Osaka Marketplace, Fremont…read more Service is always great and they have a great selection of pre-made meals! They have a small food court located on the side of the supermarket, very convenient to sit down and eat. I usually come here for their fresh rolls, Japanese bento plates and onigiris. Although still fresh, their deals for their 20% off are always a steal. I thought it was a weekday deal but found out it's daily and around 5pm. I ended up getting their Mr. Crazy Roll which consist of sashimi salmon and uni over California rolls. It was delicious! I always love coming here for their beauty products and anything cute like Hello Kitty or random lunch bags. A friend had asked me if they accepted EBT and currently no, they don't accept EBT as payment. Would return and highly recommend this place!

And even quicker when it's around their discounted sticker pricing time (4:30-5:30pm). I haven't gone here in a long time, but came to pick up some specialty goods I couldn't find closer to home. My boyfriend always likes the trays of sashimi they have and likes to get those to make lunch or dinner with! Store is pretty spacious and has a great selection of fish, meats, baked foods, vegetables, and fruits (even from Japan)! I'm more interested in the Japanese snack aisle, heh. It is pricey though, so don't expect to get too many snacks unless you're bankrolled. I came for a huge bag of takowaso (my fav)! and some freshly minced but frozen wasabi.

However, in the past couple of years or so, the customer service has been pretty bad. The guy at the counter has been very unhelpful and it has always appeared that he does not work there of his own free will. In the end, I go tired of the attitude/customer service and avoided the store since the past 6 months. I made a mistake last week and went back. I ordered a goat leg, which the butcher showed me (it was wrapped up). He weighed it and asked me if it was OK. I agreed and he started to work on my order. The cutting area is behind the counter and it is not possible to see what happens in that area. After the item had been bagged, he came out and handed me the shopping bag, for which I paid at the checkout counter. Imagine my surprise when I opened the package after reaching home. Instead of 100% leg meat, there was a large amount of ribs, which is far cheaper than goat leg, that had been mixed in. This has created two issues; First, I did not get what I am very specific and picky about. Second, it shows dishonesty, which is unacceptable. This business has lost my business as I have no plans to return.

It's an older building that used to be another grocery store back in the day, so it has those older vibes. The parking lot is kinda grimey but once inside it fulfills all my Filipino grocery needs. There are a lot of satellite businesses (all Filipino geared, cuz Union City) that can complete a one stop shop. There's a Goldilocks, a shipping courier, a bakery (San Honore) and a few restaurant stalls for take-away. I like the produce here, very clean and plentiful. Slightly better prices than both 99 Ranch and Seafood City. Easily 50% of my baskets here are produce. Their dry/pantry selections are also above average from sauces in bottles/packets to noodles to snacks. Their meat section is okay, almost everything is meant to get cooked long and slow family style. If I want a steak to cook in minutes I'll go to an American grocery store. Their seafood section is also a big draw for me, lots of things from tropical waters. But this seafood area can be pretty hardcore at times as lots of things are out in the open just sitting on ice so things can be exposed right in front of you. Most Americans are used to things being behind glass or wrapped up in styrofoam and plastic. Not here you'll see whole fishes with heads and tails along with cut up specimens. I think they are trying to bring those 'wet market' sensibilities from the old world here but with stricter/monitored temperature controls. This is my neighborhood Filipino grocery go-to. And I'm proud of it.

There is a nice seafood display similar to open fish markets on the wharf selling crab and assorted fish. The service is excellent. Our server was attentive and helpful. The restaurant manager stopped by to see how everything was. Build your own (petit filet and 5 oz lobster) - 4/5 You have a selection of choices of what to select on the "Build your own" selection. The base price starts off at $29.95, then you select your food options. There's an uncharged on the most popular selections like lobster and steaks. My lobster was cooked to perfection. Very tender and sweet. The filet was pretty small for the up-charge, and was slight over cooked from the medium rare I ordered. But was still tender and good. The grilled asparagus was a $4 up-charge and you only get 3 spears of asparagus. With the up-charged, my dish, the price was over $46. Lobster Roll - 5/5 The Lobster Roll was very delicious. You get some Lobster tail, but Lobster claw meat is more prominent (see pic). Still the spices along with the clarified butter made this roll very tasty and delicious. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Market Broiler. It's a little pricy for the average consumer for consistent visits, but for special occasions birthdays, Mother's Day, the Market Broiler is a great place to dine.

The prices are really good and they have some cool candies, treats and produce options here. The service can either be really good or really bad, there is no in between. I genuinely liked shopping here, which is what makes this situation so disappointing. During a recent visit, I had an extremely disturbing interaction with security where I was pepper sprayed multiple times, cornered in a bathroom stall, accused of stealing (when I didn't), and even had a KNIFE pointed at me when I was just trying to leave which has ultimately completely changed how I view this place. What should have been a normal shopping trip escalated into something that left me feeling unsafe and honestly shocked by how things were handled. I never expected to walk into a grocery store and leave feeling the way I did. I'm not writing this because of one bad day -- I'm writing it because trust matters. When you've been a regular somewhere and something serious happens, the response and accountability matter just as much as the incident itself. Unfortunately, this experience changed my perception of the store entirely. The company does not want to fire him so be aware when you go that he'll be waiting for you, and nothing will determine when he attacks!
