We ate here tonight & it was fine. nice, clean, authentic place. i had been/cheese burrito - bland (it was beans & cheese, right?) but the salsa was good & spiced up the burrito. my husband had chicken enchilada (small but tasty) and a tamale which was very good - meaty! not sure we would return here - cimarron restaurant actually looked pretty good from the road & would probably try that next time. read more

If you are driving through Elko, this is the place to eat. You can't do much better, but you can do much worse. Sure, some folks occasionally come into Elko for provisions (canned goods and the likes) and it is understandable to want a sit-down meal in a nicer setting. Great, cheap Mexican food. The carne asada was well-seasoned and the bean & cheese burritos are awesome. The beans were very flavorful and they use authentic queso fresco (white crumbly cheese, not the shredded orange stuff) in the burritos. They also serve breakfast burritos all day. SO....there were two chicken burrito options. Chicken and rice or just a plain chicken. Since the chicken only option was more expensive, I figured it would have more in it (rice, beans, salsa, cheese ,etc.). I was sorely disappointed when I opened my foil package to find a medium sized burrito. All that was in the burrito--chicken. Nothing else. Good quality, homemade mexican food that tastes good at a good price in a small town where the options are limited ............ sounds like a winner to me. Now please do not get my opening statement wrong, when I said "in a small town where options are limited" I was not implying that this place would not do well in a larger town with more options ................... nope, not at all. I live in Slat Lake City where it is hard to come by good fast food mexican, if there was a 9 Bean in Slat Lake it would probably be my favorite, go to place. The tacos are good, the burritos are better, you can get ground beef or shredded beef, both of which are very flavorful. The rice and beans are authentic and tasty and they have Tator Tots or even better yet, Cheese Tator Tots. Amazing flour tortillas!! Easy and fast. The burritos are very plain; ordered a bean and cheese burrito and there wasn't anything else in it, but it was very filling! The hot sauce was not hot at all, bring your own hot sauce and you're good to go! read more

I don't know why this place gets such high reviews. I got a taco/burrito combo. The taco was OK, altho very bland. The burrito was HUGE, but stuffed with nothing but very bland shredded beef and nothing else. Even the salsa was bland. My husband got the same combo plus a cheese enchilada, which he said was tasteless. His burrito was ground beef, and also very bland. The beans were the best thing, altho pretty standard refried beans, and the rice was so-so. I can't believe I'm saying Taco Bell or Taco Time is better, but it must be, because I'll go to those establishments, before I go back to this place. After searching all yelp entries between Winnemucca and Twin Falls, ID for a suitable birthday dinner stop while in transit from the SF Bay area to Montana, we settled on 9 Beans and a Burrito. While it was tempting to visit Bella's Espresso Cafe in Wells, and reading the reviews was great car entertainment, it conjured the things for which I often try to navigate Nevada without stopping (smoky casinos, seedy ambiance). You would think the people in Deeth Starr Valley or Beverly Hills would clue in to their fabulous location and clever naming and contribute something imaginative and awesome to the dining options in is this long stretch of high desert. Pluses for 9 Beans: generous portions, no smoking, quick counter service by a friendly guy who seemed to understand our order. Clean, uncrowded, no line, food came fairly quickly. Quick on and off from I-80. Breakfast burritos served all day. Minuses: supreme nacho chips were so generously slathered with cheese and beef sauce they were a hazard to walking out looking presentable. Paper plates were not what I had in mind for my mans birthday dinner. He ordered a sausage breakfast burrito and ended up with one with ham, no sausage. Needless to say I am still waiting to be inspired by delicious, imaginative and healthy options for a stop in Northern Nevada and Southern Idaho. read more

We went through the drive through and ordered 3 burritos. When we got home 2 were incorrect. When we called to ask for replacements we were told that they had to check with the kitchen, It seemed as though they were questioning our integrity. We returned the burritos and picked up new ones. They refused to compensate us in any way for our travel time, effort and their error. We were told there was no manager on duty and that everyone checks their burritos and that this was our fault. I love 9 Beans, or I should say, "loved" 9 Beans. For the last 4-5 times I've gone through the drive-thru I have been highly disappointed. Yesterday was the last straw. I pulled up to the window and paid for a burrito, tater tots, and a small drink. 1) The drink had no carbonation and was completely flat. 2) The tater tots were stuck/melted to the styrofoam that they came in -- like they'd been sitting on the warmer since the morning. 3) My burrito came out of it's wrapping in the to-go bag and eventually came unraveled, spilling the entire contents of the burrito on the bottom of the bag. 4) The young lady that took my money didn't say one word and had a nasty attitude of which I did not deserve. I'm disappointed because I even tipped her and I did not receive one ounce of gratitude. This resturant is small. The parking is limited. The drive thru is small for big vehicles. Our food was cold. The prices were kinda of pricy for as much as we got. We ordered the same thing but my husband got more than me and his meat looked different. Most of the tables were dirty and the place wasn't super busy. The restrooms were nasty. Great food experience traveling through Elko. Thank you Yelp. I'm a Phoenix native and husband is a Southern CA native. Have both lived in Denver for years and can't get this kind of food there. 3 in our group ordered burritos and I ordered a taco and tostada (gluten allergy so can't have the flour tortilla). Mine were very good, they all pronounced their burritos to be amazing. Husband was wishing he had room for another carne asada burrito but was too full after one. Some are commenting in Yelp reviews that the food is bland. To us, these are the flavors we grew up on. If you are looking for Americanized, overly sauced and mask all flavors with hot sauce, then this probably isn't the best choice. Plain interior but that is ok by us. Bring this place to Denver! read more

9 Beans used to be my favorite restaurant of all time. I grew up in Elko and have enjoyed more 9 Beans burritos than I could possibly count. Their burritos used to be something I bragged about to my out of town friends. The main reason they were so good was their flour tortillas. These used to be thick, perfectly cooked, huge, and good enough to eat plain. The quality of ingredients and tortillas has been going down hill for the past couple years, in part I believe because the owner can't seem to keep an employee for longer than a few weeks. They just recently completely changed the recipe for their tortillas, and now they are paper like garbage just like every other Mexican restaurant. I hope they can someday recover and go back to they way they used to be, but until then, I will give them 1 star. read more

Very fair price, we had seven in our party and the total bill was $36. The seating is booth's. Seating seven was a bit of a squeeze. I wasn't wowed by the food, but at the same time, I was in rural Nevada, and all things considered, it was fine. I would have given them four stars, but my asada burrito was meat only as was my father's. Other people in our group had beans and rice in their burritos. I had a very terrible experience at 9 beans and a burrito in Elko Nv. While visiting Elko to see my family I decided to pick up breakfast burritos for my sister and mother. The burritos were wrong and when I repeated myself saying bacon and eggs breakfast burritos 3 times they thought that I wanted potato and egg burritos. They messed up and would not give me free burritos that were the thing I ordered: BACON AND EGG NOT POTATO AND EGG! I had to drive all the way home to discover that the order was wrong. When I called back to take the burritos back they had to ask the cooks if they put bacon in the burritos as if I was lying. It was insulting to say the least. When I returned with the burritos to get the replacements and asked for the manager a funny thing happened. The manager was not there and I got a high school girl around the age of 16 to preform the managerial duties of fixing a customer complaint and wrong order. She is never going to make it in the world of managers because she was not one, did not remedy the problem, did not offer anything to compensate, and was generally young, disrespectful and stupid. The service at 9 Beans and a Burrito is terrible!!! So is their food!!! read more
