It's interesting to stumble upon the fact here on Yelp that 99.7 Movin' had to be rebranded and became 99.7 Now. My apologies, but I have to say I'm one of those who was very offended back one day in 2006 when my then-favorite radio station, KFRC, was suddenly and secretly replace by Movin' 99.7. So if it's done due to some sort of "failure", then its a bit of small justice. At least now there's FM 103.7 that is the same or maybe even better than the former KFRC. Hooray for that! I barely listen to radio. I mean, how many times can you listen to the same damn stupid pay-for-play songs? Thank goodness I only have a 8.5 minute drive to work in the mornings. I just play a CD or my iPod and don't have to worry about stupid morning shows or hearing the same old songs. Since the quality of Hip Hop & R&B radio has declined in the Bay Area, when I actually do listen to the radio, I usually tune in to MoVin 99.7. They aren't afraid to play new music and different genres outside of ringtone rap. Yeah, they play alot of Miley & Taylor Swift, but they also always have the new jams before other stations. I'm a music junkie and always have the new songs before they hit radio, and sometimes radio sleeps on some of the hottest jams out there. MoVin 99.7 is by far the only station in the Bay that knows what's hot. Then one day I noticed something new. Two unfamiliar voices in the morning. Who are these Fernando & Greg people and where did they come from? I have no idea, but I like them. It's nice to hear "familiar" voices on the radio, if you catch my drift. I got tired of hearing macho sexist pigs with their one female co-host. F&G to the rescue! read more

ST JOHN YOU'RE SO FIERCE!! I've been listening to this station since they first came out in hopes they would resurrect what Z95.7 used to be during the 90's. It was a little bland in the beginning. The DJ's were nice but were lacking a bit of je ne sais quoi. And then... St. John showed up. =) I'm so happy he left that "other station." He gave the Movin' more personality. I love the mix of music they play on here. Hip hop, pop, top 40 and even... rock?? =O They actually play a song from All American Rejects on here. And if you don't like anything they're playing, you have the opportunity to participate in their Movin' Music Panel online and rate songs so they can cater to their audience's preferences. I also like how you can text or submit songs online to win some of their prizes. Because calling in is nearly IMPOSSIBLE. Ugh. Stupid busy tone. But their prizes are great. They recently raffled away a CARRIBEAN CRUISE. =O Bring on the great music! I listen to this station everyday for six hours a day at work and I'm still not sick of it. =P read more

"It feels goooooood.... you know it feels good...." A few months ago I was switching radio stations and came across this, and I did a Scooby-like "honh?" reaction - is that Tony! Toni! Tone? WTF? Awesome! True, they need to stop playing "Promiscuous" all the fucking time. I think we, as a people, are collectively sick of that song. But I enjoy a radio station that puts plays "Poison" and "Lookout Weekend" and then "Listen" by Beyonce, then some Justin, En Vogue, Madonna, and so on. It truly does make me smile and bounce around in the car, and that is exactly what San Francisco needed: a radio station that makes everyone, including white girls, get excited and bounce around in the car. This often puts me and the hubby in a good mood as we drive around the city, and especially when we leave the city. It's also really good bridge-driving music. Oh, and love that love trap with Balthazar and Maria. Ding for the too-heavy rotation of certain songs, such as the aforementioned Promiscuous. read more

Do you too get confused and think you're listening to Wild 94.9 only to look down and see you're not? St. John's voice is all over this station! I'm not gonna hate, because I love the old school freestyle and house music from time to time, but one of the reasons why 94.9 began to get played out was because of this. It was constant and repetitive. This station used to be my favorite when Baltazar and Maria did their morning show, then they dropped Baltazar and Maria was out there alone to fend for herself. Granted, she was the reason why I listened to the show in the first place with her Love Trap! My favorite new radio station! I just discovered this back in March, when I re-entered corporate America and began commuting in the early morning to work. The music they play is uplifting, and just my speed (I find myself having grown out of the hard-core rap, hip-hop, cuss-word-laden music that I used to absolutely adore). The morning show (Balthasar and Maria) hosts are hilarious, spontaneous, and down-to-earth (at least, they seem that way). This morning, for example, I heard the following exchange between Balthasar and Maria (may not be verbatim, but this was the gist): B: Maria has a look on her face...like she's thinking of something. M: I'm always thinking of something, 24 hours a day! B: Well, you looked like you wanted to say something, like make fun of my singing. M: It's not always about YOU! You act like the whole world is a mirror. B: Well, okay, I guess that's what she was thinking, that it's not always about ME. M: You want to know what I was thinking? I'll tell you what I was thinking. I was thinking, "Could we hurry up and get through this break so I can go PEE!" Hahahahaha. Had me laughing pretty hard. And their "Love Traps" - wow, vicious! These poor men are just slitting their own throats on public radio and made to look like cheating dogs...oh wait, they ARE cheating dogs, hee hee. read more

99.7 is a pretty good station although sometimes they play music that I really do not like and can be repetitive with their selections. One time they played two lady gaga songs back to back.... I mean really? I am very happy that they brought Fernando and Greg back to a bay area radio station. They are a great way to get going in the morning! However, I do miss their ability to play whatever they wanted from the electronica genre and Fernando's morning mix was usually really good. Now I feel saturated with Miley Sirus and Taylor Swift.... which I have heard far too often in the course of a single hour. read more

I really liked KFRC. I like oldies. I'm old. Sorta. I really hated that they disapeared one day with no warning. I mean. I can handle change when there is notice. I would have looked around for another similar station had someone said something. But when you start your car up and expect your regular morning show and its not there, you get a little pissy. Especially if you haven't had your coffee yet. So I couldn't find anything else to listen to as I scanned while dodging bicyclists on Fulton then on Oak. I thought I found something just as I got cut off by a Mercedes at Octavia. I ended up turning it back hoping it was just a bad dream. After a week or two, the music started growing on me. I started hearing familiar tunes from my youth like Sade, Sugar Hill Gang, Beastie Boys, Boyz II Men, Shai, etc etc etc. I won't further date myself. Anyway, I like the new morning show of Baltazar & Maria. I really like the reality-radio 'Love Trap.' It's sad that so many people cheat on their spouses. I'm glad that they get caught. I'm glad that I stayed on 99.7. I can still sing along with tunes I remember. Like what their logo says, they play all the hits. However, this mostly consists of pop music. I would like more variety in the music they play (more R&B and Hip-Hop). The reason I like this radio station is that this station does not repeatedly play a song to death as much as other radio stations. The playlist they follow is actually tolerable in my opinion. The night shows ("Party Rock Radio" and "Ghetto House Radio") on the weekends are pretty good. Mostly techno and dance music all night! I don't really like the morning show and stopped listening to it. No real complaints. It's an okay radio station that plays lots of pop music. read more

Does it get any better than listening to the Love Trap in the morning? Tune in around 9am T/Th for the next sucker to get caught sending flowers to the person they're banging that's not their spouse/bf/gf. It's awesome. They play a mix of hip hop/r&b and great oldies like madonna, prince, MJ, Salt and Peppa, etc. My only complaint is they don't play enough of a variety of current hits...I hear Sexy Back way too often. 5 stars for the Love Trap, 4 Stars for the Music. Lately, I've set my clock radio to Movin 99.7. Their format is "music that makes you feel good" -- a concentration on Top 40 urban dance pop from the 80's and 90's with a sprinkle of current stuff. For a thirtysomething like me who appreciates a little pop music now and then, it's a stroll down memory lane every morning as I try wake and get my ass out of bed. Like this week, for example... Monday ----------------------- "Runaway" - Real McCoy Ugh. What bad disco did I get transported to? I never liked this type of techno europop. All they need to do is play Haddaway's "What Is Love" and Snap's "Rhythm is a Dancer" to completely ruin my morning. Mondays suck. "Into The Groove" - Madonna Things have gotten infinitely better. This is my favorite Madonna song of all time. "Hey Ya" - Outkast "Shake it like a polaroid picture..." "Together Again" - Janet Jackson We move from the creators of the track "Ms. Jackson" to Ms. Jackson herself. This is one of my favorite Janet songs from my favorite Janet album, "The Velvet Rope". It's so much better than her latest effort. "Rock With You" - Michael Jackson A Jackson double-hitter! Another classic dance track from another great album, "Off The Wall". He sounded so good in 1979 before he turned into a crazy white man. "1,2 Step" - Ciara Fun, catchy track. I like Missy Elliott's homage to Teena Marie's rap from "Square Biz". Tuesday ----------------------- "Dress You Up" - Madonna I haven't heard this one in a while. I like it -- it's a catchy tune from the "Like a Virgin" era. When I hear this song, I'm reminded of the video of her performing this live wearing three hundred bangle bracelets and five different clashing prints. Her dye job had seen better days. "Let's Get It Started" - The Black Eyed Peas They performed at a celebration for my company recently. I didn't really care for them that much before, but after seeing them live I have a lot more respect for them. They really knew how to work the crowd and bring the energy up. Wednesday ----------------------- "A Love Bizarre" - Sheila E I love the groove on this one. It makes me want to dance. Well, normally it would make me want to dance, but not first thing in the morning. At least I don't want to fall back asleep. "All For You" - Janet Jackson They play a lot of Janet Jackson on this station. Interestingly, they don't play anything from her last two albums. This is the most current track they have programmed. "Like A Prayer" - Madonna And they play a lot of Madonna. I prefer the remixed version from The Immaculate Collection. "Yeah" - Usher "We want a lady in the street, but a freak in the bed." Thursday ----------------------- "What Is Love" - Haddaway Shoot me now. (See Monday.) "Unwritten" - Natasha Beddingfield I like this tune. It's light and potentially refreshing although kind of artificial. Like Cool Whip. "Super Freak" - Rick James In the first eight bars, I had a bad reaction: "Crap, it's M.C. Hammer." Thankfully, it was the original. I have that initial recoil every time. M.C. Hammer ruins everything. "Always Be My Baby" - Mariah Carey This ballad doesn't really fit in the whole "music to keep you moving" theme, but I like this song. I have to say a few years ago I really didn't care for Mariah Carey when she started doing her hip hop thing, but she's grown on me a little since. Friday ----------------------- "Livin' La Vida Loca" - Ricky Martin What did I do to deserve this. I must say, though, he's still easy on the eyes. "When Doves Cry" - Prince Ah, it brings me back to the summer of 1984. The groove on this record is classic. "S.O.S." - Rhianna There was no getting away from this track last summer -- so overplayed. Did you see her on So You Think You Can Dance? Worst lip-sync ever. At least make an effort, darling! "This Is How We Do It" - Montell Jordan I think about the California AIDS Ride when I hear this song. A couple of my friends and I were trying to get up this steep hill. To take our minds off the pain, we just started singing whatever we could think of. I don't know any of the words to this song, but we just kept saying, "this is how we do it." read more

My car pool buddies & I used to listen to Movin' from the minute we backed out of my driveway @ 5:15am 'til the minute we returned home @ 6:30pm... The radio dial NEVER changed, in the car or at work!! Baltazar & Maria were the best!! They had us all busting up before the sun even came up. It was great. They seemed to have the greatest on/off air relationship. We'd call in and they'd chit-chat w/us. Listen to our point of view. Super friendly & super down to earth. I love this station. My car, even though has a really good sound system, is always on this station. I dont bother having CDs or MP3. when I am at the gym, I'm listening to it. Its the only way I can run my 3 miles. No other station will provide the same up beat music that makes my run easier. I even listen to it online when I am at work. Morning Show = 2 stars now that it's no longer the Balthazar & Maria show. They were such a good team! I've tried to listen to the show with just Maria in the mornings and it's just not the same. I don't hear Balthazar's hilarious and addictive laughter. There's no chemistry anymore because there's no one left! It's more just Maria talking and ranting about topics that find somewhat interesting, but not enough to keep me captivated during the morning commute! I also think her commercials are super annoying. Stop trying to make it sound ilke a story and then tricking me by spitting out an ad. UGH. I find myself listening more and more to JV on 94.9 which is hilarious especially with the crew he has on the show like Nessa! Other times = A-OK! Good music, but super annoying that 94.9 and 99.7 seem to coincidentally (probably not) have the same song playing at the same time. read more

I first discovered this station while driving with a friend somewhere. I listen to the radio from time to time so often I am surprised at the songs that play from way back.I mean way back that takes me to my late teens/early twenties..hell I can't even remember.Imagine while driving a Prince song comes on..ofcourse I react with the woo-hoo because I loved Prince then and still enjoy the music now.You start dancing in the car.Prince ends and the next songs that follow are by Naughty By Nature,Madonna,Outkast and much more.Music is decent on some levels, I admit how many times can you play a song.Lucky enough I don't have the radio on that much. 4 stars just for playing some stuff that actually gets me movin. read more

Well I dig their LOVE TRAP... soo funny and sad at the same time. Music that they play in not bad. But I like Energy 92.7 better. I have been to couple of 99.7's parties and the music/crowd/energy was nice. I enjoyed it. I only get to listen to them in the morning on my way to work.
