoying these bands. I hope they can bring an Arcade Fire cover band from Dallas here soon. Or a tribute band for The Cars or The Police.

This is a relatively new concept in action all things considered. This was once the location of a…read moreplace called Lee's. Forever it was Lee's. Longtime. Lee's. I never really went in to Lee's as it wasn't my scene. Although the location is conjoined like a duplex to another place I do often frequent, and frequent still, The Tiki Bar. I just hardly ventured, nary set foot into Lee's. And that's probably because I'm not, and still not, in my 70's or even my 60's. Lees was a geriatric gin joint. And I guess, once I got used to not going in there, I just stop seeing it. Like, literally turning the proverbial blind eye to it. So, it's been Lucky Joe's for a minute, and I still haven't acknowledged it. I just forget about it. Last night, while smoking a stogie outside the Tiki, I could hear the music booming out of the open door of Lucky Joe's. It was rap. But it was good rap. The kind of rap I like. Old school 90's. 2000's. Stuff you can dance to. I dig it. So, I popped my head in there. I liked what I saw. Reminiscent of Lee's but just a hint of it. Not the AARP card crowd but the layout and the lighting, which I vaguely remember from an equally as brief visit yeeeears ago. I will return in the near future more focused and on a fact-finding mission. This is an easy one-two hopscotch bar hop between the Tiki and Lucky Joe's and I will do it. And if I like it, I might do it often. Lucky Joe's Lounge. Who knew? Not I. But I'm about to know. A lot more.

Super psyched for this new live music venue. I say new, but this is more of a rebranding…read more Almost like an episode of Bar Rescue. Remember that show? I used to love that show! But really, this isn't that either. I actually liked the previous identity of this tavern. Bayou Thunder Saloon. This was a long, long, longtime biker bar. But now that place is sadly gone. And though the structure is somewhat the same. It has been rearranged a smidge from the way it was. The bands play in a large room off to the left of the long bar and no longer to the right. I am glad to see this flip, because I'm not all-in-the-know, but I know the last several times I'd been here, it felt different. Like, it had changed. The biker scene was all but gone (which again, I thought was sad) but it was still under the same name. It definitely felt like something was going on. New ownership? New direction? Something? And so, now we know. Bayou Thunder is now Straight Jackets. I like the name. I like the rebrand. I believe they've done some more work to it since my last visit, so I'll be interested to see what that is. It's going to be a live music venue with what seems to be a hard rock edge. And I'm good with that. They already hosted a Type O Negative cover band from Dallas and I missed it. I'm pretty cheesed about that. Hopefully they'll come back. In May, this venue will host Powerman 5000, 12 Stones and Adema among others at Metalbug, a hard rock/heavy metal crawfish festival in the parking lot. Should be rad. Get your tickets. Book your rooms. And I hope on most nights before then and after, domestic longnecks will stay at the $3 mark. That too, would be rad.
