One of the best bucket list items to do in the summertime! They played two feature films (1st one kid-friendly and the 2nd more adult/horror movie), the price was so good, and the snacks they provided were nice! Such a fun experience to do on a sunset summer night with friends, family, and your dog. The only thing is, depending on the movie and the time of summer/year, it'll be very crowded, so make sure to get there early to wait in line, or it'll fill up, and they'll turn you away. But overall, now it's a Denver staple for me, and I will go back every year! read more

This isn't a drive-in theater, it's a parking lot with commitment issues. You pull up thinking it's gonna be a cute nostalgic night, and instead you're sitting there listening to radio static like you're trying to contact aliens instead of watch a movie. You spend half the time adjusting the station, the other half wondering if that buzzing is part of the film or just the speakers fighting for their life. The screen so dim you're not watching a movie--you're guessing the plot based on silhouettes. At this point you're just there for vibes... and even the vibes are questionable. And the bathrooms?? Why does every drive-in bathroom feel like it's been through a natural disaster. Clogged toilets, dim lighting, and the smell hitting you like a jump scare--more horror than whatever's playing on the screen. Snack bar acting like it's gourmet too... charging premium prices for stale popcorn that crunches like packing peanuts and pretzels so salty they could de-ice the whole parking lot. Honestly, it's not even a throwback experience... it's a throwaway experience. I used to love this place but it's gone down hill. Also, charging 10$ for a "food permit" is actually crazy. read more

We ,gone to this drive in for 21 years,this year they are enforcing a $10.00 charge if you bring in your own food. Took our on drink water and diet soda, because they don't have the kind of diet soda we can drink. We always spend about $40.00 on pop corn and other snacks while there even when we bring our own drink. They still made us pay the $10.00 ,because we brought or own soda. We ended up paying $77.00 ,for movie tickets (2× 10.00),( 10.00 food charge, 47.00 for 2 pop corns,6 cheese burgers no condements. They need to do something about the film being so dark you can't see anything on the screen during half the movie will not be going back. I could see paying the 10.00 if you didn't spend money on pop corn and such. It would be cheaper if we paid the 10.00 and brought our own food inland didn't buy anything from the concession. We came today to bring our children for the first time. We have been coming here for years and never had a problem until today. Too many issues throughout the night that just makes you want to stay home or go to a real movie theater. We first came into to a not filled lot at all, and a lady reported our family members car parked in the wrong area. While that was true they parked next to us in the back because we have a huge truck, she moved from the last lot to try and take their spot so they staff made them move to the front. (Jokes on her she did not get the spot, even though she "follows the rules" she had been in a spot while we were in line for 20 minutes trying to get in) We understand the assigned parking but this has never been an issue before in the 20 years of coming here. While they were in the front their radio couldn't pick up the station, they went to the concessions to ask for help, they came to the car in the front of the lot, left for 20 minutes so our family members went back and they said "sorry man we couldn't find you". Excuse me in a closed lot, how does that make any type of sense. So they said you have to buy our radio, or move your car closer to us, so they said can we move back to the back with our family and they said "why yeah that should be fine" after watching us for 15 minutes gets our kids "bed ready" to make sure they moved?! Then the parking for our truck, they had waited 15 minutes to make sure our family members moved their car but said nothing about parking close to either pole, then did so after the first movie started like wth. And the spots can fit a truck and a car but not another truck, the area next to us had a truck , the rude lady an her suv and another suv and nobody could get out of their cars. The entire first movie the staff had gone up to multiple cars very aggressively banging on their windows and bothering people seemingly not doing anything. The last time was the clogged bathrooms, they didn't clean up after getting the plumbers out to fix the issue and I'm pregnant and have a toddler with me an it's just disgusting. For the hassle of nothing I won't be coming back, we have loved coming here but this is totally bullshit, if it was just the lady complaining for our family to move okay whatever because they have the smaller car. But for the lot not being full, the staff being rude as hell, and the nastiness of everything it's gone down hill too fast. read more

Decent but that's about it. I had to get a refund because we had a child and paid extra when it wasn't needed. So I Ended up paying $50 for tickets for 2 because we mistakenly paid for the child so the first payment was $30 and they fixed it and charged me another $20. They said they refunded the original transaction but I Never got a refund receipt so I guess I'm just hoping that they actually did it. The only receipt I received was the $20 transaction. Also so many people had their trunks up above their car making it harder to watch & enjoy the view of the movie and the staff didn't seem to uphold their own rules on this as when the movies starting the opening sequence states that the trunks cannot go too far above the car roof as it will block the view. read more

Honestly, i would leave a 0 star if i could. First off, the screen is so dark and the sound is full of static so not only am i fighting for my life to figure out what im looking at, i cant hear a thing theyre saying either. My husband and I spent the second night of our drive across the country at 88 Drive-In in Henderson, Colorado. This almost half-century-old (built in 1976) drive-in looked exactly as you'd expect--a little booth at the entrance, poles for speaker boxes next to parking spaces in rows, and a snack bar with typically sub-standard food that you'd find at a high school football game food shack.The only difference nowadays is that instead of connecting speaker boxes outside your car window, you tune-in to the movie's audio track with an FM radio station. My husband parked the van backwards so our bed faced the screen, popped down the bike rack, opened the back doors, put down the bed, and pulled out his DeWalt radio. He bought a hot dog and I bought a pickle just in time for Barbenheimer to start. Watching from a comfy mattress was divine. We need to go to more drive-in movies. Of course, neither of us made it through more than a few minutes of Oppenheimer (I'd already seen it anyway) since it started at 10 PM (waaayy past my bedtime). All was dandy until me and my friend were abandoned in the parking lot alone all night with a dead car and no way to leave. I'd never been to a drive in and was super excited to go for my first time. For the movie audio you use your car radio, and in the brochure they mention free car jumps if your car dies, they don't mention how the employees leave before everyone else, therefore no one is there to jump you if you need it. So I'm now sitting here, 1am alone with my friend in their dead car, debating if I need to call non emergency cause I have no idea how I'm getting home. Wish me luck. Reviewing their website, they mention they offer jumps ONLY after the final film is done. I don't understand how that service is offered when no one is around to help. I hate to stack on all the negative comments because I love nostalgia and I'm a Colorado native (in my 50s) I'll be honest I haven't been there in about three years maybe five, but as a family, we would go four or five times a year(summer) when the kids were small.. one of the kids now grown said let's go to the drive-in so as a group we went, let's just say the ladies weren't thrilled with the restrooms and trust me those bathrooms haven't changed since 80s and before... This drive in actually used to be pretty good 10 years ago. It has potential but it was so rough $10 per person actually felt like a rip off towards the end. We moved from the first spot because people were blowing up smoke/weed/cigarettes There's no restrictions of when cars move so I counted over 40+ cars headlights on passing throughout the first movie, second movie was just as bad we ended up leaving. Food was not good, funnel cakes were! The security could kinda make sure people aren't being too loud lots of people/kids running around screaming and adults yelling at each other. What a fun time! I can't say the movie quality was amazing, we watched the new J Law movie and a horror movie. The horror movie did not show up well because the screen was so dark! But the experience overall was so fun! We stuffed ourselves with popcorn and soda and it was a good time. The food is affordable and tickets are reasonable as well. There was plenty of spots on this random Tuesday night. It also started storming during the horror movie which was an awesome added effect by nature lol! Had the best time at the drive in theater! We went on a Saturday night. It wasn't too crowded and we got a nice spot sitting parked next to other sized vehicles and our view was very good the whole time. The audio is hard to hear without having your radio on in your car. The snack bar was very crowded but they have a decent selection of snacks. Getting in there was somewhat of a line but it wasn't bad and this is also cheaper than a movie at the theater. You'll have a loud blaring train 2-3 times per movie, motorcycles and sirens blended in between. headlights constantly going off, the screen is way too small for the lot. I have come to this drive in since I was just a little kid and absolutely loved it growing up and still love it! I now have kids of my own and when they are showing movies we want to see, we prefer the drive in movies versus going to an indoor theater! The only thing I don't like is how the parking is set up. If you drive a bigger vehicle it's tricky maneuvering around the parking lot due to limited space. And at times people park crooked making it impossible to park next to some of the designated poles. But the snack bar and everything else makes for a great experience. If you want to watch movies basically outside for a cheap price, the drive in is the way to go! read more

I have been coming to this drive-inn for years. It may not be the fanciest spot (the road is right behind the screen), but it gets the job done! There's always three movies playing everynight that are usually new. However, due to covid, they've been playing older movies. That's not a huge problem for me, but I would like to see some of the newer movies that have been released. Also, it would be nice if the staff stopped letting in cars once the first movie starts. I say this because all I was paying attention to were the cars driving around with their headlights on trying to find a spot. The business did a poor job at navigating the cars who arrived late. There aren't suppose to be trucks in the car section yet after the movie has begun prob. 30 trucks were driving in the car section shining their headlights in our face. Charged 3x I came here with my two 10 year old daughters when I was asked how many in the car I said 3 and they're under 12 the lady tapped my card and said it was too late. (No refund) came into concession stand to see if someone can help us out. The older gentleman that was behind the counter did listen and understood my frustration with a 66% percent mark up of my tickets. He let me know to come back a little later to talk to a Susan and he assured me she'd make it right. Came back later and asked for Susan the lady I spoke to just asked "what do you need" to which I responded I'm looking for a Susan to again she says "what do you need" no an indication that she was in fact Susan. I explained what happened and she told me that it's too late I already left the box office, to which again I wasn't given the option to get a refund then either. The conversation was quick due to the snappy response. But again no resolution was given. I've never been the person to write any sort of review for a business but the fact that there was an attitude for my request for help it felt demeaning when the other customers overheard it and they were upset and bothered for me. read more

A drunk couple decided to force their way between our truck and the truck next to us (we were on the end so we gave a little more space between us and them) in doing so the drunk couple side swiped the other truck. Unapologetic they continued to back into the spot. I asked them to move back up as they came super close to us almost hitting the side mirror. They ignored the request. I chose not to argue as my children were with me, and ultimately decided to contact staff. They had no solution. This is an unsafe situation! I kindly asked if a refund would be possible as the movie was 2 minutes into its start time. They said no. Don't waste your time or money here. Before I officially start my review, I would like to say that the other reviews concerning parking and viewing is because this drive-in is set up for old cars, when all cars were the exact same size. They park cars so close behind the rows that some people can't see. Even if both cars are SUVs, it can often block the view. We turned onto the street the drive in is located at 6:59. There was an enormously long line and they already had let 20 cars in before we got to the street. By the time we got to the ticket booth it was 7:20 and the parking was almost half full. Their menu they passed out tonight was wrong. Their prices are not true to what they actually charge. Thankfully we got there early enough to park in the front row of our color (blue). They made sure that cars were parked in the correct rows for the first movie. They made sure to announce when the concessions were closing, but made no announcement for the 2nd movie starting. Because of the lack of announcement for when the second movie started, people were leaving for the first 10 minutes of the movie. Besides the lack of human decency with headlights and leaving in the middle of a movie, it wasn't as bad as we were expecting. If the managers and owners of this drive-in want to improve and have better reviews, they will fix these issues for the next time we visit and post another review. 1 star lost for lack of announcement of sent on movie (which made us miss the first 10 minutes) 2nd star lost for dishonest/inaccurate menu read more

Ok so this isn't the latest and greatest but it's a drive in and it doesn't get any better than that. Load up the kids and blankets and it's an experience they will never forget. We saw Karate Kid and part of MIB but left early because the kids fell asleep. COVID means they're only selling 1/2 capacity and they were turning people away. We always show up early because the first time we tried to go several years ago, they were sold out. The prices are reasonable both for tickets and refreshments. They have a good selection of food and a handful of toys. We go at least once a year but since covid, trying to find things to do is getting harder. It really is great for the whole family. The reviews who said the staff was rude.... well that wasn't my experience. Every one has been really friendly each time we have gone. And if you're complaining about no refund, that's been a policy as long as we have been going. read more

To whom it may concern: I'm writing based on my own personal experience on this matter, I'm stating as accurately as I can and sticking to the facts, and will even offer some constructive suggestions even though this establishment is likely to close at the end of the 2024 season. Previously I had visited the 88 Drive In located at 8780 Rosemary St in Irondale neighborhood of Commerce City owned by Susan Kochevar since April 1976 according to her LinkedIn page. It is typical to find a line of cars on the eastbound side of Rosemary St going back a half a mile or more since the car capacity is set at 500 cars. It was a long wait but we finally got in and it was right at dusk when we parked. The ticket booth was open on both sides during this visit and there was no issue with the verbal instructions given by the attendant. At the concession building I witnessed at least one patron voicing concerns over wait times for warm food items as we waited patiently. The concession offerings we tried were the cheeseburger, popcorn, a pretzel, and a funnel cake. The cheeseburger patty and cheese tasted artificial, the bun was very chewy, as was the cold, bland popcorn. The pretzel was stale, and the cheese sauce did little to change the taste. The funnel cake tasted like bread sprinkled with talcum powder, and would've had no flavor if it wasn't for the chocolate syrup we put on it. Subsequently, I've chosen to bring my own snacks because that food I consumed soured my stomach for the next day and a half. The events on October 13th, 2024: Arrived just after 5pm and patiently waited for an hour for them to open the gates. One male employee in a white t-shirt opened up all the gates including the inner ones to the parking spaces. I pulled up to one side of the booth that was open for cars (left was blocked off by orange cones) and waited for the booth to open. 5 minutes after all the gates were opened nobody was in the booth. People behind me started honking, I found signage on the booth window which stated to pull forward and take the first right for tickets, I followed the posted directions. The employee who had opened the gates flagged us to go back but several cars behind me had already drove past the booth so I couldn't go back. I parked and went to find the manager who was already coming out of the building. I explained that I was there to buy a ticket, as instructed by the writing on the booth windows. She stated I'd have to exit and go all the way around and get in line again. Mind you, there were already cars lined up behind us during the hour long initial wait that went back 1/2 mile or more. I asked why I couldn't just pay for my ticket there since I had already been waiting, and she stated again to exit and go back in line, with no further explanation or attempt to compromise. I said that I didnt want to do that, I wanted to stay where I was and just buy my ticket. Again she insisted I go back around. I expressed that it was a ridiculous policy, and asked for her supervisors name. At that point she just paused, then told me I needed to leave and not come back. I asked why I had to leave, and asked for her supervisors name again. A male employee in a dark t-shirt came up and both started name calling. I replied how "polite and cheerful" they were, I admit to taking on a sarcastic tone but in no way was I disrespectful or call them names. The female employee shouted "Byeeee!" several times and waved louder and louder each time. They chose to make it personal instead of being reasonable. So I left through the gate surely for the last time. On the slim chance of the establishment continuing for another season I offer the following: If you want to remain profitable, please overhaul the concession offerings. Clarify the processes and don't open your gates until you have someone in the booth ready to sell tickets. Train staff to be focused on the customer experience over ridiculous policies, be reasonable. If the current staff is unable or unwilling to learn some "soft skills," hire staff that can. Took the fam to the drive in movies...prepped and got stuff to fit in our truck bed and snacks and all the fixings all day got the kids excited for 2 weeks to see the last Shrek/Gremlins showing the last kid movie showings.
