My wife and I lived here for the year of 2016 and we were very happy all the way thru our stay. The amenities are excellent and luxury resort style. The staff is amazing. The concierge my hat off to the team of staff at the front desk, we have lived in other high rises and this team is by far the best team in Chicago. Also I want to give kudos to Will and Johnny they are world class customer service. The entire team is extraordinary but these two stand out. We did not encounter any problems while we were there, they only did have a huge leak on the 12th floor and Gym, but they got on it quickly. My wife and I were down there and the ceiling just began to leak over us. We alarmed the team and they jumped on it immediately. Another problem was the pool was always super busy in the summer giving you a Las Vegas college party vive, which we were not happy at all because it gets flooded by lots of college students that don't even live there. Most of the time is was guest of guest and that was not pleasant as several times we stumbled upon overly drunk college kids and some were just wondering in their own. Hopefully that changed and management got on top of that. People would just lay towels on the deck floor because there was no chairs available. Just too over crowded. The gym is LARGE and has Amazing views of the lake and beach with floor to ceiling glass. Such a lovely place to live. Another great thing is that is so close to the beach, parks and harbor.

I love this building because of the location. After all it's all about Location Location Location! The views of the Great Lake are amazing. The sunrises are breathtaking. I love the changes of the color of the water. When the sun hits it, it makes it look like its shinning and glistening, when the clouds are dark it looks grayish, and when the skies are clear and blue, the water looks deep blue! The amenities are fantastic. The gym is large with state of the art equipment. Even the views from the gym are incredible. The staff is polite and attentive. Work orders are completed the same day.

Best building in Streeterville! I lived here for three years in a studio on the 30th floor and saw the building undergo some changes to what it offers and also in management. While I was here, the building moved from in-home package delivery and holding packages at the front desk to Amazon Lockers and in-building dry cleaning to Tide Cleaners, as well as having Internet and cable (with HBO and Showtime) included with utilities to having to get it separately. Though I felt that some of these changes took away from the more personal touches of the building at times, management made the transition very seamless, was always responsive to any concerns, and was determined to do good by its residents, honoring any previous cable contracts instead of forcing changes without discussion. What kept me at the building my entire time I lived in Chicago was its location, beautiful views, and wonderful staff. Lashanda, Immanuel, and Greg at Concierge were the best to come home to and sincerely cared about the residents, remembering my name and unit, greeting me by name, and chatting with me whenever they weren't too busy at the front desk. Roman and Ronald in maintenance were a pleasure to get to know. Work orders were always completed ASAP, and the team took the time to explain to me why things were not working or what further repairs were needed so I was also kept apprised of the situation. Kris Jackson, the assistant GM, is also very communicative and responsive to any concerns or questions about the building, always showing that she truly cares about the residents' needs. She once even got back to me when she was out of the office for a long weekend! As far as other reviews' noise concerns, I think it has to do with the luck of the draw as far as neighbors go. I did not have any loud dogs on my floor for a majority of my time at the building, so noise was not a huge issue for me. At that point, I chalked it up to the units being well-insulated for noise. However, once a neighbor moved in with louder dogs, I could see how some residents would say that barking was a nuisance. Nonetheless, working with management and the front desk could not have been easier to address the issue. They have protocols in place to talk to the tenants and checked in after any noise complaints I had to make sure the issue was not ongoing. From the moving in process to moving out (amid a pandemic no less), living at 500 LSD was a dream. The units are amazing, have beautiful finishes, and really made Chicago feel like home to me. Not to mention, the amenities floor was a godsend, especially the Equinox gym and spaces to study and get work done in common areas. I also always felt very safe in the building -- you can't use the elevator without a key fob. Even if a non-resident manages to get past the front desk and into the elevator without a key fob, there are no buttons for floors, so they would have no means of going up the elevator without a key or being first sent up by Concierge. Lastly, I could not commend 500 LSD enough for their handling of CoVid-19. They put measures in place to encourage social distancing in elevators and erected clear glass partitions at the front desk to protect employees. Despite the ongoing crisis and uncertainty, the level of service and open communication between the building and residents never wavered. They sent clear emails announcing what amenities would close, how they were addressing reopening, and security measures put in place during times of potential unrest. I was sad to go when I moved back to California but could not recommend this building enough for anyone moving to the city. The employees, the security of the building, and the beautiful units, all within walking distance from fantastic shopping and restaurants - what's not to love!

It is rare that you see 5 star reviews for an apartment building but 500 N Lake Shore Drive gets my highest recommendation! I broke this down into categories in case these are things you may be looking for in a luxury apartment experience. UNITS My unit was a studio/efficiency and it was spacious and I never had any real problems. Appliances were all new and functioned well and my view was to die for. They also have really gorgeous guest suites for relatives and friends visiting the city that are much more reasonable than hotel rates. LOCATION What can I say, after living in 6 different Chicago neighborhood, Streeterville is my favorite. The walk score is close to perfect as within blocks you have Walgreens, Chase and PNC Banks, AM C Movie Theatre, Navy Pier and the lakefront, Capital Coffee Shop, Kanela Brunch Restaurant, Northwestern Hospital, and many stores fitness locations (Puree Barre, Orange Theory, CorePowerYoga). I did not have a car and didn't miss it. There is a ZipCar in the building for urgent transportation needs outside of Uber. STAFF Will is the chief manager at the front desk and he is AMAZING. Service with a smile and he ensure that residents have what they need from the wider team. Ed and Vinny are support staff and are without question two of the coolest dudes you will meet. Haley crushes it as a general manager and Kris is just as great as Resident Service Specialist. For candor, I saw a few reviews where Haley didn't receive top markings for managing the building years ago, but since them the team has made tons of improvements and I think other residents would agree that she does a great job. No building is without challenges and I have given this team high marks because how they respond is pretty great. PRICING 500 N Lake Shore is priced competitively, and in 3 years my rent never went up more than $40. There are brand new buildings popping up all over Chicago but Relate really invests in keeping this building up and it still looks and feels new. AMENITIES The gym and the pool area favorites. There are fitness events and classes monthly and during Chicago's major events - Air and Water Show, 4th of July, NYE, the pool has a stunning view. The business center was the least favorite - the printer is often out but the Mac computers are always working. Overall, I had a wonderful 3 years at this building, and would recommend it- especially for transplants that are looking for a home away from home in a neighborhood where you can walk to just about anything.

I've been living in this building for over 6 months now and I still feel like I'm living in a 5-star hotel! All the employees here are amazing, especially Will, Emmanuel, Johnny, and Gary! The views are unbeatable, the units are gorgeous and the location is prime. I finally found a place in this big city to call home.

Love the natural stone and all around finishes, marble backsplash, farmer sink with garbage disposal, storage space, big views in unit and amenity floor! Great building and nice staff. Bill made us feel at ease during the showing, application process, and move in--great experience. From what I see, attention to detail and cleanliness is important here.

I have been living in this building for more than 3 years and I waited this long to write this review because I want a review based on facts and substance not rants or raves. I have lived only in A class buildings both renting and owning so I have a very good idea on what luxury is. I have to say that this is the most I paid for a 1 bdrm and the nicest. Is it worth it? That depends on what matters most to you. Lets start with the location...Streeterville! This is one of the top 3 areas in Chicago. I still prefer River North over Streeterville and Gold Coast but this area give you proximity to the lake and the mag mile. The area is very touristy because the building is right across Navy Pier, one of the few things I dislike esp during the summer time when tourist season is at its peak. But you can forget about that the moment you walk inside. The building defines the standard for what luxury should be. So many buildings tout themselves as luxury but after staying in this building you will truly know what luxury means. I have a one bedroom unit in the 30+ floor facing NE which gives me a great view of the lake both from my living and bedroom. The kitchen has gas range which is a big plus for people who love to cook. The bathroom is like a 5 star hotel bathroom with carrera marble and ceramic tile. Only downside is that it only has a regular not soaking tub. The storage is really generous not to mention a walk in closet. My utility package which includes everything except phone and electric bill is 135 and my typical electric bill is in the 30s per mo. Not bad at all considering I cook 6 days a week and work from home. For those of you who are noise sensitive like me here are my thoughts. Keep in mind that I have an abnormal standard for quiet so for a regular person these might not be any issue. My first year, I did not hear much from the person above me, the second year when a couple with 2 big dogs moved I could hear them more often especially when they play catch with the 2 dogs. The sound just travels easily on those faux wood floors. Its amazing that there is concrete between floors but you can still hear these sounds. You wont hear regular footsteps unless someone is wearing heels. I don't hear much from the neighbors beside me but I do hear it when the shower is running from the adjacent units. You can also hear noises from LSD and Grand esp during the super busy summer months. Construction is ongoing for One Bennet Park across the building so pick your unit well To put things in perspective, I am signing a lease for my 4th year today so how bad could these noises be right? Lets talk about the amenities, this place get 6 out of 5 stars. Yes, it even exceeds your wildest dreams. It is a wow place when you go to the 12th floor. 1. The state of the art gym is equinox. I know personal trainers who say its one of the best gym that they have seen in a rental property and I agree. 2. If you work from home like I do, the 12th floor has a big area that can be used as a work place. This is one of my favorite aspects of this building and it really brings great value to someone who WFH. 3. The pool area is pretty sweet. 4. Lots of grills and seating area out by the pool. But I think the best aspect of this building is the level of service. When I first moved in, I spoke with the bldg manager Sasha and I told her. Are you striving to be a Marriot or a Peninsula? She quickly said the latter. This is what you will get from this building. The most important aspect for me is customer service and the people behind this building knows world class customer service. Behind all this is the mother of the ship Haley Rafferty, the building manager who ensures her ship runs smoothly and flawlessly. Having traveled the world and stayed in luxury and ultra luxury accommodations, I am very critical of service and this building manager passes my test with flying colors. She is professional, efficient yet personable as well. I have raised issues with Haley multiple times and she quickly addresses it. If you have a reasonable request and a founded issue, rest assured that it will be addressed. If you are just an entitled trust fund baby brat then the issue is with you. Yes we have those types in the building as well. Another great asset for 500 LSD is Will Rivera who is the face of the building. He is the lead concierge guy. His personality and can do attitude makes living in the building even better. Emmanuel and Gerard are great too, some of the door staff need some polishing. Big props to the maintenance crew (Johnny, Aaron, Ronald). If you have an issue with your unit, they are there to fix it immediately. Every year, I try to look around to see if can find something better (quality, value and price) but I end up renewing. I will be watching you for another year and will update my review:)

Craig runs a tight ship in the best way. He GENUINELY cares about residents' concerns and wastes no time in addressing them and arriving at a solution. As I mentioned in my previous review, I've lived in several rental communities in downtown Chicago - and have worked with a few outstanding property managers, but Craig is head and shoulders above the rest, which is an absolute necessity for a positive living experience. Hands down. Special shout out to Steve Sink (Dir of Leasing) for always taking the time to catch up when we cross paths - another kind human, and consummate professional. And, finally, to the incredible door staff - looking at you, in particular, Mike and Senait, the weekday morning crew; and to the maintenance team - always smiling and friendly, and at the ready to help. I realize this update is primarily about the day-to-day operations team at Aqua, rather than the building itself, which I've already addressed below. I just feel that in a sea of pretty similar rental options downtown, it's the people you interact with on a regular basis who truly make your living experience enjoyable. And this team led by Craig, well, I've yet to experience its equal.

It was working when we toured, but we have not seen it operational at any point since becoming residents. * Hot tub cleanliness: On February 28, 2026, when we turned on the hot tub jets, a grimy black film resembling dirt began accumulating in the water. I took photos that night (see attached). This raised serious concerns about maintenance and cleanliness. * Swimming lessons representation and lack of response: During our tour in November 2025, a leasing staff member told us that free swimming lessons were offered to renters, and we confirmed this multiple times because it mattered to us. After moving in, an onsite swimming instructor told us that, to his understanding, there are no free lessons. When we mentioned we had been told the lessons were free and asked whether he had heard similar questions from other residents, he told us yes. We emailed management on February 19, 2026 asking how to enroll or to clarify whether free lessons are offered, and as of March 1, 2026, we have not received any response. In other replies to reviews that complained about amenities, the rental office has said the hotel manages the amenities. But these amenities are still advertised as part of the residential experience, and from a resident perspective the distinction doesn't change the outcome--we relied on what was represented when deciding where to live. If these issues are resolved or clarified, I will update this review. For now, prospective residents should independently verify the current status and availability of any amenities that are important to them.

This is the only building on the planet with no freight/move-in elevators so they take the other elevator completely out of commission giving ONE elevator to 18 busy floors of 20ish units. I've waited 10+ minutes just to get in the elevator and have been late for work on multiple occasions because they give the elevator to people moving in during PEAK hours. To add insult to injury, the cold/unkind and totally apathetic leasing office takes the elevator ONE FLOOR UP AND DOWN instead of using the stairs. All the residents constantly look at each other in disbelief every time it happens. They never say hi to anyone and inconvenience residents on a daily basis. Resident Events are nonexistent and when they do, they're either BYOB (seriously?) cold cheap pizza or 1 seltzer. Gee, thanks! I really feel the appreciation and value of my $2908/mo for one small bedroom. Last but not least, between the drunk people fighting leaving LIQR Box next door and the addiction clinics lining the street - this is a pocket of River North that is totally unsafe. There are ALWAYS issues out front and was even accosted by someone mentally aill walking to my car out front one day. I called Neha in the leasing office (also the biggest culprit of riding the elevator one floor up and down) to help me get the garage open to run in. It was laughable how little she cared, zero sense of urgency and didn't even ask if I was okay or follow up with me. Why hire people who clearly don't give a flying f about residents or their jobs? What's the point? Skip the overpriced bedrooms, unfriendly leasing office, lack of any resident appreciation and concern for you as a human being and go literally anywhere else. There are a ton of beautiful and amazing buildings I wish I lived in instead of Niche. Their only saving grace is the amazing front desk staff (Sherrice and Durandt) and maintenance team which has kept me here. I wish I never lived here, the office team here is TERRIBLE and the only apartment I've ever regretted signing a lease with. RUN! The place is exactly what we've…read morebeen looking for in terms of location - downtown with lots of cafes and shops nearby and a short distance to the riverwalk and lakefront. The staff is very nice, the maintenance team is very quick - we had one issue and it was easily fixed on the same day. The apartment has nice renovated interior, and it's quiet here. I work from home, and I do not hear any noise except for maybe some trains and traffic outside - but that's pretty much everywhere the same if you live in a big city. They do not have the best bike storage here- it's a tiny room with only a couple of shelves (for such a big building), not super convenient to "park" your bike there, and the spots are not assigned to residents. This was not on our priority list anyway when we were looking for the place, and we have only one bike per family, so that's OK. In general the impression has been good so far, we like it here.

If you are considering living here, read this first…read more I was charged $300 for two blinds upon move-out, described as "custom-made" and damaged beyond normal wear and tear. I have attached the photos they provided as "evidence". You can judge for yourself whether this justifies full replacement. Over multiple email exchanges, management could not describe the specific damage in writing, could not provide documentation proving the blinds were custom, and when I requested an invoice, admitted they did not have one, meaning I was charged before the replacement was even completed or documented. Draw your own conclusions about how this management company operates. And if you really have to live here, document everything before you move out, photograph every inch of your unit, and know your rights under the Chicago RLTO before signing anything here. p/s: What makes this worse is that none of this came after any prior notice or conversation. Their very first communication after my move-out immediately threatened collections and credit bureau reporting if I did not pay within 30 days. Whether this is intentional or simply a failure in their notification system, I don't know. Either way, tenants are blindsided with a payment deadline and a collections threat before they even know a balance exists.

This building and its halls are kept spotless! Whenever I call maintenance they are always prompt and they get the job done. I am extremely picky about where I choose to live and the Streeter does not disappoint. I especially enjoy dealing with Noah who is always helpful, patient and friendly! The amenities are plentiful. The jacuzzi's are maintained and kept clean. Other buildings have failed in their attempt to keep their jacuzzi clean. Sauna and steam rooms are immaculate! They have a swimming pool adjacent to the jacuzzi. They have an awesome gym too! Close proximity to everything! Unbeatable!!! The Amazon package room is run well and they haven't lost a package yet. This is impressive and difficult to achieve. Elevators run smoothly and I never have to wait. The building really demonstrates how they care about their tenants and they take pride in their jobs and it shows. I have given them a five star rating because they earned it and they deserve to be praised for their work ethic and dedication to their tenants and the community. I highly recommend the Streeter. I cannot say enough good things about them! The Streeter is welcoming and I encourage everyone who wants a good quality of life and a clean environment to move to the Streeter. I stress to you all that this is the only place where I felt comfortable and at home. Highly satisfied.
