First time visitor and looking forward to our return. We have eaten at Sage Biscuit and Anna Marie Oyster Bar and never even noticed this place hidden away in the corner. Friends invited us to see Westbound & Down on a Sunday evening, and we had made reservations ahead of time. There is a large bar area and then the seating area, along with a VIP area, which looked comfy!! The tables all have chairs with casters and they are really comfortable. Our server was super friendly and brought our first drinks quickly. While enjoying the great music, we ordered the meatball appetizer and pretzel bites. The meatball was 2 meatballs, each on a baguette. The meatballs were good, but the price for 2 was a bit much. Later on we ordered wings and pizza. Sadly I have to change my review of this bar. I wanted to give this bar a chance. I love entertainment and have supported them in their ups and downs. I support Matt and Anne Coates. I'm glad they have finally Gotten their liquor license and kitchen soon. Love the entertainment that comes In but tonight was a disappointment. My husband and I wanted to stop in and see the new changes before we went home after work to support our friends. The owner Sherry was fantastic and went the extra mile to make thd night special. Our server Dawn was equally accommodating and on top of things. Long Review but worth the read, I promise . . . . If I could give ZERO stars for the behavior of the owners I would! This is relevant because it happened to me personally. The owner(s)will target any patrons, in an act of discrimination! Even ones that quietly ask questions and then express their opinion, even quietly and privately. So much for freedom of speech. And the owner(s) will make a mockery of any patron they choose to target and will do so by making a very public display. The situation I am referring to occurred 2/11/23 at approximately 10:45 pm. It happened when I approached a waitperson to inquire about prices to book/rent a table for a friend's upcoming birthday, and while doing so, I also asked why another patron was very publicly told to leave by a female patron dressed in white? Before the waitress answered me, she offered to write down the prices, and remarked that the woman in the white top was in fact one of the owners. To which I replied, "oh wow that guy was speaking out about his belief that the song sung by Alabama was a racist song, because it was at one time believed to be a statement about racism and I understood, because I have witnessed the KKK protest in front of my High School, in Madison County GA, in 1985, so I can understand when someone has strong feelings about being against racism". I then told her "It's ok you don't have to write the price down, I'm not going to book a party, to come back". To which the waitress ran over to the woman in the white dress to repeat my comment. The woman in the white top and blue jeans, very quickly and rudely, and with a presentation that was consistent with being intoxicated approach myself and my husband to demand we leave immediately. We were already in the process of trying to locate the waitress to pay and leave. She then yelled "get the bouncer, get the bouncer" and put her hand on my back, which I stated "do not touch me that is assault, get your hands off me." We were trying to leave as fast as we could but the lady in white continued to yell and soon another man was present who announced he was another owner and to leave, leave now. And he stated "that's nothing, so you get bumped into", in response to my comment about her hand on my back. We again stated we were trying to leave, we had been trying to leave since before the lady in the white presented herself at our table, but we needed to pay our bill! He stated, just leave, you don't have to pay. At that point a third person was present, whom I assume was a bouncer. Now all of this attention was because I ask the waitress why the lady dressed in white, very publicly told another patron to leave after he yelled out a public comment about the performer singing an Alabama song. The man sat at his table quietly for an additional 5 mins before leaving. He left without having a bouncer and a second owner present themselves to demand that he leave. He also didn't have the lady in white put her hands on his back to encourage him to leave. He was also speaking about a truth. It is true that there is controversy about that Alabama song and another Alabama song. But to this day it is unknown what the true meaning behind the song really was because the song writer and the artist are deceased. But that is not what my post is about. That man was expressing his freedom of speech that he was against the song. It sounded like that man was against it. The rest of comments being yelled out were about sex acts, but that was ok. Go figure! So, if you do decide to go to this establishment, be aware, that you may not express your opinion or ask questions. And remember to Sit still. Sit quietly. Eye forward. Conform to the owner(s) opinion as that is the only accepted one. BTW I believe that was why the KKK was standing outside Madison County HS back in spring of 1985, no one is allowed to think differently. We were discriminated against because I asked about the reason someone was asked to leave and because I stated don't give me prices to book a private party, I'm not going to come back for a party. RUDE OWNER AGAINST FREEDOM (OF SPEECH) TO ASK A QUESTION AND(EXPRESS) SAY I'M NOT COMING BACK. SO, I'LL SAY IT HERE PUBLICLY.
