    Mango oolong with boba
    Nikkomae S.

I saw this place get busy from time to time now so I wanted to try it. Upon entering it is all self service. They have a kiosk where you can place your order from. They do have a lot of selections but this is not your regular boba spot. I ordered the Mango Oolong since it's one of their best sellers and got it with no sweetener but added boba to it and I must say it was actually pretty good, now do I think it's worth $8.75 probably not. I'm not sure if they are trying to justify this cost because of the fancy machines they are using but I definitely find that in the more expensive side. The location itself is really nice, very bright and again they show off the machine that they use and all the other products they sell so yeah it does look pretty nice.

So far I've been to Chicha San Chen in Vegas, Daly City and now Fremont. This location is way bigger compared to the other 2. I like the high ceilings and it's aesthetically decorated. You can order using the 2 kiosks or at the counter. It's faster at the counter because sometimes people take their time at the kiosk. It was very nice of them to offer a sample of their passion fruit oolong which my friend did end up getting. I ordered the milk tea with boba. Their boba has a nice chew and they give plenty. I ordered my tea at 1/2 sweet and I think I should have stuck with regular sweetness. The tea tasted light, I've had better. It took just 10 minutes to make 3 drinks after ordering which was pretty fast.

This was my second time trying this franchise, and I was hoping to finally understand the buzz. First, I have to say that both the Fremont and Cupertino locations are aesthetically pleasing. The interior is clean, modern, and inviting--the kind of place that makes you want to sit down, relax, catch up with friends, and just enjoy the moment. The ambiance is probably one of my favorite things about Chicha San Chen. Unfortunately, the drinks didn't leave the same impression. I ordered one of their popular drinks, the Dong Ding Oolong Milk Tea, expecting a rich tea-forward flavor. Instead, it tasted mostly like cream with very little tea coming through. I asked a staff member if it was possible to add more tea. To her credit, she was very accommodating and remade the drink for me, but even then it still tasted like a diluted milk tea with a lot of cream and only a splash of tea. She then offered to make me an entirely different drink if I still wasn't satisfied. I ended up trying the Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea, which I enjoyed much more. The honey and floral notes complemented the tea nicely, and I could actually taste the oolong. It was lighter, refreshing, and definitely the better drink of the two. One part of the interaction felt a little off-putting. After offering to remake my drink, the employee had another staff member bring out the Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea to me. Whether intentional or not, it gave me the impression that she no longer wanted to deal with my concerns. I appreciate that she tried to make things right, but as a customer, it didn't leave me feeling particularly welcomed. For a brand that's known for its tea and has won so many awards, I expected a stronger and more memorable tea experience. For a brand built on tea, I wanted the tea to be the star of the drink--and for me, it never quite got there. This place clearly has a loyal following, and I can appreciate the beautiful space, the attention to presentation, and the customer service I received. But after two visits, I still don't quite understand what sets it apart from other standout boba shops in the Bay Area. If you enjoy lighter, creamier milk teas, you may love it here. Personally, I prefer a stronger tea flavor. Overall, I'd call it decent, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to revisit.

Ambiance This location is way better than Cupertino hands down. Nice soft seats. Lux, spacious, nice decor, and cozy. Service Make sure to click through all the steps to check out at the kiosk. They served my friends drink when her order didn't go through at first. Food I had passion fruit and my friend had mango. If was superb. Would come again to try other flavors.

Came here on Sunday around 2pm. Wait was about 7min for a drink. Not bad Got a bubble milk tea, perfect sweetness and less ice. It was too bland for my taste. Maybe if I get no ice, it would be sweeter ? The boba was the best I have ever had though! Nice and chewy. I came here for the boba but hope the drink would be better next time as the price is not cheap for a small drink

Just tried and had such a great experience, workers work fast and are really nice. I ordered their most popular bubble milk tea and it definitely lived up to the hype. The tea itself was super fragrant and smooth, and the boba was perfectly sweet and chewy, honestly one of the best I've had in a while. The shop is brand new, so everything feels really clean, modern, and well designed. It's a really nice place to hang out or grab a drink with friends. Tip: They have an UNLIMITED BOGO special for birthdays with valid ID!!!! Highly recommend checking this spot out if you're a boba lover!

I love that they offer unlimited buy one, get one free (BOGO) on your birthday! Show a valid ID and be there in person on the actual day. Service is great. Friendly staff with lots of knowledge about their popular drinks. Honestly, their fruit teas are better than their milk teas. I personally think that their milk teas are too creamy, so the tea flavor gets overpowered. However, their fruit teas are wonderful and fragrant! If you're getting milk tea though, I'd recommend the Cassia Black Tea or Black Tea. Try the other teas like High Mountain Pouchong Tea and Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea in its just tea form. So yummy!

So delicious!! The space is super cute and the drinks are really delicious and definitely focus on the tea-y aspects which I enjoy. The wait was around 15-20 mins and the store was pretty packed. I really enjoyed the black milk tea but I will say that these drinks are definitely on the pricier side

Osmanthus oolong tea with lemon ($7.70 + tax/tip = $10) was sharp and refreshing, with fresh lemon juice that, for me, overpowered the delicate taste of the tea. Think I'll try it with honey instead next time. Order at the kiosk and watch the screen/receive a text when your order is ready. Interior is beautifully done and calming. Service is excellent.

Came here twice. I ordered the Pineapple Honey Tea and the Mango Osmanthus Oolong Tea. Both drinks were refreshing! This place stands out from other places in that they make the tea fresh-to-order. You can taste the tea. It's cute that they have strings attached to the sleeves so that we can carry it.

My sister and I visited in the middle of a work day, so there was no line! Still a little wait as the staff caught up with the queue, and I would recommend ordering online if you can to avoid a longer wait time. It was my first time at this newer location in Pacific Commons, and wow the interior was stunning. The backlit mountains on the walls and the stream of artsy moss, so pretty! It's a little funny they're located next to Ume Tea because it seemed Ume was trying to compete by putting a very large pink horse butt at their storefront LOL Mango Osmanthus Oolong Tea ($7.50): Ah, hits the spot. Fruity but still has a strong tea flavor, very smooth. My other go-to is the Dong Ding Oolong Milk Tea ($7.50). I wish I didn't have the habit of chugging good drinks sigh A lot of boba places to choose from in this plaza/area, but I know Chicha San Chen will thrive!!

This was my first time at the Fremont location. I've only been to the one in Cupertino and I was very impressed with how fast, clean and friendly. The service was. Granted, I know most of the race does at the Cupertino location, people here were friendly, but seemed to just talk to themselves. Lol it was also early in the morning so maybe they were just waking up. I didn't realize my teas were ready since I was picking up two cruffles text Store at the coffee shop, when I showed the gentleman behind the calendar in my receipt. He handed me my drinks. So I was happy he held onto them so no one else would accidentally take them. My boyfriend had never had this tea before and he loved it!! He's incredibly picky so the fact that he said he loved that tea made me feel happy that he found something he actually liked! Lol I can't wait to go and get more teas from this shop! Along with my afternoon snack from the coffee shop next-door. Check out my review at The Tamper Room, too. Hee

    creamy lemon tart
    Annie G.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 I almost always get the creamy lemon tart, I've tried some other drinks and while they're good the creamy lemon tart is always super reliable. You can change sweetness on most drinks but not the creamy lemon tart -- their concoction works out really well and honestly I don't think it needs any change except for offering a dairy-free version of the cream! i absolutely love that their drinks always come with handles, and overall cup design is great. They also have samples at the front which is cool to always try out. Service is pretty friendly and they will take your order too if the line is getting long at the kiosks. Interior is always really clean and there's a lot of tables, this location is smaller than the Cupertino one so there's less big tables but overall not bad, they also provide some boardgames here. Bathroom sink is soo fancy LOL

Long overdue review since I've seen my NorCal and visiting SoCal oomfs post about Brian Black Tea…read moreand thanking Brian for his service. This is the only singular franchise location in the United States (at least as I'm writing this and has been like this for awhile), which is insane to me, considering that it was quite hyped back then and remains a favorite to many. Hopefully one day, they'll be more locations, but it's literally been years. In that case, I'll have visiting SoCal friends with me try. Simple and casual appearance. Love the wood accent on the counters and tables, along with the green walls and descriptions of the tea. There's a bit of it that reminds of what the old XFT location looks like from the RH location, but only just a little bit. You can order ahead for pick up and they're quite efficient. The only times there was even a semblance of a fisted wait, at least when I've gone, was due to orders of like 10-30 drinks for catering or an office boba run. Solid tea that's steeped really well. If you adjust for much lower sugar, you can enjoy the quality much better. I feel like with the influx of the boba wars (at least in SoCal), many of the Taiwanese franchises (Guiji, Chayan, UG, etc.) just don't have enough of a strong flavor to compete with their Chinese competitors, but Brian Black Tea, I think would be a strong contender if they were drafted in the SoCal boba wars. I've enjoyed all of their milk teas, but my favorite has always been the Era Milk Tea with the slight coffee taste to it and the Retro Milk Tea with the subtle roasted flavor and hint of cocoa to it. I usually get 25% sweet and it's perfect. NorCal must when I visit.

Unfortunately, the drink fell short for me as it tasted watered down. I was a little surprised to see it listed as Iron Goddess Black tea, as Iron Goddess is typically oolong tea so I wonder if they mixed the two teas together. The tea flavor was extremely mild and it was a little hard to believe it was a milk tea. The boba was a nice chewy texture and was a little sweet. A large milk tea was $6.75 and after the addition of boba and tax, my total was a little under $8.50 which I found to be expensive for what I received. This shop isn't really suited for my taste.

I ordered a Lychee Green Tea & Popcorn Chicken via their machine. It was easy to order on there. Then the guy asked if I would like some tokens while I wait. He gave me four tokens to use while I was waiting, and they were complimentary. I used them on the claw machines, but I didn't win anything. It was still fun and very nice that he offered me the tokens. I got my drink within about 5 mins. Very fast! Then I waited a few more minutes, and I got my Popcorn Chicken. I forgot to grab the sweet Thai chili sauce that they had some there. It was pretty yummy. A bit dry, but still flavorful though. I would definitely return again at some point to try their Cotton Candy Milk Tea one day because that looked cool! :)

The good thing is they have various combinations possible, so there is a chance you can make something epic. Also have options for people/kids that are not yet introduced to tea/green tea/coffee. It's good boba though and they also have options of ice-cream with boba. The portion is huge and we found it better than boba. But again too sweet, and I didn't notice a fresh fruit to balance the sweetness. It's worth a stop for boba tea lovers though.
