[[HIGHLIGHT]]Looks good over the counter. Vibes are good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was my very first time purchasing 8-inches round cakes from the bakery inside 99 Ranch/corner of Eat Up food court. I am surprised that they do have affordable and fruitful cakes here. Inexpensive. You get huge portions filled with lots of fruits and cream, at least in the $38.99 Mango Mousse Cake that I had purchased. Delicious fluffy mousse fillings. It's been awhile since I ate one of these heavy cakes as I usually go to Paris Baguette & Tous Les Jours for the cakes hovering around $50 each. Most of the 8-inches round cakes are $38.99 each here and there's definitely more selections to choose from. I am thinking about coming back here for the Strawberry Mousse Cake and the Tiramisu or Chocolate Mousse Cake this year. Black Forest Cake looks good too. Good prices for the value. Smaller cake pieces are under $5 each which is still very good with wide selections. Cashier appears new to the job and she didn't know which box to use for the big cakes, so another employee helped her box up my cake for me. I spoke with them in Mandarin. I was given only one birthday candle, a good sized plastic cake knife/spatula, and one birthday accessory for the cake. Not too bad, but I still wished that they would give out more candles like Paris Baguette. The delicious fruit cakes are worth it if you like Chinese whipped cream and mousse. Yes, pretty heavy in weight. I would give them another try for convenience here. Happy cake.

Large food court area filled with many options. You have to come and explore! The 99 Ranch portion is pretty typical. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like this market and love the expanded food court concept.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is manageable most of the time. Please come and create your own adventure.

Salty duck eggs. Whenever I see these I come to a screeching halt. Yum.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This time I arrived in the middle of the day and the food court was hopping.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But I've already had lunch and was eager to get on with my shopping. Unfortunately, I had a long drive ahead of me, so all of the frozen items and fresh meats were off-limits. So I concentrated on the dry goods which would survived the hot drive ahead. This meant I could go nuts in the Ramen section. I did browse the store pretty good, and it does seem that prices have risen. Luckily, there were quite a few manager specials, and I stocked up on all my basics. I was faintly disappointed by the tea selection. Seems like they've shrunk that section. Some of my favorite brands had disappeared, and have been replaced by brands that I've never heard of. When you start buying loose tea 8 ounces at a time you don't really feel like trying a whole lot of new brands. The selection of Asian treats was phenomenal. And it covered all of Asia. Some of them were kinda new to me. The number of shrimp chips was just overwhelming. However, I was looking for the unfried shrimp chips. Because it's so much fun to watch them expand when frying. That's half the fun. I was amused by the exotic fruits. Fresh durian for heaven sakes. Well, I've had that stuff fresh in Asia and I don't think I want to ruin the memory with this imported stuff. Unless they're flying the fruit nonstop from Asia, and then dropping it straight into the produce section of the supermarket, it's not going to be as fresh. And then just to prove that I'm a real Asian, I dropped by the produce section and picked up a Napa cabbage. Even though I don't really need the veg and the fridge is overcrowded. It just wouldn't feel like a trip to 99 ranch unless you come home with a Napa.

This is the only location that has a nice food court with a variety of Asian stalls (Chinese noodle soups, malatang, Vietnamese sandwiches, Japanese curry, and Taiwanese fried chicken), a boba shop, a happy hour bar, a bakery, and a hot deli section that opens earlier than the restaurants. It's almost the same as shopping at their San Gabriel Valley location in SoCal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's clean, well-organized, and fully stocked.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restrooms are conveniently located in the food court, but you cannot bring your cart and unpurchased items past this section.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]That's why they hired security personnel near the entrance and exit to prevent shoplifting and loitering in between these areas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The produce section remained fresh, less fishy smell in the seafood section, and the meat section was neatly displayed. Their prices could be more expensive than other Asian supermarkets. For every $20 you spend, you will receive a colorful $2 off food coupon to use at the listed 99 Ranch locations. For instance, if you paid $60 on groceries, you earned $6 off (3 coupons) to use on hot deli and bakery items either in Fremont, Milpitas, or Newark until the expiration date. You might get lucky when non-Chinese people pass it to you for free because they have nothing to buy there. As for their hot deli and bakery sections, they're mediocre. I do not recommend roast duck and pork because it's dry like chewing wet cardboard. Dim sum is tolerable. The hot bar dishes can be too oily. I wouldn't purchase any cakes for over $35 since they're partially dry inside. The positive part is that all pastries and cakes aren't too sweet. Most of the staff speak Mandarin, Cantonese, and Spanish since this store hires Chinese and Mexicans. There were a few ladies at the customer service who weren't English or Cantonese speakers, so I had no choice but to learn a few Mandarin phrases by heart and translate a text on my phone in Simplified Chinese for one pickup. Overall, they are hardworking on maintaining the store system.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We visited the 99 Ranch Market in Fremont and liked the food court setup -- it's convenient and well organized.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store is clean and easy to browse.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only downside is the bakery section, which doesn't offer much variety in bread. Hope they can expand the selection. I also hope the larger 99 Ranch in Aliso Viejo can follow this setup, since that location is even bigger.

sale price but these aren't sweet

This market has literally everything from fresh fish and produce to asian snacks and special drinks to asian and american breakfast staples. The prices for most things are SOMETIMES really good compared to other grocers and even Costco sometimes. You get coupons to get stuff at their bakery too. Food court here has really good options, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]they have a well-kept bathroom which is crazy as someone who grew up having to go to the dirty hidden worker's bathroom in the back all the time lol.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Nice stainless steel toilet partition with string toilet paper holders and cardboard and packaging tape seat liner dispensers.

These guys continue to push their prices up. Shouldn't complain because that happens to be the American way, right? Well, how about if you provide better service or higher quality products if you're going to position yourself as premium grocery chain. I just can't get over how these guys try to cut corners every which way they can. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Who knows what goes on in the back of the store but just check out this photo of the men's room stall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All you can do is roll your eyes at a company that owns a chain of 66 stores in the US and has sales totaling over $1B annually.

Clean and organized compared to a few other Asian markets . It has a wide variety of merchandise: meat , seafood , fruits , vegetables, frozen meat and seafood , dessert , noodles , snacks , candies , tea . You name it , they have it . This week the live crab has good sale $8.99 one pound . One month ago was $17 per pounds. This is a must go to market at lease once a week !

Been coming out here for the past three years and they have a better selection of baked goods, hot deli and food court than the ones at San Jose and Milpitas. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After Bro and I finished our bubble teas we bought some bakery goods then hop over to the hot deli for a quick meal then we bought a few snacks by then it was getting crowded with shoppers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do have their weekly daily special bought a few items snacks Korean soju, kimichi, Japanese udon and ramen. Like every other business parking is a hit or miss even on the weekends it can be very a real pain.

This 99 Ranch Market is fairly new. It's different from the others as it's clean and new. LOL. Otherwise, it is unique store because they have a food court with brand name restaurants like Demiya, Chicken Meets Rice, Shihlin Taiwanese, etc. Parking is not an problem as it's located in a large plaza. Though, the closer parking spots might be hard to find.

The other location in Fremont is better. The food area sells cafeteria style as well as Roast pork. We got one mixed plate and another roast pork order. The mixed plate with fried rice wasn't bad but the pork was awful. The Roast pork was very salty and hard. We had to toss after just one bite. It was like chewing on rubber. It was suppose to be crispy but it was really like eating rocks. We probably will never come back. Newer location but the food is worse than the other locations. Parking lot in front.

Excellent food, good collection of Asian food, good service since you can eat seated. Ambience is very family oriented. The parking lot is always busy but it's never a problem. Many restaurants and shops around and busy through the night. Don't go too late for their food buffet because taste goes down, for example, shrimp and sardines become too salty. I have been here twice and I'm going again today.

I answered, "Oh, I am going to write a review." He looked puzzled, then replied, "We don't allow photos!" Oh, ok this person is on staff at the market. Alright. I am not deterred. I found some good prices on produce. Overall, 3.5 stars. Support your local business.

After years of construction, I was excited to finally check out Lee's Supermarket in San Jose, but…read morethe experience was pretty lackluster. Honestly, it didn't feel like a newly remodeled store. It felt more like they just put up a new sign outside. They might as well have had a banner that said "under new management." Lee's is known for their great sandwiches, so I expected more of a café-style setup where you could browse a variety of sandwiches and maybe sit down to eat. Instead, there's no seating area and the menu is just a large LCD screen listing sandwich names and prices with no photos. The store itself feels cramped, with most of the space dedicated to shelves rather than any place to relax or enjoy food. I was hoping for something closer to a Whole Foods style experience where you could grab a sandwich, a drink, and maybe meet friends. Instead, it feels like a typical Asian market without much innovation. The one cool touch was that every checkout lane had fresh baked baguettes ready to go. That and my sandwich was delicious but instead of eating it right than and there I had to drive home in traffic and eat it cold. I just love eating em' freshly made and the bread right out of the oven. For sandwiches, I'll probably stick to the regular Lee's Sandwich locations nearby.

My wife and I shop here weekly for our grocery needs. Parking is plentiful and the shopping carts…read moreare lined-up outside. Their Produce staff are helpful and friendly, as are the Meat Department staff. Their checkers are OK too. However, the wait and the lines at the check-out counter get long. We typically have to wait a while to get thru the check-out counter. There are a few Checkers who aren't familiar with the codes for produce, since we've had to wait some time for someone to assist. Since this Safeway is located in a residential area, it can get quite busy.

There are some friendly workers here, but usually all lanes are closed except for the one by the liquor area. And you're expected to bag your own groceries. I digress... back to the bakery. In short: - bakery service - 0 stars - customer service - 4 stars - cake - 4 stars The details... I came here to order a birthday cake and there's no one at the bakery. I rang the bell for service, and waited over 20 minutes. Finally I track down a customer service person to take my order. I came back to pick up my cake and there's no one at the bakery. I rang the bell for service but only waited 5 minutes this time before looking for customer service. A nice guy came to help, but he doesn't work in the bakery, so he didn't know how to box up my cake or ring it up. He calls a manager over to finally box up the cake and ring it up. The cake itself turned out really good. Light sponge with fresh strawberries. A bit on the sweet side. The design turned out even better than the picture (see my pics). The writing was accurate, so no complaints here. I find out that the bakery is short staffed. They leave at 1pm, and they are trying to hire someone for the afternoon shift. I would order from them again, but will come before 1pm.
