So I always go to the LA Crawfish in this 99 Market. There are a bunch of food stalls in this market that range from wings to authentic Asian dishes. The food at this LA Crawfish is always hot and cooked to order. I've only ever had their wings and fries but the sweet potato fries are delicious & the regular fries are always hot. Their Lemon Pepper wings are bomb and I love that they line their boxes with foil so the wings stay hot and crispy. Definitely a must try! read more

Every time I drive along I-10 and see this 99 Ranch Market, I always get a little excited. I've been a long devotee to the brand, which has been synonymous with being one of the most well known and largest Asian grocers in the country. And yet, there's only a handful that exist outside of California, with this pseudo-Katy location being one of them. It's not the prettiest or largest 99 Ranch I've seen, but it more than gets the job done. They opened just under a decade ago and have transformed this space into a clean, calm, and well stocked shopping experience. They have all the essentials of any quality Asian grocer with an abundance of produce, sauces, snacks, and even a food court. Like other locations, they're organized and it's easy to find everything that I want. I have found the customer service here to be great. They've been good in helping me find what I want and are always cordial about it. Like many of the Asian supermarkets, most of the staff is well versed in English, Chinese (Mandarin mainly), Vietnamese, and Spanish. If that's not Houston in a nutshell, I don't know what is. At the end of the day, I'm always happy to come shop here. The food court and bathrooms aren't much to write about, but the meat, produce, and seafood section is definitely a big thumbs up. This is my favorite Ranch 99 location in the Houston area. The grocery store is large with a great variety and the hot foods and bakery section always have a great selection. We visit Ranch 99 weekly for our Asian grocery shopping - we are always able to find our staples as well as new treats each visit. The store is always well stocked and clean and we never have issues finding what we need. They also do a great job with their sales, if something I need isn't on sale this week, chances are it will be in the next 2-3 weeks so I always try to take advantage of those especially for staple items. Their hot foods bar and bakery are always go-tos for us - the prices are reasonable and everything tastes good. Our favorites are the crispy pork, congee, rice rolls, baos in the refrigerated section of the hot foods, and all the baked goods :) Items are extremely well priced. The Westheimer location definitely is newer but the store is very small and we always leave there missing items and having to go back to the Katy location. The Blalock location is pretty decent, it's large, great prepared foods as well, but we still always prefer the Katy location. read more

The bakery has the best milk tea. The cakes are works of art, seriously every day it's a little different, but it's always the hand drawn, no artificial dye most beautiful cake. They also happen to be delicious. I asked for a cat for my cat loving kid and I got two cats made of frosting, not toys. They also have no sugar added cheesecake bites that my husband loves. The deli is also exceptional. If you get a meal place they don't just give you a scoop, they fill a to go container into it can't hold anymore. They have these garlic peanuts that aren't too salty and roasted to perfection. Everything is always a great price, especially if you go a little late like 7pm they will be about to close and give you food for half price. I seem to remember that this was an American styled grocery when opened. It seems that they kept the name. They completely changed the character of the place. It is Asian and it his unmatched for selection. The quality has been very good each time I've been. I would specifically recommend that you leave time for a meal in the food court. Awesome food. This review is bias, but good deeds need to be mentioned. 99 Ranch has jasmine rice 50lb bags for about $35 when on sale. The rice is good and definitely worth the price tag. This bag will last my bf and I the whole year or longer. So when I got my mommy a bag, she's now a fan. Today's visit mainly was for me to grab her 2 bags. I didn't want to wait for my bf to get home to go buy it, but I was really curious how I'm supposed to carry 50lbs and my thoughts came true (haha) when I could barely get the bag(s) out the narrow cart. Happy to find a closer 99 Ranch Market to home. We used to go to the one off of I-10 in Houston. This location is clean, organized and the staff is friendly. Better pricing for Asian groceries vs going to the local HEB or Krogers. Parking can be super crowded. I recommend going in the morning. I love going here for the fresh produce and items you typically cannot get at non Asian grocery stores (like bao buns). There is a huge assortment of Pocky Sticks too. So how and why can I give a 5* rating to this store when the bakery, fish n meat markets were winding down and all the specialty stores and eateries within were closed? Is it because everything is beyond thoughtfully organized? Fresh? Unique? And they offer an amazing and wide variety of fresh produce, meat, fish, bakery goods, tofu, noodles, spices etc.... why yes, but.... 5 stars (on this trek) is rightfully earned because I witnessed what many don't see and/or take for granted ... it's the unsung heroes who make the store impeccably spotless and shiny. I like Ranch Markets- all the interesting things you can find. To be honest this one is close to work and I tend to run in just to get food- usually bibimbap at the Korean place then over to the little Atami to get a boba tea. The food isn't as great as Korea Garden in Spring Branch but it is fast and squelches the craving when I have it and it is right up the street. Now that 99 Ranch opened here, I have one less reason to leave Katy. I remember hearing about rumors that they were going to open one here years ago but it wasn't until a few weeks ago when they put up their sign did it seem more real. 99 Ranch's Facebook page and website both stated that their Katy location's grand opening is to be on Saturday 8/13. However, when we drove by today Thursday 8/11 we noticed there were quite a few people in the parking lot and going in and out of the supermarket so we decided to stop by. It turned out that they had their soft opening since Wednesday 8/10. We spent about an hour here, loaded up our shopping cart and went home happy. The Katy 99 Ranch is IMHO the best in the Houston area. It's clean, bright and most important of all, spacious. The one thing that most, if not all, Asian supermarkets lack (at least in the Houston area) is space. It always feels like somebody's blocking you or you're in someone else's way. However, Katy 99 Ranch feels incredibly roomy. Katy 99 Ranch has everything the other two 99 Ranches have except for the hot pot balls. I hope they will offer those soon, especially as summer is ending and cooler season is just around the corner. Currently only 99's own cafeteria and bakery are open but there will be at least three additional restaurants inside. The Korean restaurant Yori Yori is one of them and the only one with a sign right now. Already with Kung Fu Tea nearby and Daiso coming soon, I look forward to the growing Asian businesses in the area. Oh BTW, they have some AMAZING sales right now. Looks like a newer location and lots of square footage inside. The bakery looked great (first thing you see inside) although didn't try anything there. Lots of selection of grocery items with some wins (high quality almond & rock sugar drink mix, lots of types of asian beef/pork jerky). Then there were some surprising omissions like couldn't find Japanese rice-paper-wrapped assorted fruit millet jellies (never seen an asian grocery without this classic candy) and fresh raspberries/blackberries. This market is almost identical to the 99 market off of Blalock. The people are friendly to come know what they want all the International food you could want and combinations for or at this place. The gourmet restaurant inside or four better than some of the restaurants that has been Annette for years. LA crawfish has an aroma that is too die for, a ramen bar that will fill up anybody and they gourmet buffet serving line is to die for. My brother lives in Katy, and I'm pretty envious of him for living close to this store. Here's my first and only impression- this is a clean, big store with loads of products. Especially with Asian products. My jaw dropped when I saw their fish counter. With so many options or fresh, and some of them in tanks, was pretty amazing to see. I've been wanting to get a stainless steel dumpling steamer, and I saw a variety of them here minimally priced. Next time I'm in Katy, I'm definitely buying one from here! The Bakery and Cafe in 99 ranch is an absolute terrible bakery. They sell two kinds of egg tarts, one type is Macanese and the other one is Cantonese. I was there to buy some Cantonese egg tarts. They stick their price tags underneath the wrapping box (very difficult to see) and placed Macanese egg tarts ($6.00) in Cantonese egg tarts area ($3.00) on purpose. When I realized this issue, I asked the cashier why don't they just make the tag more visible and place the correct egg tarts in the right place? The cashier's attitude was so bad and yelled at me with no apologies. read more
