But tonight, the very obese clerk there told me that the "grocery side" of the shop was closed because he wasn't feeling well... WTF? It is great that you employ people with disabilities, but if that employee is not capable of walking a few yards to retrieve a carton of milk and a bag of potatoe chips for me to buy, then I think you need to reconsider his value to your business! I just received the most racist treatment from the overnight employee. This place is awful and incredibly anti-human. We stopped here after a two hour drive from Ellensburg desperate for some snacks, drinks, and a bathroom. Unfortunately, we left with none of the above. I genuinely believe we were racially profiled; we know folks who have used this bathroom for a pit stop in the past, yet we were denied access, claiming "a city wide ordinance". They had no sympathy and were even CHUCKLING and yelling at us while my sister, who was on her cycle and desperately needed to use the restroom, cried. Their "policy" (apparently only applicable to us) is terrible and lost them my coins. I will never patronize another 76 again. read more

I am posting this review in hopes that a manager will read it: the female cashier on the morning of July 11 around 6:55 am, needs to be recognized or compensated for putting up with an irrational customer who harassed her. I can only imagine this type of interaction happens often (the seedy area) because of the cashier's calm professionalism with handling the situation. A woman who obviously wasn't mentally well was harassing the cashier, swearing, yelling obscenities & basically treating her like a piece of s***. I have gone to this diesel gas station forever, it seems, as they have diesel gas and I drive diesel cars. I was there 12/19, pumping gas into my car and it took sooooooooooooo long, (I was on pump #8), and I should have known it was defective as it took over 20 min. The automatic pump mechanism did NOT turn on/off the pump and there was an approx 3 gallon spill of diesel. I ran in to alert the employees and they seemed to think this was my fault and "didn't I know that none of their diesel pumps have automatic shut-offs" and I explained I had been coming for years and there always was an automatic shut off and the gal that worked there explained that "this happens every day" and "there is a sign on the pumps that these diesel pumps do NOT have automatic shut-off valves" (yes they do!), and that it was my fault and I explained about the approx 3 gallons of lost gas and the environmental issues w/this spill and she said, "better you than us" as she seemed to think I was asking for a credit--I wasn't--but I was distraught as there was gas all over my car and shoes. The issue is: 1. The pumps DO have automatic shut-offs 2. The employee assured me that "this happens every day" 3. There is a lack of concern over diesel leaks and these going into the storm drains 4. There is complete disregard for how things must work w/flammable gas/diesel 5. This company has this happen every day and the employees don't know what automatic shut-off systems are--or apparently how they work 6. This is a safety hazard as well as an environmental spill The gal made this MY error and it was "good that it was at my cost, not theirs, and she treated me poorly. She shouldn't work there, they should have working pumps, they should offer good service and they should train their folks. I've reported this to the EPA in Seattle. Yikes! read more

Ok. If I could give zero stars I would. I got on the freeway and forgot I needed gas. Running around for sports got me crazy so I jumped on freeway realized I had 0 miles of gas pulled in to the James Street 76, I get out of my car realize I had forgot my wallet on the table I run in panicking saying I have no gas and I forgot my wallet and I'm screwed and not sure what to do Imani behind the counter was so not helpful and more interested in watching her video I said this is totally my fault I really don't know what to do but I have no gas in my car and trust me I don't look like i'm trying to pull a fast one. I was literally getting a bit panicked couldn't get a hold of anybody she saw me in the store freaking out still didn't offer any kind of help what's really sad is she could've said you want to borrow five bucks to at least get you home nothing I will never ever ever go into a 76 station again in this day and age everybody should try to do something kind when they can read more

Overall, it's an okay gas station. It's very conveniently located. The staff is not too nice, but I do appreciate that they have air for your tires. Their gas always last a while in my car as well. I recommend for a good park, get your stuff and go. read more

Since I started coming to this gas station the facility has become an employee endorsed hangout for very colorful and aggressive misfits and homeless. One fellow was behind the counter looking psychotic as he robotically slammed an unopened pack of cigarettes into his hand over and over. I pointed this out. He immediately became aggressive. This fellow was not an employee but was behind the counter. The actual employee defended his actions by saying "remember where you are". This implied that at this gas station in this town this behavior is tolerated. As I left the gentleman came outside and kept telling me that I was rude to him. He then slugged the wall of the minimart with his fist. The wallwas finished with a very rough stucco like appearance. The fellow cut his hand. He then told me he was crazy and with a fist he slugged himself in the face. People, this is a service station with large cashes of gasoline underground. It is a major safety risk if the staff does not lift a finger to prevent these individuals from haunting this place. It is almost always a stomping ground for people that choose to be aggressive and unruly. It's a key location that I would like to use in the future but not unless people take notice and control what's going on. read more

As other reviewers have abundantly pointed out, there are only two reasons for you to go to this gas station. 1) You are stoned beyond belief and just want a place to pee 2) You want to collect the $1 million reward for proving that human beings not only evolved from apes, they are also devolving into the same. What'd you say? You like details? So do I. Went there to fill up gas as well as use the air pump. There was an out of order sign posted on the column of the air + water pumps, but the air pump appeared be working, so I assumed that perhaps the OOO sign applied only to the water pump, and went inside to ask. There was a good looking young woman with curly hair at the register, and she told me that pumping air was free. I happily proceeded to pump air, only to find out that the pump actually depleted my tire to 20 PSI starting from 29! Perplexed, I went back inside and this time, found a tall lanky guy cherishing his cup of microwaved Ramen noodles like it was his grandmother's apple pie. He confirmed that the pump had, in fact, turned into a suction. When I asked him why didn't the sign clearly state it as a danger, or why did the girl looked like a deer in the headlights when previously asked, he mumbled something incomprehensible through a mouthful of noodles. When I insisted, he advised calling my insurance company. It was then that the deer suddenly broke her trance and told me that there was another gas station few blocks down the road I could drive to. Just for the records, the gas stations few blocks down the road had their air pump broken. It wasn't until I found a third one with a working air pump, that I was able to inflate the tires to meet the safety standards and drive on to meet the appointment I was about to miss. Do yourself and other drivers a favor and report them to corporate. I did. Edit: In response to my complaint, I received an apology from the store manager, along with the assurance that she has taken appropriate steps to avoid such incidents in the future. As a result, I'm raising the rating to a 3-star. read more

A year later -- I am still lacking in automotive transportation so I can't/won't speak to their gas prices... But man. I love this station. The owner is a beer lover and takes recommendations that CW and I give him seriously. He'll tell us if he's getting something in special, or give us discounts when he needs to get rid of a last 6 pack or two before restocking it with something else. All the employees are swell -- friendly, chatty, and love it when I bring the dog in for a visit. Helo gets a week worth of lubbin every time we visit here. For snacks, emergency needs (tp! eggs! milk) the location couldn't be more convenient. So yeah, it's a swell station. And for the rest of you all out there, I just hope the gas prices match up with everything else they have going right here. read more

So I asked if I can buy drinks and he said only if can fit through the small window where money can go through. I told him it won't obviously. I have never been through this 76 Station. Great if you need Diesel if not go else where they are like .20 cents more than the Shell on 12th and James so drive the 5 blocks and save 20 Cents a gallon this is the only thing I hate about living in the city, not only do we pay more in fuel tax in King county, but also the gas stations like to gouge you as they know you can't go any where else they have you by the balls so learn where the other gas stations are at and save a few bucks read more

This was my go-to convenience store for a couple years while I lived in First Hill. I got to know some of the cashiers, who were very friendly. One of them recommended their chocolate peanut butter Rice Krispie treats to me. She said that they were really rich and I wouldn't be able to eat the whole thing, but GUESS WHAT? I totally ate the whole thing. I recently returned here after my friend's car which I was borrowing overheated, due to being stuck in One Direction concert traffic downtown (damn you, 1D!!!!!). I am not a car owner and was pretty clueless about what to do. I went to good old James Street 76 to purchase some coolant and asked the cashier, Nick, for help. He was happy to assist, and I now know how to add coolant to a radiator. This is a good place with good people and great customer service. Avoid this place if you need diesel! Their pump is almost criminally slow, and then after the tank filled up (~12 minutes!) the auto shut off failed, causing fuel to spill. I had two brief discussions with the staff about these issues and they were neither helpful nor sympathetic. One of them acted like I was a fool for driving a diesel. read more

Not a fan of this gas station. The staff are nice enough, but for some reason it's considerably more expensive than nearby stations. Zipcar fill ups are also often problematic because their credit card readers don't always accept the Zipcar gas card. They've targeted me on multiple occasions, harassing me for not liking the jacket I wore or saying that I can't come in with bags from another store. For years I have been going to this gas station as I live closeby, but after tonight I don't see myself going there unless I have an absolute emergency. Tonight my tank of gas was almost empty so I went to my apartment to get quarters, I was planning on using them for laundry but I needed to ensure I could get to work in the morning. When I walked up to the counter with my coins I was told, "Before you do anything my drawer is full so I can't take anymore coin, I already have 42 dollars of rolled coin in here." I then asked about the coworker standing next to her and she said there was only the one drawer. I gave the bills I had but didn't get as much gas as I wanted, and this left me wondering how there was no way the coin she had could be put anywhere else to make at least a little room. Also the coin I had wasn't pennies either, it was almost all quarters and as I have been turned down by them for quarters in the past I know they are something they sometimes need (although it looks like only when it is convenient). I could understand not wanting to take all of the eight dollars I had, but I feel like at least offering to take a dollar or two in quarters wouldn't be too much to ask. Anyway I have tolerated the sky high prices for gas and groceries here for a while, but I don't plan on that any longer as there is zero regard for customer service unless you have gotten on the good side of the cashier. I have added one star for the great beer selection here as well as when I met the owner once he seemed nice, but the service of the staff here is frequently abysmal. read more

Do not get gas here unless you are almost to empty and won't make it to another station. There is not another gas station in the immediate area, and they are near the freeway on/off ramps, so they charge AT LEAST 20 cents more per gallon than any other station. Ugh. read more
