I'm not much of a fisherman, so we stopped by 8200 Mountain Sports Fly Shop today hoping to get some help getting my 10-year-old son, Leo, set up to catch his first fish. Robbie went above and beyond. He spent a ton of time with us, rigged up our rod, recommended the right flies for the conditions, shared some great tips, and even took the time to teach Leo how to tie on the flies himself. I'm happy to say Leo caught his very first fish today and there's no way we would have done it without Robbie's help. In a world where great customer service can be hard to find, this was truly exceptional. Earlier this week, while on my way to South Fork for a trip to ski Wolf Creek, my buddy's and my Volkl Gitama skis flew off the roof rack at roughly 65 MPH. I saw both pairs of skis go airborne in the passenger side-view mirror after hearing a loud noise from the roof. One of my skis got the worst of the impact with one of its edges landing a direct hit on the asphalt. I brought them into the shop, and after looking over them, Kris thought he could repair the damage. He needed a couple of days for the epoxy to cure. He rented me a great pair of K2's similar enough to my Gitamas so that I didn't miss any time on the mountain, and those skied great. On day three of my trip, my Gitamas looked almost like the damage didn't even happen. I gave them a full day of skiing, and they performed just as well as prior to the damage. Had a great rental experience here for snowboards and skis. When a binding was not working right for one of the snowboard rentals they switched out all the hardware and put new bindings on right there. Prices were reasonable. Joel runs a tight ship. He is right there in the middle of the business prepping, filling orders and taking returns. They were efficient and friendly. Great tech helped us out by setting up 3 sets of personally owned skiis and waxing them for us. We also rented 4 sets of poles and 1 performance package skis for my brother-in-law. Easy process, great prices. Nephew later rented skis for him and his family. We all had great time and would recommend them if ever needing ski equipment while in the South Fork, CO area. read more

We have rented kids skis there several times and a couple of years ago my husband and I bought used demo skis and new ski boots. This year we bought used skis and boots for the kids. Service was great, and they worked hard to find appropriate skis within our budget. read more

This shop is perfectly located just 15-20 minutes outside of Wolf Creek Ski Resort in South Fork, Colorado. Hands down the best ski shop I've been to. Great ski rentals and everything needed for a great day at Wolf Creek. In the summer, fly fishing apparently is the main course. But what makes the shop so great is the owner and his love for the customer. He made our stops at 8200 Mountain Sports today wonderful and we'll be telling everyone coming this way to stop in. Excellent shop! We've been demo'ing and/or renting ski & snowboard gear here for the the past 4 or 5 seasons. Joel & his crew are always extremely friendly & helpful. They always take the time to answer my questions about their favorite powder boards & give me recommendations on demo skis. They've got an impressive fleet of high-end demo skis (nice fatties!!) and a good selection of mid-level performance skis that are much better than the straight rental skis. You can rent snowboards, but I'm not sure about high-end demo boards. The prices are fair (10% military discount - THANKS!), and they get you in/out as quickly as possible. We've never had a problem with any of their gear - it's always in great shape. 8200 Mountain Sports is our go-to shop for high-end demo skis in the Wolf Creek area. read more

They have scammed our entire family,charging us 40 dollars each person ski, saying that the equipment cost less than Wolf Creek, however wolf creek cost only 18 dollars and only for a test for ski binding costed 25 dollars. They manipulate people that don't understand how everything works and overcharged us but we learned that we paid way much more than what we were supposed to pay. read more

Convenient location, friendly people and a great selection of gear. We rented boots and skis for our kids- the boots were in better shape than what we had gotten elsewhere. We also had a set of adult skis waxed and sharpened. They did a great job, and quickly, too. They also took the time to swap out skis that "matched" for my 6 year old just to be nice. Friendly staff that will work with you, but take control of your own ski destiny! I rented some BD Zealots and assumed they included the demo boot, but the guy let me walk out with the bottom of the barrel rental boot so make sure to ask for the demo boot (extra $5)! Also, my buddy was renting a board and got some bum advice from the guy working there and was really unhappy with what he was given. Bottom line, if you rent from here know what you want and beware of anything in a category below "demo". Also, no telemark gear :( , go to Wolf Ceeek for that. read more
