The actual management people are horrible and the staff are a reflection of the management. The building is in a great location.

While we enjoyed our city life, we decided to move to 500 N Lake Shore Drive after viewing 10 other options. Boy, are we glad we made the decision we did. 500 N Lake Shore Drive (517 N Peshtigo Ct to ride-sharing drivers) is an awesome place to live. (A recent Plains State visitor, after a summer weekend here, said "You guys live in a resort!") Some days, it feels that way. The building is owned and managed by The Related Company. Related builds, leases out, and manages their own buildings. Such complete vertical integration results in a wonderful rental experience. Property Management, Concierges, and Maintenance all work together on a daily basis (including daily staff meetings among all of them) to help ensure that residents have a quality daily living experience. The amenities are all here - pool and pool deck with 6 grills (kept spotless by staff if a resident fails to clean up after their use), spa, huge Equinox Gym (also owned by Related), Common Area featuring fireplaces, pool table, and work/study areas, business center, special event rental rooms, dedicated dog wash, and Amazon Package pick-up lockers for secure package delivery. 500 N LSD has got it all. The staff - as a group - are bend-over-backwards accommodating and friendly. They pay attention to detail and are always willing to do the little things to make living here an exceptional experience. Resident parking attached to the building is operated by LAZ Parking, and have been easy to work with. We've been here for almost a year, and are thrilled we made the move we did. Unqualifiedly recommended!

He was rude and dismissive from the moment I arrived, and made me feel discriminated against because of my appearance and accent. No one should be treated this way--especially in a place that claims to uphold respect and professionalism. I truly hope management addresses this kind of behavior so that all guests and residents are treated with the dignity they deserve.

Building maintenance shows up right away and always fixes what needs fixing. The amenities are strong. The gym is quite large with a lot of equipment. Indoor pool means I can swim in the winter. Now, unsurprisingly, I have a cockroach infestation. I sent pictures of the roaches crawling out my drains to management -- no one followed up with me until I went into the office myself, at which point they told me they wouldn't bring in an exterminator for over a week. Every phone number routes back to the same admin person who can't help you, or worse, to a 3rd party service. The woman I spoke to at the 3rd party service straight up told me management wouldn't do anything and gave me a recommendation for a roach spray. I've now spent about $100 battling the roaches myself. No response from Natalie. Many of the tenant-facing staff are kind and friendly--I understand they're limited in what they can do for us. But the slumlord policies are absolutely ridiculous and ILLEGAL. Don't live here.

My family's experience with Dint over the last 3 wks: --We prepaid for the unit plus a parking spot in the building's garage. **After check-in, we were informed by a building representative that Dint does not actually have access to the building's garage.** We were left to make other parking arrangements on our own, resulting in our not being able to use our car during our 3 wk stay. This matter was never resolved, despite repeated conversations with Max Passa (owner/CEO) and his assistant William. --We were never provided with a mailbox key. The building management was legally prohibited from opening our mailbox without an original, assigned key. We have Xmas mail/packages that we will never receive because they are stuck in Dint mailbox purgatory. This matter was never resolved despite repeated requests. --We desperately needed a second keyfob in order to accommodate our conflicting work schedules and the rotating cast of babysitters for our toddler son. (All made more complicated due to the afore-mentioned absence of our car.) This matter was never resolved despite repeated requests. --There were no cooking supplies provided (zero pots, pans, spatula, can opener, knives...we couldn't even open a can of soup or slice an apple for our kid). After a week and a half of back-and-forth, Dint did send us Amazon shipments of pots/pans/some utensils/drinking glasses. We still had no way to use the oven (no baking sheet, no baking dish), but at least we could finally boil water and fry up an egg or two. We ended up having to spend our own money on kitchen knives, a cutting board, cleaning supplies, and other basic items. --Worth noting: when we checked in, the unit smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. There was a full mug of cigarette butts in a kitchen cupboard. The noise from the busy train intersection just below our window was so loud we couldn't hear the television. --Also worth noting: a coworker of ours rented a Dint unit in another building during the same time period, and had a near-identical experience to ours...no supplies in the apartment, used sheets still on the bed, slow/no responses to emails and calls, etc. In 2.5 years of continuous work travel, this is by far the poorest (and frankly, sketchiest) treatment we have received from a corporate housing company. We were lured by Dint's professional-looking website, but they don't have the manpower, the willpower, or the know-how to run a grownup business. If we had the budget to abandon ship and go elsewhere, we would have. Spend your money with a different company. We have filed complaints with the BBB.

An employee of the building lived on my floor and when she would be out for the night, her dog would bark constantly and regularly, until 4 am even. I even offered to help watch the dog. When I brought this to the attention of management nothing was done. I thought the disrespect from employee of the building she worked in, or even just overstep of maybe boundaries both working and living there was incredibly frustrating, aside from the lack of action taken. Management generally had an unhelpful attitude. Whether it be a lost package, a question about rent, why something was closed, when they'd finish renovating the fitness room, maintenance, etc. Originally tenants were given 2 key fobs, one was taken away during my residence, from all tenants for "safety". After the key fob situation I was locked out of the building and sent on a wild goose chase to find a master key or way in. James, the property manager, had directly informed people like Buram not to give out his info in these situations. And they suggested the sister building had access and they did not. Let alone paying an egregious amount of money to live in a 300 sq ft studio, the location is the only thing you pay for. Your management won't care. Your amenities are meh, and get removed vs updated. 0/10

I can go on and on about the struggle--being misled about construction, management discontinuing parking services for residents, fridge and no timely repair, elevators that break down every couple of weeks, constant manager turnover, gym equipment is down and not timely fixed and when it "is," another problem arises. I felt compelled to write this review after an incident that happened tonight. Today, I went downstairs for a moment to pick up my packages and thought I grabbed my phone with my Bluetooth fob. Soon thereafter, I realized I had forgotten it and had left my tangible keys at home, as well. My stove was on with a pot of rice and my dog was home. I called the "emergency maintenance line" only to have a bot tell me that "the community no longer provides lockout services." There is no front desk...I called the maintenance staff shortly after only to be met with jibberish and instructing me repetitively to call the emergency maintenance line after repeating to him the outcome many times. I asked him if he could instruct me to the correct phone number to which he replied "who is going to pay me?" At this point I heard my dog clawing at the door and my fire alarm going off. Not one neighbor answered their door except one. Thankfully, I was able to contact a locksmith that came in 15 minutes. Shoutout to these hard working and efficient individuals around the clock. My dog was thankfully okay. Don't move to the Ardus!!
