Anyways, the grouper was super fresh and nicely cooked (not overcooked like the last one we had in Clearwater). We also tried their smash burger- totally legit! This place was honestly one of the worst experiences I've had in Siesta Key. I don't mind waiting a little when a place is busy, but the service here was unbelievably slow. We sat there forever before anyone even came over, and once we ordered it felt like our food took ages to come out. It wasn't even that crowded, which made it more frustrating. When the food finally showed up, it definitely was not worth the wait. Everything tasted bland and kind of thrown together, like no one in the kitchen really cared. For a tiki bar in a place like Siesta Key, you'd expect at least decent food, but this was just disappointing across the board. The waitresses didn't help the situation either. They came off as rude and annoyed the whole time, like taking our order was some huge inconvenience. It made the whole experience feel uncomfortable instead of fun and relaxed like it should be. On top of all that, the music was just bad. It didn't fit the vibe at all and was loud in an irritating way, not in a fun energetic way. It honestly made it harder to enjoy being there. My wife and I joined friends at The Big Tiki Lounge last night to celebrate a birthday. I don't drink or dance, so visiting bars or in this case, a lounge, is not something I normally do. I do like to eat and I like music, so that's what I will focus on in this review. The Big Tiki Lounge is indeed a very big Tiki, open to the outdoors, very high ceiling. Finding a place to park was a challenge as it is all around Siesta Village, but we knew places to check and found a spot without too much trouble. They have a food truck, The Porthole Grille. The Porthole Grille has their own Yelp listing so I will post a food review there, but I will also cover the setup here. For dining in, you need to order from the servers for Big Tiki. That didn't go as smoothly as I expect from a sitdown restaurant, but this isn't really a sitdown restaurant. Our group needed to flag down a server so we could order food. Big Tiki has a walk up bar, perhaps we should have walked up to order food too. Nevertheless, we got our order in, got our food in a reasonable amount of time, and before we left were able to pay our server. All good. I posted a photo of my food, Wagyu Beef Smash Burger. I got it sloppy, not exactly sure what that meant. It did come with cheese. I liked my burger and particularly liked my fries. I also got a good sample of their Brussels sprouts grilled and tossed in a Thai chili sauce. They were exceptionally good. I should mention there was an 18% service fee and now I'm not sure if that was for the food truck team or our Big Tiki server. Hopefully everyone who deserved some of that got something. They also added a 3% convenience fee for using a credit card. Both of these fees were well disclosed. We simply paid cash. Now to my favorite part, the live entertainment. With a strong, clear voice perfectly in tune, our singer called Casey on the Key sang popular funk and pop tunes, a little country, even a little rock. There was dancing, both from our group and others, and Casey interacted with all that very well as she sang song after song. She was really good. Casey is currently performing at The Big Tiki on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. read more

We went to Big Tiki to hear the singer Casey on the Key who is fantastic. We had the chicken tenders and they were very good. Their beer prices are reasonable but we drink rum the price for a rum and coke is $11 which is high. The high drink prices could be why the place was almost empty. Food is made in a food truck. It's a bar with a food truck. They charge $8 for chips - a very small portion - and the waitress would only give us 10 or less chips when we asked for, after paying $8. No salsa was given- only a tiny dressing-size container of pico de gallo. Not even big enough to fit a chip into.
