    888 Tows flatbed towing vehicle

The folks at 888 Tows were great to deal with on the front end, but turned difficult at the back end. We reached out to James to have our car towed after an accident. We were not at fault & knew that we would be dealing with the other person's insurance company (GEICO). James assured us that he would treat us well and would work in our best interest - charging the insurance company a stowage fee so that they would work quickly to resolve our claim. The towing company folks who came out to get our car were very nice and very knowledgeable. We felt like we had chosen the right company to work with. That said, once our insurance adjuster tried to reach out to them, they would not take his calls. We had to call the towing company to ask that they please respond. It turns out that the adjuster & towing company have a history & James will not allow the adjuster to come onto his property to view the vehicle. We felt like our car was being held hostage. The adjuster had to hire another towing company to come & get our car out of the 888 Tows lot & have it towed to another location (just down the road) so that he could do his job and get our claim started. Our adjuster told us that 888 Tows charged them $3,300 (for our initial towing & 2 days of storage)! 888 Tows might be great working for you as a customer personally, but I would caution you in using them if you are in a wreck and dealing with insurance (specifically GEICO & their adjuster).

Worry free experience, guys at 888 tow know how to handle everything. And price is unbeatable. I also got small gift from them

My parents golf cart stopped working today while they were at the beach. We were going to try to get it back with my car following with hazard lights on, but quickly realized that was not the safest option. We were out of any quick options so I just screamed at a random truck passing us on Ocean Blvd lol, but of course didn't expect anyone to help us. About ~10 min later; the truck I yelled at pulls in to see what is wrong. It turns out they're a local couple who have just started 888 TOWs Towing Recovery and Roadside Assistance. Without any hesitation Sarah and Ryan stopped what they were doing and drove to get their tow truck, came back and towed our golf cart home. If you're looking for a tow for your car or even your golf cart ;) I highly recommend using this company. Aside from helping us out in a tough spot, these two were just super genuine people and deserve your business.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This is the second time this company has towed my vehicle, and…read morethey still cannot clearly explain why it was towed or provide any meaningful information about the authority or process behind it. When I asked reasonable questions about the relationship between the HOA and their towing practices, I was met with hostility instead of answers. The customer service was appalling. Tom repeatedly interrupted me, became defensive, and ultimately hung up on me while I was explaining that I had just come from my grandmother's funeral. Professionalism was nonexistent. Even worse, while I was in the office, I personally heard an employee say, "I'm not helping anyone who can't speak English," before hanging up on another caller. That level of disrespect toward customers is unacceptable from any business. This company seems to believe that because they have the authority to tow vehicles, they don't have to treat people with basic respect or explain their actions. If your business is towing people's vehicles, answering questions and treating customers professionally is part of the job. I will also be requesting the HOA's parking policy and looking into whether these towing practices are being enforced consistently. Based on my experience, I would avoid doing business with this company whenever possible.

I would strongly caution anyone visiting the Georgetown, SC area about using BOFUS Towing…read more While we were on vacation, our vehicle was towed in what should have been a routine tow. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We were charged what we believe was an excessive amount, and after reviewing Georgetown's towing ordinance, we believe several of the ordinance's requirements were not followed during the towing process. Instead of receiving professional and transparent service, we felt taken advantage of during an already stressful situation. Visitors to the area should familiarize themselves with their rights under local towing regulations and carefully review any charges before just assuming the company that comes out is trustworthy. We did our research and contacted the appropriate authorities who led us in the right direction to inform BOFUS they overcharged us. Thankfully BOFUS acknowledged they were in the wrong and refunded the excess amount they charged above what they were legally bound to. We hope this review helps others avoid the frustration and expense we experienced in an already stressful time.

My daughter's boyfriend came down for a few days while we were at the beach. While driving through…read moreGeorgetown he felt light headed and drove off the road into a ditch. SCHP responded and requested a tow for him. Bofus came out and was able to pull him out of the ditch (it took 1 minute and 22 seconds). The truck was drivable and was not loaded on the tow truck. When he went to settle the bill he was told it was $434. I felt the charge was excessive and questioned the driver. He said it was $272 for him just to come out and $162 to pull him out. I contacted the SCHP supervisor and questioned the cost of the tow. I was told that the $162 additional charge was for a "special" tow. After determining our tow was indeed not a "special" tow, it was deemed that the driver could not charge the additional $162 and was made to refund that amount (which they did). If SCHP requests a tow and there's not any "special" circumstances about your tow, the max fee they can charge is $272. I feel that the tow driver knew he couldn't charge that amount but did so anyway thinking he would just pay the bill and not follow through with a complaint to SCHP. Beware of add on charges!!

This is very predatory. And what is up with the stores who enable this guy? Does the fabric store, the realtor, the thrift shop (of all people!), the optical place -- do they share in some sort of financial arrangement with this towing company? Is it the building owner? Is the tow company the owner? I think this seems evil. I can't imagine anyone taking pleasure in this, but the profit motive is king. This avaricious example may illustrate why the young people in this country want radical change. As a tourist destination, the "grand strand" might consider putting a stop to these practices. How about some win-win thinking: Given the area's attractions, people would gladly pay to park in this lot. So, the owner of the lot would make money and people would not be towed. Maybe even Make the Strand Grand Again!
