They were - and still are - in the midst of a pretty significant plant sale (annuals, perennials, indoor/house plants, succulents, etc). Ultimately, I do think the timing of my visit during this sale impacted my experience. For one, the assortment of indoor/house plants & succulents was minimal and generic by the time I got there. While I was able to grab some herb plants and a Aeonium Kiwi succulent that I had been looking for, there was a pretty significant amount of the plant inventory that was looking pretty sad and wilted. Inside of the market is another tidbit that could see a bit of improvement, perhaps. While there's a nice variety, it also feels crowded. I've been to similar markets and they try to create aisle ways that allow for carts in both directions, etc - but that's not really possible at Shores Sisters. On a busier day, navigating the aisles feels like a bit of a cluster. Also, because of the location of the checkout area? Any backup in the checkout queue means folks spilling out into the already crowded aisles that people are trying to navigate through. It's not great. That said, the market does have a nice selection of jarred goods, produce, baked items, and so on. Perhaps one of my only disappointments with what was available in the market was, for example, that I went to grab a container of strawberries and it had a Dole label on it. I can get those anywhere... I was hoping for something supplied more locally. In terms of the cafe experience, I ordered the sandwich special: a blackberry grilled cheese (a grilled cheese with bacon and a spicy blackberry jam). It was noted that the blackberry jam was low spice, but I honestly tasted barely any spice at all... and I was looking for it (and I tend to pick up on spice/heat pretty easily, so I was surprised). I had also ordered a taro milk boba tea... and while the taro flavor was good, the tapioca pearls hadn't been cooked enough. Tapioca pearls have to be cooked in order to allow for their softer/gummy-type texture, and my tapioca pearls has a softer outside, for the most part, but almost all of them were undercooked and thus still harder on the inside. It was unpleasant. TL;DR. I'm trying to chalk up my feelings about this place to them being low on inventory because of the sale + having been busier than usual. That said, it's a decent drive (over an hour), and today's experience doesn't necessarily motivate me to hurry up and return. Maybe some day, but it'll be timed very differently.

With that recommendation in mind, my mother and I stopped by to see the shop when we were wandering through Owego to do a bit of shopping. We were delighted by the selections in this cute confectionery shop - and besides jars of my peanut butter and a couple selections of fudge, we also bought cheese, peanut brittle, and various jarred, pickled items. I'm much more a fan of savory vs. sweet, so it was nice to find selections that covered all kinds of tastes. The man tending the counter was an absolute sweetheart and offered to let us try samples of the fudge flavors before we made our selections. He was very courteous when assisting others in the store as well. My colleague also mentions this place has things like SO MANY basket options for the Easter holiday. It seems like they really prepare for the various holidays throughout the year + want to ensure they offer quality product. Great experience all around - I'm sure I'll be back (especially when I need more peanut butter!), and I'd recommend it to others as well. :)

We used to live just around the corner from Gerry Tull's. And after moving away, who would've thunk…read morethat one of the places that I miss the most is a convenient store!! But this family-owned convivence store is much more than just that, and when we recently road-tripped through the area, I had to stop in. Sure, it is a handy store with basic staples, when you need to grab a quick grocery item. But Gerry Tull's is also a well-loved and delicious sub shop, too. The counter has sub slips for you grab and mark up to customize your sub toppings just as you want them, to which the friendly sub makers happily oblige your sub-wishes. When we recently stopped in, the phone was ringing off of the hook with sub orders, so happy they are still so great-sub-popular!! On top of subs with fresh-cut cold cuts, there is a well-stocked deli for purchase of fresh-cut cold cuts too. Gerry Tull's doesn't stop there in the many hats it wears so well--it's also an ice cream shop!! The soft-serve is absolutely delicious here, with many hard-scoop flavors too. And what's next??--Gerry Tull's is also a redemption center!! Bring your bags of cans and bottles here for easy returns. And when you're done??--How about a round of mini golf??!! Gerry Tull's has a fantastic putt-putt course to round out your visit. I can personally vouch for the high quality of this putt-putt course because when my family used to live here, my dad helped to build it. And after many years, his awesome obstacles still stand, still going strong for lots of family fun!! Inside the store, there were really nice Gerry Tull's tees for sale too, and of course I had to purchase one for my dad, who was thrilled to see it when I brought it home, and more thrilled that his mini-golf-handy-work is still alive and well. About the only thing that Gerry Tull's doesn't have is gas, but there is a gas station right across the street should you need some when you come out to visit ... so come out to visit!! Make a day of it at Gerry Tull's, with subs for lunch at the picnic tables, followed by a round of mini-golf, then ice cream for dessert, and drop of your returnable cans and bottles while you're at it!! The spot is in the same location as a yoga studio. I've been seeing this a lot with yoga studios, the place will have a juice and/or smoothie bar for people to grab something healthy after their workout. This juice longue had smoothies, smoothie bowls and protein/super food add ins for their smoothies. They also had juices but they were pre-made. I'm not favorable of places that sell pre-made juices, they are not customizable that way and I just don't like the idea of them sitting on the shelf until they are sold or tossed. The place did not seem like it did a high volume, which may be unfair to say, I've only been there once, but I would much rather spend my money on a freshly made juice. The juices sounded tasty, ingredients like kale, beets, carrots, apple, ginger, pear, pineapple and more. Their super food add ins were maca, cacao, flax, turmeric, cayenne pepper, ginger, spirulina and others. You could order a wheat grass shot or hot shot too. I came in strictly for a green juice but they didn't have any available. That's what I mean, they only had two out of their three juices at the time because there weren't any others made. I was also interested in getting a ginger shot but the woman behind the counter said they just had a pre-made hot shot which was ginger, lemon and turmeric. Again, the pre-made shot wasn't idea but I was desperate for some ginger so I grabbed one. They were in a fridge nearby and they were tiny. I paid $4 for the shot and it was definitely one of the smallest ginger shots I've had. My go to place on Long Island sells their ginger shots for $1.25. They are made right in front of you, fresh and customizable and they're triple the size. Because of the cost, quality and quantity I would likely not come back here for a shot. You can buy the same thing at Wegmans for the same cost and it's double the size. When I walked into the juice shop I stood at the counter for a good two minutes while the woman working was blending up a smoothie. She didn't turn and say hi, didn't say she'd be right with me, nothing. It was awkward and I almost left. Eventually she finished what she was doing and helped me but the place definitely left something to be desired. The smoothie bowl she was making looked absolutely delicious though. Like I said, this place could be so much more. I'd come here every single day if they had customized freshly made juices available and better options for power shots.
