To be honest this place has grown on me. The pastries are cheap but delicious. The drinks are amazing. The service impeccable. I really do love the cleanliness of the place and the relaxed atmosphere of the place. I have yet to try all the yummy things here but I'm sure they are all delicious. If I could give this location 0 stars, I would. I walked in on June 27th in the afternoon and surprisingly it was not too busy. I grabbed a butter wreath and proceeded to the check out line to order a Thai Tea with Boba. The cashier was done taking a woman's order, and as I proceeded to walk to the register, she looked at me and walked away. I really thought she was going to make a drink or help a customer out, but was I wrong! She walked towards the back area, flipped through some pages on the wall, and proceeded to talk to the 3 female workers. Two of which were passing the phone around. They conversated and laughed for about three minutes. Meanwhile, the male worker patiently worked on the customer's drinks. He seemed to be the only one on the floor actually doing his job! One of the female workers looked at me and walked towards me with her head down. She politely took my order but by then I was annoyed. I paid for my drink and my bread, (which btw was burnt from the bottom). Unfortunately, I did not notice until I got home. This location needs to train their staff all around. Burnt bread and horrible service. I'd much rather drive to the 85 in Gardena. They have waaaaaay better customer service. read more

i was disappointed with what i had ordered. it was a catering party tray of the savory kind. it did not look like the pictures. the bottom was burnt and bitter. when i came up to pick up the order i had placed a week prior, the staff said they did not have it ready at the time i selected. i had to wait about 15 min extra for them to prepare it. i assume they quickly had to put everything together. there was also a long line, so i suggest there should be two cashiers available for better flow. read more

I experienced an incredibly frustrating experience today at 85*bakery today. I am a fan of this bakery but today while visiting this particular bakery in South Gate I was appalled to see the water running while waiting for my order. I politely asked the -not very polite attendant- if someone forgot to turn off the faucet behind her when I noticed the water was flowing? She said no, she said that they leave the water flowing all day not only in the faucet I noticed but in another one. I asked if this was a corporate decision because given our water shortage in California and drought how can an individual leave the water running!?!?! Maybe they should use the water to clean their establishment because I was surprised in comparison to other 85- degrees bakeries it wasn't very clean. All I can think about imagine how many gallons of precious water have been wasted in this establishment. It's pretty disgusting. read more

Cannot stand going to this location but it's the only one in my area. Everytime I go there's about 4-6 employees walking around behind the counter and in the dining room either having conversations with each other or doing anything but attending to the guests. I feel like I wait at the counter for at least 5-10 minutes before anyone looks at me or acknowledges me. I understand that the person working the drink station is busy, but when I see you talking to a coworker who seems to be off the clock instead of telling a coworker to help with the line that isn't being attended to or at least acknowledge me and tell me that someone will be with me it's a little upsetting. When I order my drink I almost always seem to get the wrong drink as well which is pretty annoying. read more

This is the far worse store in all of LA! They open at 7am, have all their shelves empty; attitude of the staff is the worse and it's never clean. Been here enough times to finally make it my last time coming. Why open at 7am if you will have all the shelves empty and then see all the pastries just sitting in the back!?! The Hawaiian Chicken was so burnt and looked dry, that I asked the staff why did the chicken looked dry and hard, she just looked at me. This location is far worse than any other I've been to. I bought some breads meant for gifting. I was embarrassed to give them out as they were noticeably old and dry. If I were to take a guess, they seem to be 3+ days old... It is also concerning if they were safe to consume as they were next to the window in the sun. I just want to say thanks to 85 for being the only milk tea place open lol also, I'd like to shout out the hard working staff that kept things moving fast. I don't know why this location has bad reviews. But I hope mine helps. No matter what 85 I go to, I always have a great experience. And that's why I keep going back. Fair prices, wide selection. Wonderful, light, and fresh pastries that anyone would love. I enjoyed the selection but make sure to get in early because they will run out fast. We got there around 9 AM and more than half of the pastries were already gone!!! There were plenty of cake slices and other refrigerated goods available but highly recommend to get there early. I usually frequent this place and employees are usually nice but this morning Luis helped me out and was instantly rude. I have never had their drinks usually just pastries so I'm not familiar with their drink menu so I asked if I can request a drink with less matcha in it he said no and that's okay understandable. I got a couple pastries and a hot chocolate he gave me my receipt and turned around to go make drinks didn't even say a word. I wish i could gave this location a 3.5 star. The only reason that I gave this location a solid 4 star is because of the nice seating area that giving you a coffee house vibes. I went to different locations of 85c and hands down this place has the most memorable interior. I felt like I'm at my local coffee shop. I came by craving for some good coffee. I usually order the Sea Salt coffee series. However, I decided to went with my gut trying out the new Vietnamese Coffee. Unfortunately it did not gave me the coffee satisfaction that I need. I think the problem with this particular menu is that they put tons of crushed ice in it. I'm left with a bit disappointment. She offered a refund or another cake in stock. I called that night and I think Eric apologized about what happened and told me to call in the morning to see if the strawberry deluxe cake would be available. When I called the next day, Jessica was so helpful and compensated me with the cake I wanted, for all of the inconvenience. Staff gave me two hot beverages, I kindly told the lady working that the order was wrong, and she prepared me the iced beverage but in a rudely manner grab one of the hot coffees and tossed it in the trash, like not me wanting to have it with lots of anger. Right at the front door there is a big bottle of hand sanitizer for customers to use, the bakery is clean and well put together. I couldn't help but notice the selection was very limited, which was kind of disappointing. We ordered a mango cake. The mango toppings were almost rock hard and had to be moved from the cake before cutting the slices, not only were they hard to eat but they were also disturbingly sour. Over all our quick visit was not overwhelming and they had exactly what we wanted. However I'd probably drive further to a different location since they lack variety. read more
