Went back to the time warp that is Jalgalchi. My friend and I spent lots of time at the new beauty collection. The purity rep was super patient - going over the different products with us and even gifting us with a little gift set and out with purchase. Michelle helped us with figuring out concealer color and breaking the tie in lip color. We ended up getting two drawings because of our purchase. On to the rest of the store. We got lunch boxes and they were meh. I like the banchan and the quantity of food, but the protein dishes were lacking in freshness - the eel was better than the kalbi, which was just lackluster at best. Will go for the sushi next time. This review is solely for the fresh deli food. I've had the kimbap here a couple times. While very reasonably priced $6-7, they seem to be just okay. The ones at Kukje Supermarket taste more flavorful. This one lacks the same sesame oil aroma on the seaweed that I expect from kimbap. It also seems like they don't roll their kimbap by hand here. The rice is also a bit bland. Next, I tried the beef bibimbap. This one comes with half a container of rice underneath. The amount of meat is very little in proportion to the rice. The best part of this dish was the variety of veggies especially the bracken. There is also a packet of sesame oil buried inside, so watch out for that. The biggest problem with this dish was the rice. I'm not sure if I picked the wrong batch, but the rice tasted like it was starting to spoil, like it's been sitting outside all day. It would've been easily overlooked if you mixed all the gochujang sauce together with it. Maybe, the bibimbap should be stored in the heated or refrigerated display case instead of out in the open. I circled back to the fresh kimbap section after my meal. I saw a rat scurry across the floor and go under the display case. Another customer and I exchanged looks of belief. I was super excited to check out jagalchi. There have been tons of info out on socials about their opening, and my expectations were pretty high. The shopping experience collectively is rather odd. The entire store is very dimly lit and it's a strange experience. At first, it feels like an upscale food court, filled with upscale large kiosk throughout the store. They have an amazing Sushi counter, and amazing meat counter. Almost anything you could possibly think of can be found, or freshly cut to order. Just as you're walking around, there's small areas where you might find fresh noodles, or some definite, unique food finds like fresh tteokbokki. Yes I needed to buy this! They have an entire beauty section that's filled with the variety of products, many of them overpriced, but also hard to find in the average marketplace. The fresh fruit area is small, but abundant. Upon first impression, there's a noticeably bigger selection of cooked items, ready-to-eat meals, bakery goods, and café-style drinks all in one place. What makes it especially convenient is how much it combines under one roof, which is a full grocery store, seafood and meat selection, prepared foods, bakery, and coffee/matcha counter. Fun upscale korean grocery store with a restaurant inside, bakery, skincare section, and hot food area. The selection of items is huge here and there's definitely something for everyone! I always find myself wishing I had more stomach space whenever I come here. The hot food is reasonably priced, though some items can be more pricey, but others are not bad (kimbap for only $6). The food is kept warm which is nice, compared to marketplaces where the food is kept refrigerated and you have to microwave it yourself. It's super fun walking through the grocery store as they have so many fun items you don't see normally. Produce selection is decent. Lots of imported fruits. My fave find has been the Knotted frozen donuts! The aisles are pretty big so even when it's busy it doesn't get too crowded. Have yet to try the restaurant inside (Pogu) but it looks very nice. I wasn't to impressed here. Most of the items seem average and looks like items that you can get at 85°bakery. It's located inside the Korean store so you can stop by after shopping. There's also tables for sitting down to enjoy the food if you like. I ordered their drink special since it was $3. I don't remember what it's called. I also ordered some buns and cookies, but wasn't too impressed by them. Costumer service sucks. The worker who made my drink let someone else take my drink. They ordered after me as well and when I let the other costumer know she had my drink, she did not care. The worker didn't even check their receipt to see if it was the correct drink and did not care to help. LUCKILY, we both got the same drink so I only had to wait a bit longer for "my" drink. I came here on 6/21 to check out the new beauty section. No staff informed me of the promotion they were having until after I paid and left. Apparently they had a raffle ticket for purchases $50 or more. I had just spent $47 and was not informed of this otherwise I would have picked up another face mask. I only found out after I got home and watched someone's tiktok talk about it. One of the girls that I asked for assistance to find a product was also so rude. She gave me a "don't ask me type of look" when I asked her where the Medicube section was. She just silently stormed off and walked somewhere so I thought she didn't want to help me. Then she stood in front of the aisle and said ITS RIGHT HERE! so loudly across the store. I felt so uncomfortable. I managed to get her name from another employee after i asked who is she. Her name is Michelle. I only gave 2 stars because I like the products and i like the concept of the skin machine. But service wise was just awful. I hope they fix this soon and retrain some employees. Some were overly nice and helpful, some were very rude and not welcoming. I don't think I'll be coming back. This was my second time visiting Jagalchi and I have to say that there was huge improvement between the visits, specifically on food quality. Last time I visited, the food did not taste very fresh, the sushi & the hot food. This time, the rice was not undercooked, the fish were firm and not water logged, and everything that was supposed to be served hot was! The staff was also very friendly & attentive. They were very proactive if they happened to hear you looking for something and would help to direct us. The aisles were wide so it allowed for a relaxed environment even though the store was extremely full and busy. Also, the prepared foods were a great value. Someone described Jagalchi to me as the Erewhon of Korean grocery stores. It feels high-end, it's hip, and overall a pleasant place to get your shopping done for the week. This was my first visit and the parking area was nearly full when we arrived. Prepare to drive defensively. The store was quite busy but service was just as quick. When I ordered food from their dining area, there were boxed meals ready to go! I never had to wait more than five minutes for anything. Browsing through the aisles, I always had plenty of space. The aisles were wide. The sections are organized intuitively and the fresh food section was aesthetically pleasing ( don't really know if anyone will actually buy the fish head on display). Prices seemed to be on the higher end for fruits but they were nicely wrapped so there's that. There were a couple of pop-up stores for beauty, which added a nice touch to the overall vibes of the place. There are restaurants inside the grocery store, as well as a bakery and tables to sit and enjoy your food. The market is clean, organize and there's a lot of cool food products, Korean soju, a restaurant in the center ( which I would love to try), a gluten free bakery, cosmetic area, pre-packaged food and to-go food area, oyster bar and a section where you can buy high end sushi, sashimi and uni. I knew that and just the other day, I had Korean food, and a couple days later, here I am on Korean food cravings, so I ended up here, at Jagalchi, one of the largest Korean food emporiums in the Bay Area. It's my first time since it opened a little under a year ago in Daly City and my first impression is how huge it is, how nice it is, sort of like how Nordstrom meets Home Depot, except that it's all about food. It's an all-Asian extravaganza heavily tilted towards Korean, but it's also got a touch of Japanese, with Oriental products and wide selections in all kinds of diverse sections. The parking area was nearly full when I arrived, and there were numerous stop signs along the way. Upon arrival, the store was quite busy, but things moved swiftly at the meat section. I love that more and more large Asian markets are opening in the Bay Area. Jalgachi surprisingly has great deals on meat. I picked up Wagyu and also grabbed marinated short ribs on sale. They usually have good prices on unagi as well. (see pictures for price) I didn't really interact with the staff, so I can't comment much on service, but the cashier was efficient and quick. The store itself is big, clean, and has multiple entrances, including one connected to the mall. They also have a ready-made food area where you can get steamed buns, rice cakes, kimbap, and more. On top of that, there's a Korean restaurant right in the center of the supermarket. Despite a constant pummeling of YouTube videos from young trend-centric vloggers, It's taken me a while to get here because I'm not a fan of shopping mall crowds. I came the afternoon before New Year's Eve, and to my utter surprise, it was not quite as densely populated as the videos led me to believe. The first thing I noticed was how spacious it was. Formerly a JC Penney, there was no indication of its discount retail legacy. Rather this glossy store evokes Whole Foods and higher-end markets of that ilk. Everything was overwhelmingly organized and didactically presented that it was hard not to spend time just browsing. There were walls of shelves devoted to fish sauces, chips, and ramyun. The variety was mind-boggling. The seafood and meat selections were thorough, and the sushi collection was exhaustive enough to make Don Quijote look paltry by comparison. No surprise the prepared foods were in need of replenishment. People were waiting for the next bibimbop bowl with heightened anticipation. I probably should've paid more attention to the beauty product section because I always need help. No bargains but this doesn't pretend to be a discount supermarket either. Parking wasn't so bad, though I hate the labyrinth patterns of the roads here. Now that the frenzy had died down, we finally came to find out what all the buzz is about. It is the Disneyland of supermarkets - clean, neat, organized, and friendly. LOCATION: They are located at Serramonte center. We came on a Saturday a few minutes before opening, and there's plenty of parking. PRODUCE: I've never seen such a neat and organized produce section. Most of the fruits and vegetables are wrapped and packaged. Very convenient, but I'm the type that likes to select each green bean individually (yep, I'm that annoying person at the grocery store :). They have a large variety of Asian and American produce. I picked out a few Asian fruits and veggies to try out. They were very fresh. GROCERIES: They have a huge selection of noodles, teas, snacks, spices, etc. There is also a "From Korea" section, which had very similar products, so I'm a little confused about that. PACKAGED MEALS: I really enjoyed walking by their deli section and watching the ladies hand wrap the mandus, and the cook make kimchi fried rice. The meals are then packed and put out on warming shelves. You can purchase items for home or eat them at a small dining area in their bakery. We got pork dupbap, meat mandu, and kimchi fried rice. I recommend all of these - they were so good I wish I bought more to bring home. STREET FOOD: There's a street food area where you can get freshly made snacks to go. Most of the items looked fried. SEAFOOD & OYSTER BAR: They have sushi grade seafood here and do they look fresh. There's also freshly made sushi packages to go. The Oyster Bar looked inviting, but not my thing. MEATS: Lots of fresh meats and shabu-shabu meats. BAKERY: There's a bakery inside the market place. You get a tray and select items from their counters. There's lots of sulpang (steamed cupcakes), breads, cakes, and drinks. There's a dining area with seats and sofas. It's a really nice area that's bright and relaxing. POGU: There's a fancy restaurant inside the market place, but we didn't try it. I'm a little curious about it, but the reviews (I trust my Yelpers) didn't persuade me enough. Love this store. It's clean, it's huge, and I love the different variety of things to eat. I love the tepanyaki type rare meat selection to take home and their endless sushi/sashimi selection is the bomb. They look fresh and reasonably priced. Their cooked korean bowls dishes are delicious. We ended up buying a couple of them. Its convenient when you're on the go. In the middle of this huge store, they offer area to sit and dine and an area where they have korean skin care products for purchase. If you're into keeping your skin healthy and looking young, This is a good place to check out. Since we live about 45 minutes away, we made sure our trip was worth the drive. Great Korean grocery store with plenty hot food options! The store is very spacious and clean with lots of authentic Korean hot foods you can pick up and try. They also have Korean skincare and makeup which is a plus. The sushi assortments are very high quality and definitely worth the money. I found myself transported to a grocery store experience I had in South Korea, except that this is a little bit more upscale. It's a beautiful grocery store with a restaurant called pogu in the center. The sushi counter is definitely 10 out of 10. The fish is so fresh and the pieces of sushi are cut really well unlike most grocery changes these days, where the quality of the fish and how they've been cut is just so untidy. I love the variety of fish that was available. The meat department was definitely top of the line I would be going back to try that out. The street food counters were so clean and tidy. I got to try many different foods that we had when I went to South Korea and it was pretty good. The rice cakes were so fresh. I wish they had more meat options for the dumplings that didn't have pork. They had a ton of grocery items including kimchi, tea, and all the different Korean sauces and many Korean staples that look really good. I was really impressed by the seaweed section. It was gigantic with many different varieties. And of course, basquia bakery that is the staple in most Korean grocery stores was better than usual. I'm always happy with the gluten-free options that they have for baked goods. At this particular bakery, they had a lot more variety. Oh my gosh the sweet potatoes layered cake was out this world good. They carry a variety of Korean skincare line ranging from top-of-the-line to something a little bit more affordable. After visiting my aunt in SF, I took my daughter here to see if we could pick up some imported snacks and food for lunch. With the amount of space they have, I thought the food selection was quite limited. I, initially wanted to buy red leaf lettuce to do Korean bbq at home but they didn't have any. I was also not able to find any type of lettuce. Then when it came to imported snacks, I was hoping to find a vast variety of flavored Lay's. Unfortunately, there were only a few flavors here. Even the kimchi selection was subpar compared to their competitors. I also don't understand why there are 2 separate kimchi refrigerators located at different parts of the store. It seems like the store focused more on their own prepared banchans, sushi, bentos, Korean food, etc. As for organization, part of their products were stacked nicely on shelves and the other part reminded me of Costco where boxes and boxes of the same product were layered on top of each other. For a store that consists of 75,000 sq ft, they're not utilizing the space efficiently. In order to view their products, you need to walk around in a circle while the middle consists of a restaurant. I ordered Pane Ttetokbokki Rose and it was brought to me not toasted. I started eating it, but I realized that something was wrong. I looked at the photo of the dish, and realized that I was served just bread, not toasted. I took this dish back, they took it and made a toast. But while they were making it toasted, all the sauce had already been absorbed into the soft bread. They didn't change my dish, they made my dish, which I've already started eating, toasted. This review is for the restaurant that sits inside and the grocery story itself. Food itself was great with plenty of options. Ready made meals are displayed great and it was easy to get around. The people behind the food making areas are friendly and welcoming. It was easy to get an explanation for certain dishes along with recommendations based on our preferences. We were so happy with the putter sections that we wanted to try the restaurant on the inside. That's where it started to go downhill. We got the Christmas special that came with a bottle of sparkling wine. The table display is beautiful. The general set up of tables and chairs is very nice for pictures. The water was nice. The buckwheat noodles were our favorite. The veggies are incredibly fresh. -1 star, the servers are multitasking so much that it takes away from the ambiance. We came on a normal weekday, not even a weekend and the servers were running. Our server couldn't open our wine and casually mentioned she was doing this all day which explains how red and raw her fingers were. We felt uncomfortable by how uncomfortable she was. She asked for help from another server and they denied her. She had to ask 2 other servers until one that was cleaning a table helped her. Our wine was no longer chilled and lukewarm while we witnessed our server panic with barely anyone to help her while smiled anxiously -1 star for how out of place the food was served. Our plates were slammed onto the table each time. Steak was served with NO knives until we asked and then got butter knives instead. -1 star for untimed food served, mainly talking about the sides. They're expensive, but I really like their pre packaged foods! I like the variety of stuff they have here and it's a nice place to bring people if they're visit. Their sushi is high quality, but the rice can be pretty hard which is sad. Sometimes they also have good deals on items, but you just have to be on the look out for them! read more

I was very skeptical about the hype and was still skeptical until I got home and actually ate the food. Now I am sold that this is one of the best/ high-end Korean market in the Bay. I loved that most of the products are from Korea, hence, the higher price tag on things. Orange juice from Jeju, yes please! Some of the hot deli items looks kind of mid but I was really happy with the sashimi/sushi section. I picked up some otoro nigiri (only $15 for 5 pieces), a tray of uni ($25), hamchi + unagi nigiri, California rolls, salmon and octopus. Everything was super fresh and quality was 9.5/10 for me! I also bought some wagyu, bulgogi, and pork jowl, everything was tender and tasty.   I keep hearing people complain that the prices are high here but I have you been to HMART lately? Prices are high there too much Jagalchi meat and food quality is better IMO. If I am ever in the area again, I will stop by for some groceries and a snack! read more
