Trader Joe's has all the best groceries you can grab ~ They have your usual rotation of groceries and it is exciting to see what new products they will release for us to try out. During my most recent visit, it was a bummer that they had no refrigerated juices available so I had to settle for the juice that was in the nonrefrigerated aisle. read more

Sunnyvale Costco of Trader Joe's. The workers are working VERY hard to keep this place replenished and they are great / friendly just like other Trader Joe's. It's CROWDED. Starting with the compact parking lot. People everywhere. Workers trying to get through everyone. People checking every meat package to pick the best one. People saying excuse me to get through. T-Mobile reception is dead here. Homeless people begging for money outside. There was this one family telling their kids to get in multiple lines. Loudly saying "Maybe, I will be first, maybe you will be first! Maybe he will be first!" like innocent family fun. Then once the little girl's line moved the fastest, the shameless whole family moved over there with their 3 carts. Never coming back to this location. read more

This is the only Trader Joe in this area . People from Newark , Union City , Hayward all drive to this location . This is the week they put out the mini canvas tote bags for Easter . They come in four pastel colors : green , blue , pink and lilac . Each customer is limited to one set of four. The line is crazy long , like 2-3 blocks long . Some people came as early as 5 am . The store opens at 8 am each morning. They have huge boxes of supply so everyone in line got the bag. I came at 8:01 am and went to the end of the line . But I got my bags within 20 minutes . Great Customer Service. I love the majority of items I try. Good quality for a good price. They have a wonderful selection of seasonal items. At this moment my family and I love the Maple Cold Foam, which is seasonal. They have a few delicious frozen Indian food options, chicken vindaloo, masala, butter chicken and garlic naan. An update this year. To be honest, I'll still come back but don't come here on weekend afternoons. We recently did our shopping on Saturday late afternoon and the shelves were barren. It was a bit frustrating to shop as a lot of items were just missing. I did notice they were about to restock but I'm not going to wait. Again maybe it's just that one day. It does get really packed here. There are a lot of workers here and they seem to be always running around. But they are quite helpful and willing to search for something that you're looking for. Overall, it's not my favorite TJ. But it'll do as it is the closest. I'm just going to have to try not to go too late and perhaps just deal with the crowd in the mornings. read more

I usually come to this Trader Joe's for my fruits and vegetables. On this particular day I was looking for plantains and one of the employees, Jeanette, was very sweet and helpful. She suggested I try the frozen plantains and now I keep two or three bags in my freezer at all times. They're a must. This store always has good quality food and great options. It does get very busy at this location, but the staff is always helpful and the store stays well stocked. I definitely recommend shopping here if you're in the area. read more

Most recently I went there today, Tuesday the 23rd to get a few last minute items before Christmas. The parking at this location is a tad chaotic. Be aware of that. Trader Joe's has all kinds of good stuff, a ton of it good for you, and the regular stuff that's not, but chances are it's still filled with less preservatives than the items the same you'd get at a grocery store. They've got fresh produce, fresh meats. Dairy items, including milk, cottage cheese, regular cheese, yogurt, & more. My favorite part of Trader Joe's is the frozen aisle, where there's all kinds of unique items you can get that you can't find in grocery stores, that they make of their own brand. Both savory & sweet, ranging from pizzas, to spinokapitas, to fried rice, to mushroom bites, to unique ice creams, with loads of sweets & snacks on the shelves above. Many of these reviews are about Trader Joe's overall as a brand, hence the high average. But if you have options and you're looking for a TJ's to actually enjoy shopping in, look elsewhere. I've been a loyal Trader Joe's customer, but gotta be real here, this is probably the most hectic/stressful and least pleasing Trader Joe's in the Bay Area. Other than near proximity, it would never be my first choice for grocery shopping. I come here on average on a weekly basis, and I'll say the clientele here are often abrasive. Enough times for it to become a pattern. Some of the older in age customers, and even the workers, are notably rude, cranky, terse, and passive aggressive. It seems as if various people are very triggered or careless in their interactions. Very noticeable for Trader Joe's because they typically have customers and workers that are pleasant and chatty. The ambiance and layout are not conducive to casual conversation, browsing, or a seamless checkout. We're all just trying to get about our day, and when all of these factors and dynamics starts interfering with your normal shopping experience then the vibe does become a bigger issue. read more

I love TJ's just as much as the next person. But this location often times doesn't have inventory of different products. I'm saying this relative to other locations in the Bay Area. Every time that I visit Castro Valley, or venture into the Peninsula to the Redwood City location, they always have things that we don't here. That's my only big gripe. That and people are reckless in the parking lot so be mindful and don't be on your phone when you're walking from your car to the front door of the store. Other than that, it's everything any TJ's is with its core products, and probably more popular- seasonal items! It's also probably my favorite grocery chain to purchase flowers from. I only go there for their seasonal and cultural food products, produce, lean meats, and sometimes treat myself to a bouquet. It's my motivation to eat healthier with meal prep options. I try to stay away from sweets as much as possible because it's too sugary for me. This store may be small, but I always see the crew unpacking products every hour and they're always available for questions in every aisle. They even conversate with you while bagging your groceries, which is rare in other grocery stores. Plus everything is neat and organized. Parking is spacious, yet you need to watch out for the gypsies or panhandlers and hectic parking during afternoons and evenings. I recommend going between Tuesday and Thursday mornings to get the limited products to beat the long lines. The seasonal products usually run out before lunchtime. read more

This is the only Trader Joe's in Fremont. It is located at the Fremont Hub shopping center in the middle of the city. Nice that Fremont has a TJ's, and of course, better prices than Whole Foods (aka "Whole Paycheck"). Being on a budget (and I'm not particular about it having to be organic, fancy, etc.), I only shop at Safeway and Trader Joe's (no to Whole Foods. LoL - no hate on them, their stuff is just overpriced). Anyhow, I love TJ's and wish it wasn't so crowded all the time. Like, I went yesterday (Friday at 11:20 am). Please note: this was strategic planning on my part. I timed my TJ's run to be before the lunch hour (so arrival before 12 pm) - and I also had to go to Target before Trader Joe's (Target is in the same plaza). I pulled into the parking lot at exactly 11:19, was excited to find a spot in the shade. But when I walked in, there were so many people! Especially in the fresh produce section. I digress. LOVE Trader Joe's seasonsal offerings (especially this time of year-- all their unique pumpkin products!). Love that I can purchase fresh produce and it's conveniently packed already for me (haha, yes - I am a lazy grocery shopper). Love that their have unique flavors of tea (yesterday, I discovered ginger tumeric & blood orange. But what happened to their mango?) I feel this location is much busier than the TJ's in Sunnyvale (my primary store) but both locations are staffed by wonderful people. I hop over for lunch bites and snacks or to buy whatever I need to fix dinner on my way home from the office. This Trader Joe's is a really good option. There's a lot of parking, and I appreciate that there are four disabled spots, as opposed to many other ones where there are just two or even only one. This Trader Joe's itself is one of the pretty small ones. This means that if you go during a busy time, it is frustrating and basically impossible to navigate the store, and once you're in line, you're blocking pretty much every person from getting down an aisle. This particular Trader Joe's also carries more Asian products then pretty much any other Trader Joe's, that I've been to in the bay. I asked an employee about it, and he said that this Trader Joe's actually carries every single Asian product, due to the high Asian population in Fremont. Things are out of stock a lot at this Trader Joe's. They don't carry all of the gluten-free items, and it's hard to find things multiple trips in a row, because they'll be out of stock in certain things for weeks or even months at a time which can be pretty annoying. One thing that I really don't like about this Trader Joe's is how much they shove Christianity down your throat. Other Trader Joe's I've been to will of course offer holiday items and stuff like that, but this Trader Joe's decks out the entire store on Christmas, on Easter, and similar. This location is always packed! This store is decent-sized, not the biggest TJ's but also not the smallest TJ's I've been to. They are pretty good at carrying the latest seasonal products on time and if you can't find something, the staff is usually helpful. I have to take a star off though for the following reason. During my last visit, a manager saw me wait by the eggs area because I was waiting for an associate that went to look for an item for me in the back. The manager asked me what I needed and when I told her, she immediately said, "Oh no. We don't have any of those anymore. Don't even bother looking if you're not here right when we're open." Then she walked off. I wasn't looking for her opinion since I was already being helped, but ok... So I proceeded to wait for the associate to come back and she gave me exactly what I was looking for from the back. Thank god I waited for that associate and still GOT WHAT I NEEDED after all that negativity from the manager... The lesson of the day is, some people here don't know what they're talking about so if at first you don't succeed, always try again! read more

Please retrain employees on efficiency. It shouldn't take almost 20 minutes to get from the back of the checkout line to the front (only 2 carts in front of me). At other Trader Joe's locations (Milpitas & San Jose), employees can finish a FULL cart's transaction within 3-5 minutes. 5+ minutes just to scan about 15 items and bag them? I mean... that is a LONG time..... I had to ask the (she was very nice btw) lady checking me out if I could bag my own groceries because she was sooooo slow with the two carts in front of me and I did not have time. This was a Thursday noon btw. I can understand it being hectic on weekends, which is why I already avoid them. I was watching the other 5 lines too, all the same. Everyone taking their sweet precious time reading the nutrition labels while they're at it. If you've seen Zootopia, all I can relate this shopping experience to is the scene with the sloth at the bank. I'm sorry but we all have places to be. What's typically a quick in and out 20 min grocery run, became 45ish minutes. Please scan reasonably faster. You guys get paid pretty good hourly wage for a reason. read more

I love trying their personal care products -- my favourite is their citrus body wash. I am always impressed by their new food items -- fun flavours to try, especially the snacks. Trader Joe's is my go-to grocery store in the area. Luckily enough, it's also a less than a mile walk from my home. I could spend HOURS browsing through every aisle....and also putting everything (that I didn't come there for) in my cart. Sometimes if I'm bored at home, I'll just mosey on over to see what fun new things they have! From my recent trips, I find that the best time to shop there is first thing in the morning and after the lunch rush but before the end of a work day. The main things I make sure to pick up are as follows: a bouquet of flowers (because they're so fresh and so reasonably priced), orange chicken, the beef birria (omg. this is a *must have*), the dill pickle salad (I was able to find it a couple of times. Crossing my fingers this isn't a seasonal item), sweet potato fries, and hot and spicy chicken wings. And of course, I'll find new things like: the pumpkin spice Danish Kringle (I've never had a Kringle before, but besbelieve I'll be picking one up every time I'm there), the passion fruit dried rounds (I cry every time I go to look for it and it's not there anymore), chocolate covered pretzels, and so much more! On top of all the good grocery shopping, the employees make the experience so much more enjoyable. I always walk out feeling happy that I spent my money here. lol Oh, Trader Joe's. I love you. Wowzers! Never thought I'd have a bad experience here or any Trader Joes. Came in on a Monday after work, and the young rude guy at the customer service counter was rude as @#$%. Politely let him know I ended having extra items that I ended up not using for a family gathering I had a month or 2 ago and wanted to do an exchange, which I've done hundreds of times at TJs around the bay area, especially when I use to live in SF and the TJs in the city, the city where there's a lot of questionable people. Anyways, he asked if I have a receipt and said that I didn't bother to bring it,, all the other times I tried to present a receipt to any TJs employee they've always said not to bother as long as I'm planning on shopping and they'll happily do a exchange/store credit. Well, this power trippin' employee said they don't take back items and encourage customers not to overbuy and actually take back items that are open due to not liking the product (if i open an item, i keep it or give it away if I didn't like it) .... you guys give samples to urge us to try and buy products we weren't planning to buy!!! No one has ever given me pushback for items I changed my mind or items I ended having extra after a party/gathering. And who wants to run out or chips/snacks, hence buying enough to not run into that problem when hosting. I so happened to have some extra items that weren't used and unopened and bro was def giving me pushback and in the end especially after my unhappy response, he said he'll do it this time. Sucker for customer service but despite it being crazy busy, it was a really good Trader Joe's run on a Sunday. Customer Service desk helped me find an item super quick; Sharon was very kind when bagging even picked up a new set of eggs for me when the cashier found a small crack on the eggs I picked up; and lastly, Joe was an awesome cashier. Trader Joes is probably my favorite grocery store. Low prices, small portions and the layout of each store is so similar that no matter what store you go to things are where you expect them to be. I was recently in a Ranch 99 the other day. It was fine - but the classical music they played and fishy smell throughout almost made me feel like I was living in the Twilight Zone. Seven Eleven gas stations in deep Oakland play that sort of music to make sure no holligans loiter - 99 should play that outside maybe not not inside. Got some booze for the holidays here and found some gingerbread cookie mix. I'm going to dump that onto close family and hope I'm around when they are baked. I always grab some of that 100% cranberry juice. Its intense... it will wake you up... and put some hair on your chest - men and woman alike. That juice I've even seen it make children cry - be warned - not for the faint of heart.... Speaking of booze - that cranberry goes well with some Vodka. Mabye put that on your shopping list too. It's a known thing for all Trader Joe's to have nice employees but the employee named faith should quit if you don't enjoy working there. An older lady in front of me at the checkout line "10 items or less" had a little over 10 items. An item fell on the floor, faith continued to make short passive aggressive comments towards the older lady. She even went further to tossing an item towards her, causing it to fall on the floor. I'm glad that we have Trader Joe's in Fremont. They usually sell good food, bread, and desserts. I remember their delicious cheesecakes that I usually have when I was younger. I think that they get smaller throughout the years, but it's still worth getting. We have too much stuff at home, but I only came here for the cheesecake. Trader Joe's is normally my go-to grocery but it is even more important now during the shelter in place due to COVID. Overall, I think they've done a great job making sure that everyone is practicing social distancing and keeping safe. Here are some of the new COVID related rules all in one place to hopefully help people out. I've also posted Trader Joe's signs related to COVID as well just in case you need it. Hours of Operations: 9:00am to 7:00pm Special Hours: 8:00am to 9:00am to seniors (60+), first responders, pregnant women, and people with disabilities 1.) Do not bring your own grocery bags. They will provide you with free bags 2.) Only a few people are allowed in at a time so there is a line to get in. They have marked every 6 feet with tape and people normally stand in the appropriate distance while waiting to get inside. The line may look long but I usually get in around 20-30 minutes. **Pro-Tip = Even though there are special hours for seniors, etc. Trader Joe's still allows you to "cut" the line during the normal hours. Make sure to tell a Trader Joe's employee and they will help you line up in the quicker line in front of the store so you can get in faster. They will also check if you are in the general line in case you didn't know. 3.) As of 04/25/2020, you are required to wear a mask in Fremont so do not forget to bring one Other Tips: Employees will also clean the cart for you before you go inside the store and sanitize your hands before you enter the store as well as when you leave. I found that they have a majority of their items in stock and never felt that I could not get the food I wanted.
