The worst employee Award goes to RONG LI. This employee was so incompetent And extremely rude. She missed charge my item and expect me to get to the back of the line wasting my time and was SOoooooo rude about it. Store management should get someone with better logic and mental competence to work with customers.

If you are looking for live seafood, bbq pork or riser pork or duck, soya chicken, ranch 99 will be a great place fir all of that! Got to pick the live lobster or live fish, have it clean, cut or fried. Service is efficient and quick. Ambiance is bright and well organized. I usually love to pick up meat balls, meat and soup base to prepare hot pot at home. You also reward coupon base on your spend. You can use the coupon for their bbq pork, roast duck, chicken or their house baked goodies, cooked item or dim sum items.

Started by a Taiwanese immigrant in 1984, it is now the largest Asian supermarket franchise in the US with 53 stores. I believe the "99" is supposed to connote low-prices like the 99-cent variety stores. They are still solid with it comes to Asian groceries with better quality produce, meat, fish, and canned goods. The thing you can trust more is they'll be a little better about sweeping their inventory for expired goods unlike other places. It's a mini-zoo trip for your kids as well as they are almost guaranteed to love the live fish and crab tanks. I'm always finding interesting packaged noodles and snacks I've never seen before. They give you "cash-back" monopoly money you can only spend at the store that is proportionate on your purchase price. Most people use it in the hot food section on the left. We used our $18 bucks back that day to get a half-roast duck and it was much better than some other local roast duck places. Bad thing is there is almost always a long line at the hot food section and it always seems like it's understaffed with just one person trying to deal with a huge line. The huge line causes irritated and rude customers and makes the lone staff become rude and apathetic. Last time we were there we almost left after watching some truly terrible and entitled people in line, didn't want my kids seeing this kind of behavior.

99 Ranch Market in Newark is similar to most other 99 Ranch Markets in the San Francisco Bay Area. Except for the few of the stores open recently. Those look and feel very nice! This 99 Ranch Market is clean and pretty organized. It starts showing its ages. But not as old as those in the Los Angeles area's stores. This is what I found out on 99 Ranch. The older one looks very outdated and old. The new one looks lovely, filled with all the modern technology and decoration. They have hardly updated or remodeled the old stores. The price in this Newark store is on the higher side. I don't find many bargains or more profound discount items in this store. The parking lot is safe and pretty big. I have no problem getting a parking space very close to the entrance.

I love this place, as always, I order all cakes, for any occasion from here. The baker went, "oh, you? Lol?" They are AMAZING!

Gargantuan Jackfruit- banana is there for reference. Lol

Lol, no 99 Ranch at any location exceeds a 3 star rating. I get it, grocery shopping is a chore/errand, it doesn't have entertainment value (except for a few, I know who you are). So my ratings are primarily based on: can I get what I went in for; and can I do it with ease/comfort? That is where I give this location an extra star and better props than a 99 Ranch even closer to where I live. So I only come here in the late afternoons, like 2-4pm. I also never come on weekends, cuz I ain't no fool. If you know how these Asian grocery stores flow, you'll know whatta I mean. *wink wink nudge nudge* So in those hours of choice, this place is nice and comfy. No long lines (usually), no one blocking the aisles, no fender benders in the parking lot. This location is much bigger thus more room than the one closer to my place. So I take that extra drive. Everything is cleaner and more organized. I even see more new things here. I usually come for shellfish like shrimp, live crabs/lobster. Sometimes the occasional pork. I never get beef here cuz it is super limited also very pricey for the quality. Produce is another draw as I love produce that are staples in Asian cuisines. And since they are staples, you often can't beat the price, because this place will buy more of it, than say an American grocery store. And of course the kitchen staples for Asian cooking which always end up in my bag such as tea, red chili sambals, fish sauce to any noodle from any geographic area. Quite the hook up. So extra star for being better than the other 99 Ranch closer to me. Which really isn't a hard feat, but I'll commend it nonetheless.

Variety of products at reasonable prices. Taiwanese ramen, lychees, and cherries.

Clean, organized, large market in an outdoor mall. They had a small deli with bbq meats and meals to go and also a variety of products from different countries in Asian. Great deals on fruits and vegetables, especially their lychees, cherries, pears, and greens. There is ample parking and restrooms in the back. They don't accept the club card from Southern California. There is also a well worn lotto machine by the entrance.

BAKED BBQ pork burn with MSG.

MSG MSG MSG nothing but MSG. I missed the old chef before the Corona shutdown. Message to the new cook: you don't need to ADD & bring back the MSG from the 70's. Oyster sauce already have MSG in it as an ingredient. If you don't have confidence, just mix it with a little bit of chicken powder; but that is unconventional. MSG has been history since the 90's. Gee !!!! ** this new cook is able to make the crust thin. That means he/she has GOOD SKILL; but definitely NOT on the wrong track (MSG).

    It's dead crab !

Today I went to buy crabs and found one dead crab in a tank of live crabs! It's really annoying to buy a dead crab with the money of a live crab!

The shopping experience collectively is rather odd. The entire store is very dimly lit and it's a strange experience. At first, it feels like an upscale food court, filled with upscale large kiosk throughout the store. They have an amazing Sushi counter, and amazing meat counter. Almost anything you could possibly think of can be found, or freshly cut to order. Just as you're walking around, there's small areas where you might find fresh noodles, or some definite, unique food finds like fresh tteokbokki. Yes I needed to buy this! They have an entire beauty section that's filled with the variety of products, many of them overpriced, but also hard to find in the average marketplace. The fresh fruit area is small, but abundant. This is definitely worth a visit, if nothing more than the experience. You will find some amazing and unique items that are usually only found abroad.

The lobster rolls were packed with generous chunks of lobster and served on a perfectly toasted roll. The lobster tasted fresh, sweet, and buttery, letting the quality of the seafood shine without too much fuss. The oysters were equally fresh, briny, and a great way to start the meal. Service was friendly and efficient, and the staff kept things moving smoothly even during busy hours. The vibe is casual and laid-back, with more of a seafood market feel than a traditional restaurant. It adds to the charm and makes the experience feel authentic and focused on the food. Overall, a great spot when you're craving fresh seafood. Between the lobster rolls and oysters, it's easy to see why this place has such a loyal following. One of the biggest draws is their whole Maine lobster platter, which is surprisingly affordable at around $20. More importantly, the lobsters are freshly steamed and incredibly fresh. They even have a live lobster market inside the restaurant, and if you prefer to cook at home, you can purchase fresh raw lobsters from the market for an even better value. I'm also a big fan of their fresh-shucked oysters. I paid around $4-$5 per oyster during my visit, which was well worth it for the quality. However, if you come during happy hour, they're only $1 each, making it one of the best oyster deals you'll find in the Bay Area. The crab chowder was flavorful and satisfying, while the lobster mac and cheese was loaded with generous chunks of lobster meat. Even if lobster isn't your thing, the menu offers plenty of other seafood options to choose from. There is ample seating, but parking can be challenging. The restaurant is located in a business district where many spaces are reserved, so arriving early is highly recommended. During peak hours, it's common to see a line wrapped around the block just to place an order. The service was excellent as well. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. One thing to keep in mind: this is a fresh steamed seafood spot, not a Southern-style seafood boil. Don't expect heavy seasoning or bold spice blends. Their approach is all about preserving the natural flavor and integrity of the seafood. When the seafood is this fresh, it really doesn't need much else.

It's an older building that used to be another grocery store back in the day, so it has those older vibes. The parking lot is kinda grimey but once inside it fulfills all my Filipino grocery needs. There are a lot of satellite businesses (all Filipino geared, cuz Union City) that can complete a one stop shop. There's a Goldilocks, a shipping courier, a bakery (San Honore) and a few restaurant stalls for take-away. I like the produce here, very clean and plentiful. Slightly better prices than both 99 Ranch and Seafood City. Easily 50% of my baskets here are produce. Their dry/pantry selections are also above average from sauces in bottles/packets to noodles to snacks. Their meat section is okay, almost everything is meant to get cooked long and slow family style. If I want a steak to cook in minutes I'll go to an American grocery store. Their seafood section is also a big draw for me, lots of things from tropical waters. But this seafood area can be pretty hardcore at times as lots of things are out in the open just sitting on ice so things can be exposed right in front of you. Most Americans are used to things being behind glass or wrapped up in styrofoam and plastic. Not here you'll see whole fishes with heads and tails along with cut up specimens. I think they are trying to bring those 'wet market' sensibilities from the old world here but with stricter/monitored temperature controls. This is my neighborhood Filipino grocery go-to. And I'm proud of it.
