The moving crew arrived only a little late, but it was not a problem as I was notified ahead of time and kept up to date all along the way. Once arrived they each greeted me and got right to work! I've used 916 Movers 3 times now, I think it's way past time I write a review. Put simply, these guys are the best around. First, they charge a very fair rate. They have always been on time, and they get right to work and are very fast, but still respectful of your belongings. If there is something that shouldn't be moved in its current state or needs special attention, they make sure to point it out to you. They'll wrap all your furniture for you and they bring their own blankets and straps for especially fragile items like your TVs, mirrors, etc. Save yourself the time, hassle, and headaches that come with going the U-Haul route and leave it to the professionals. My husband and I needed to have a 400+ pound commercial treadmill moved from the upstairs master bedroom in our house to the garage. After seeing what it took to get the treadmill upstairs in the first place, I was leery about finding a mover who would do a good job of not only getting it down safely, but making sure nothing was damaged in the process. I called Steve and he was so great from the get-go. He has a great deal of experience moving exercise equipment and was able to get me on his schedule the same day I called! He showed up with the right amount of guys (4 total) to get the job done right. This is a five-stars-plus company. I had a small move - less than a mile and not much stuff. Two of the companies I asked for quotes never bothered to contact me, one other told me such a small move wasn't worth his time. I was a bit desperate when I contacted Steve at 916 Movers. He told there wasn't any job too small for his guys. Aaron and James showed up on time and were as polite and professional as they come. I called Steve two weeks prior to my move last month. He answered all of my questions and explained what to expect. I told him I did not want any surprises. I requested Ruben and Matt to be my movers and there was no problem with that since I called ahead. Ruben and Matt arrived and I explained what I wanted done and they listened and added some valuable ideas. They started moving my belongings and were what I call "puzzle masters" because they were able to fit all of my things, like a jigsaw puzzle, into the truck.. They packed things neatly and took such great care of my belongings. Moving can be one of the most stressful events in your life. Ruben and Matt took the stress out of my move. These awesome guys packed our truck for us today and I couldn't be any happier with the service we received! They were fast, careful, and even though I kept getting in the way (sorry), they were super friendly. Sorry for the late review but Al, Aaron and Archie are the best! They helped me move out of my upstairs two bedroom apartment in Rancho Cordova to a downstairs 1 bedroom in Citrus Heights. They went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my move - they helped me put on a mattress cover for my Queen size bed that I couldn't figure out on my own, they dismantled my bed frame so it would fit through my narrow hallway, and they even helped move my TV and a few other valuables that I was concerned about sending with movers I wasn't familiar with. They finished in less than 3 hours! If you're going through Yelp looking for inexpensive movers you've found your match here - I quoted about 5 other places with less stars on Yelp who all wanted about $20-$30 an hour more. Not only that but these gentleman are friendly, respectful, trustworthy and Incredibly hard workers. 916 movers are the best around :D read more

I used this company recently to move a one bedroom apartment into a house. I did like the 2 hour min. however beware as I DID NOT Save any money. The two man crew took their sweet time loading the truck. I have never seen it take so long to load a truck. They even took a long time to drive to the destination. Over $500 later I was moved in and they weren't able to load everything into the truck. I still had to move things on my own. I will NEVER use this company again. Look further as there are less expensive options out there. On a good note, the movers, while slow, were nice and were careful to not damage any of my belongings or the walls. read more

I had to pack a "UPack" van for a long distance move on short notice. 916 was able to give me a next-day appointment. They arrived on time, were efficient, friendly, careful and even able to save me some space. They took apart and wrapped (most of) my antique furniture, and even were able to haul my piano up a very user-unfriendly ramp. I waited to review because I wanted to see how things survived the pack and move across the country. The reason I give only 4 stars is that while everything they packed and wrapped came through with flying colors, they neglected to wrap and cushion my antique dining room chairs, but rather just stacked them one on top of the other. When they arrived, I found 4 out of 8 chairs with broken backs and/or arms (hopefully fixable). Truly, I should have wrapped them myself earlier, and should have been on top of it on moving day - in the future I will do so. So although I am ultimately responsible, I relied on them to know what needed to be wrapped and how to do so. My suggestion (and this is probably true of any moving) is that one person should be detailed on moving day to do NOTHING but watch everything going on the truck, and asking for extra care if you think it is necessary. Anyhow, other than that one problem, I was very happy with them,and would use them again as well as recommend them to others. read more

I used 916Movers yesterday and it was an absolutely terrible experience. I used them because my former roommate had used them to move and she recommended them. Unsure if all the guys are like the ones I had, but they were so so so bad. First, they were over an hour late for our appointment time due to going to Davis instead of Sacramento. Then they took over 2 hours to move a measly 1 bedroom apartment that was all packed and ready just down 1 floor to the truck, using an elevator (this was in addition to my father and I doing about of 1/3 of the work when it was clear that they were trying to take as long as possible due to being paid by the hour.) Eventually my dad just asked them to drop everything on the curb at my new place and he and a friend helped us get it all into the new place so we wouldn't end up paying for over 5 hours of work to do a 2 hour job. My dad and friend took under an hour to move the whole apartment upstairs and in (while taking multiple beer breaks, so it is clear it wasn't a lot of stuff). After getting all the stuff inside, I noticed that several pieces of furniture were broken. When I called Steve (the owner I believe) to let him know that I was disappointed but that I wasn't calling to ask for any sort of compensation, instead of being receptive to what I was saying, he was argumentative. When I told him that several pieces were broken he said, "well they said your furniture was rickety." I am a student and while much of my stuff has come from my parents and isn't brand new, it is all nicely used and I would certainly not classify it as "rickety." Regardless, "rickety" or not, shouldn't a moving company at least be apologetic for breaking things? All in all it was an absolutely terrible experience and was more stress than just doing it all myself with my dad and friend would have been. Considering I had to pay over $250 bucks for half a move and broken furniture I would absolutely NEVER use this business again. Thanks for nothing. read more

I was a bit skeptical at first of using a moving service, I've heard the stories of things getting broken, and all that stuff. Well these guys totally changed my mind about movers! First of all, I had to use movers to move my Grandma from Elk Grove to Roseville, so I was a little freaked out about how my Grandma would handle it. So I call these guys (Steve), and he askes me a few questions about what his crew will be moving and how many rooms and all that stuff, he gives me an estimate and after calling a couple other places it turns out his was the best quote. He also said he has a two hour minimum but I wasnt worried because I knew Granny's condo was going to be longer than that. Oh! And the best part about the quote! It was very accurate with no suprise add ons. So I make the appointment with him and he wasnt on time...He was EARLY!!! That was awesome. They show up early and get straight to it. I didnt stick around to watch them work too closely or anything because I didnt want to get in the way. These guys were professional, efficient, and most of all gave an accurate estimate of how much it would cost, I was mostly worried about that. Moving sucks, I'm telling you, let these guys do it for you, its totally worth it. Totally. It's Granny approved, that, doesnt come easy! read more

If you are looking for efficient movers, these guys are the best. I was extremely impressed on moving day as they packed and unpacked their truck at lightning speed. After the dust settled and the blur of a quick move was past, I realized what lightning speed moving entails: dings and scuff marks everywhere, a broken lamp, and missing pieces after they disassemble furniture without letting you know. It was nice that their efficiency saved me some money in terms of moving time, but I would have much rather they took their time and done it carefully, even if it cost a few more bucks. read more

We recently had a big move, and hired 916 Movers based on the number of 5 star Yelp reviews they had received. Overall, we were satisfied with the move, but there were a few things we weren't happy with. Here are our pros and cons for this moving company: PROS: -Movers were friendly and nice. -Movers were careful with our belongings. Only a few things were damaged in the move. -Movers accommodated our wishes to also load our stuff into a smaller moving truck that we'd rented, and make an additional stop at a storage unit. CONS: -At times the movers seemed very slow, and not just because they were being careful. There were many times we observed some of them just standing in our yard doing nothing. For what it costs per hour to hire this company, this was a little frustrating. It also led to our move taking a total of 14 hours. -When we first called Steve, we told him we had a very big move and we were worried that all our stuff wouldn't fit in his truck. He assured us that his guys would make it work. About three or four hours into the move, with most of our stuff (and ALL of our furniture) still inside the house, Steve called us to say that his guys couldn't fit everything into their truck + our truck, and so he'd have to send 2 more guys and another truck, which would cost us an additional $90/hr. We didn't really feel like we had any choice, since we had to move, but felt this could've been handled better. First, I'm not sure why the movers didn't focus on loading the furniture in the trucks first, since we told them we had another week to get all the boxes out and just needed them to get all our heavy stuff. I don't think we would've needed additional movers or space if they had done this. Second, since we had voiced our concern over this very problem & Steve had said they could do it, when he found out that they couldn't I would have liked it if he could have given us some kind of deal or discount on the price of additional movers. It just seemed like bad customer service. -Trash was left in the yards of both houses, and one of the movers kept placing a large, sweating drink directly on the wood of our antique sewing machine. Overall, I liked the movers themselves, but the efficiency and customer service of the company left something to be desired. read more

Had a great move using this company. It was in the midst of the "stay at home" orders and the whole move thing had been very stressful since it was generated by a landlord who suddenly decided he had to move into the house we'd been renting for 2+ years. The owner (?) responded to my call reasonably quickly and scheduled our move for less than a week later. We have lots of (i.e., too much) stuff and the move took a while on a hot June day -- but the 3 guys who did the move (Darren, Jesse and, sadly, I can't remember the name of the lead guy - apologies) were all were cheerful and a pleasure to deal with. There were no problems on their end except for forgetting to unload a glass piece that one of them took in his car, rather than on the truck -- he was very apologetic and diligent about getting it back to us a couple of days later which was fine. It was maybe a bit on the pricier side, but definitely worth it. read more

Never used movers before and was a little nervous about what the "true" cost was going to be. I chose this company because they seemed the most straight forward with their pricing. At the end of the day there were no surprises. These guys showed up right on time and ready to work and it was going to be a hot one with a high of 110 degrees. Jay, James and Jazz never complained once. Jay took pride in his job of packing the truck carefully and methodically to accommodate as much stuff as possible. James and Jazz worked really hard and again... no complaining/whinning about the heat. It was what it was; hot! so they made the best of it. (I should add that they had no AC for the 45min drive to the new house at the heat of the day too). I would use these guy again in a heart beat... but unfortunately I hope to never move again... so I will just highly recommend others to hire these guys if you need movers. They were hard working guys, polite, and just great people to work with. read more

Steve provided excellent customer service and follow through in setting up an appointment for me. All I needed was to move my washer and dryer upstairs in my new home. Steve made every effort to get someone to my home as soon as possible. Once the movers arrived, they had no trouble at all getting my front loading machines to the second floor. They even hooked them up and tested them for me! They were totally friendly too! The price was very reasonable considering they arrived after hours. I would highly recommend that you use 916Movers! These guys were very talented and professional movers. Good guys all together. Great customer service. Did not have ridiculous rates. Had them move my mother and main family home over the weekend. They were there on time and after getting a layout of what was needed they went straight to it. Turned out my mother wanted to bring more items than originally expected but the guys had no complaints and did what all was needed to get the job done. This including the bulky refrigerator that was assembled in my moms' house. They figured out a way and got it through the door frames. Had them for five hours and when they were done my mother was already pretty settled in as they placed and set things up right where she needed them. Really appreciated these guys.
