Very happy with the addition of 99 Ranch Market in Westbury. I no longer need to go from the south shore, all the way to Mineola for Chinese groceries. 99 Ranch is great because it doesn't only carry Chinese or Korean groceries, I have also seen Vietnamese, Thai, and Filipino seasonings, chips, and sauces. Westbury's 99 Ranch does a good job at catering to the local patrons as I see a nice selection of plant-based milks and gluten-free products that I don't usually see at Chinese grocery stores. The ice cream selection is great, but it is more focused on popsicles compared to the HMart in Jericho which has a wide range of unique Asian-inspired ice cream flavors. Most of the cashiers here do speak at least some English. In addition to the very wide range of Asian grocies that 99 Ranch carries, I also really enjoy their food court. There's a hot food bar and bakery here as well.It is so great to have Vietnamese food close to. home. read more

Been here numerous times. Great selection of produce and groceries. Aisles are fully stocked and need to take time to walk through. Went to the bakery later in the afternoon and many items were out. I love 99 ranch so much! This location seems to never be as busy as some other locations even though it's in a high populated area. They have all your Chinese staples along with fresh veggies. They do sample tastes on Saturday. Also when I spent above $50 they gave me a present of milk tea. Although they ran out of wall calendars so fast! I love their food court options here. They have pho, sauerkraut fish soup, dimsum and at the dimsum place if you spend $20 you get a free order of duck buns or soup dumplings. Their soup dumplings are really tasty too! There are so many unique finds here that make this place a go-to destination: pork brains, pork belly, beef belly, mandu (dumplings) stuffed with pork and celery, mandu stuffed with pork, cabbage, and shrimp, duck leg, passion fruit ice cream, fresh lychees, and fresh longan (which tastes similar to lychee). One of the two men sorting the longan even offered me a sample -- it was sweet and refreshing, just like lychee! I also picked up some dim sum from the food court, which was a bargain at 3 for $4.50. The store is well-organized and clean, which makes shopping here a pleasant experience. My only minor gripe is that a few specialty items are priced a bit higher than at regular supermarkets. For instance, the Mavens (brand) passion fruit ice cream costs $11.99 a pint, while Google shows it's sold elsewhere for a few dollars less. This place rocks! It is hands down one of the best Asian supermarket chain out there. The selection is incredible. A bunch of us ran here for dinner in the food court after a movie. This review is for the food court experience. One member of our group got fried chicken tenders (pictured), another a seafood soup, another fried rice cakes, and two of us had pho. We each obtained items from different vendors. I enjoyed the pho and everyone enjoyed their items. Overall decent food court experience. I especially liked that they had a few large sinks right at the beginning of the food court for hand washing so one doesn't have to go to the bathroom to do so. Very convenient and polite vendors. An entire meat section dedicated to hot pot, an entire aisle of soy sauce, and fish sauce, and one of the coolest fish counters that I have seen. This is only the 2nd time I've been to this supermarket. We got super lucky at this 4.40 lbs blue lobster that was on sale for $4.99/lb. It was the only there and I couldn't believe that it was only $21.95. I figured, why not try it! Cooked it right away (boiled with onions, scallions, celery stalks, chicken powder and squeezed a whole lemon) and boiled it for 40 minutes. The lobster was sooo sweet, meaty and perfectly cooked! We got so lucky! The supermarket was clean, organized, well-stocked and has a good selection of meats, seafood, fresh veggies & fruits and lots of dry and frozen goods! I normally shop at H-Mart but I think, I'll be going to 99 Ranch from now on because it's much cheaper too! They also have restaurants, a bakery and a boba place. My favorite part of this branch is the food court. Its clean, minimal wait, with enough seating. The vietnamese stall has become our favorite. Flavor is spot on, consistent & comes fresh & hot. This location is in Samanea New York Mall (same complex as Dave and Busters and Cheesecake Factory) and there is a large parking lot. There are weekly store specials. We got gailan (produce) for $1.28/lb and a bottle of aloe vera for $2.00 (saved $1.49). Each of the aisles are very organized. There is a great selection of products. We passed by a staff member talking about a promo on Vitasoy Soy Drinks. If you purchase 1 pack, you get a PopSocket. Inside, there is also a food court with a seating area. The food court had well known restaurants like Pho Grand and Shanghai You Garden which have multiple locations as well. It is great to have 99 Ranch Market in the area. read more

I recently attended a hosted event to try out every one of the food court restaurants. I have to say, I am very impressed with the selection as well as the quality. Starting at the "deli" which carry your traditional bbq selections as well as hot food. You will not be disappointed. The food is not only hot but fresh. Great selection and great price. No need to run to the city for your Chinese bbq selections. Then I got the Vietnamese restaurant. Spot on with flavors and taste. Sandwiches are amazing and the whole selection presented was spectacular. Next door was the Shanghai soup dumplings. Having eaten at their restaurants in queens, I can say there was no difference. The Peking duck was perfect. Next was the pickled cabbage fish. Don't make a face until you tried it. They have a spicy version and a pickled cabbage version. Just the right amount of sour w spice. Lots of vegetables. Lastly they had Japanese. Again, I have eaten at their restaurant in queens and they have some good talent working here. Rolls are not overly packed with rice and the fish was good. Didn't get to try their hot pot but I'm sure they deliver flavor in their broth. The staff managed the flood of people with ease so don't worry about wait or lines. Each has an order ahead capability and you can find them on all your apps. This is a supermarket so the ambience is acceptable. Clean tables and a very clean bathroom. Those are big plus for me. Sorry, no pictures of the food as I ate everything too quick. Great Asian supermarket but not without flaws. On a positive first note there is ample parking in the lot. Actually, if people know how to park within the lines we can actually have a few more spots. The prices are pretty comparable to supermarkets in Flushing and Long Island. Like anything else, there are some items that are more expensive and some less and with 45,000 square feet of space take your time going up and down the aisles. The quality of the vegetables and produce is really fresh. I noticed the ramen section is light on variety and there is no butcher counter where you can pick and choose your cuts, the meats are prepackaged in the back. The fresh seafood section on ice and fresh water tanks are well stocked with fish and crustaceans. They do excel in drink and snack selections. You can find Irvins salted egg chips here for sale which is comparable to purchasing them online. If you fancy the Asian variety junk food and beverages, they got you covered here. There is a food court with hot food and barbecued meats, ducks and chicken that I did not try. To be honest the ducks and chicken on display looked a little dry from my perspective. I usually see the meats glistening with the drippings from the fat into a pan which was not the case here. A Pho and sushi place is opening soon. The existing bakery has a nice selection of cakes, pastries and breads. Since they opened recently you have to give them time to figure out the dynamics of what works best for them and the customers. This Asian supermarket chain is well known in California but have locations all over the US. Their newest location in Westbury, Long Island is their 57th store and their first store in New York. Today's grand opening enticed many shoppers to come and it was a bit chaotic. The store is quite large but it filled up quickly and lines started forming shortly after the doors opened. We lined up pretty early to watch the ribbon cutting ceremony and to be one of the first to get in. We were really hungry so we made a beeline to the hot food section first. They offered dim sum items, plate specials and even roasted meats. There are tables to the left of the store where you can sit and eat. Afterwards, we went around the store and shopped for a bit. We didn't stay long because at this point the store was quite crowded and lines to the registers were packed. The few items we bought (drinks, snacks and frozen items) were marked well. I would say the prices were slightly lower than my local grocery store. I wish I could have stayed longer to peruse the all the aisles but it was just so crowded. I difinitely plan on coming back after the hype calms down. read more

Much anticipated Asian supermarket comes to Long Island! I visited a week after the opening so all the crowds are gone. The space is large. Some of the food Court area is still under construction. There is a nice bakery and a boba tea place at the entrance. Presently many products are at a discount so go quick before the price returns to normal. Is this supermarket any different from all the other Asian supermarkets that exist in Queens? Not really,but there are some new stuff to try. Parking lot is small and the roadway is poorly maintained; the mall landlord need to take more maintenance care. If in the area I'll visit but since I'm from Queens I have other options. There are still a few areas empty such as sushi, Pho Grand, Shanghai You Garden, CoCo. Prices are decent for all fresh seafood and produce (Super FL might be more aggressive on prices of many items as well as grocery varieties for now. However, Super FL's customer service is terrible at meat Dept, seafood Dept and some cashiers). Staff are all soft spoken (carrying Taiwanese courtesy well so far. Nice to see another Asian market opening in the area. What 99 Ranch got in comparison to its other competitors in the area (Super FL Mart, HMart) is a great variety in different Asian products. They have a bunch of products that I didn't even seen at some of their competitors. They have on the exterior part of the store a bakery, bubble tea spot and hot deli that has hot food to go. There is also a grab and go section next to the customer service desk. Parking is easy since it's located at a mall center. Their grand opening was very crowded, but I think the crowd should be less now that some time has passed. There was some confusion during the grand opening where lines started and ended, but that problem should be resolved now. read more

If you want a spacious, no anxiety-inducing crowds at Asian super market (that you'll normally don't get in Queens) this place is for you. They have a large parking lot outside, the aisles are VERY spaced apart, and many cashier lanes. They have a good selection of produce and non-perishables, but some prices are a bit marked up compared to Flushing/Elmhurst area (but again no crowds). There's a bakery section that sells dessert/savory breads, cakes, and egg tarts. The dessert breads go for about $2.50 to $3, cake rolls are about $10. They even had a giant Dan tat (egg tart). I went pretty late on a weekend and they had an sale for the breads of buy 3 get 1 free. I'm honestly so disappointed. I went today to avoid the opening weekend rush. Obviously, there's still a lot of people here because it is very new, but I thought the staff did a good job stocking and keeping shelves stocked. The produce is a hit-or-miss. Some of the stuff looked very fresh. A lot of things you can't find at regular grocery stores. Unfortunately, some of the produce didn't look so hot and they were not that cheap. The meat section also has a lot of variety, but the quality looks so poor. Seafood looked good for the most part. If you compare 99 Ranch to HMart, 99 Ranch is definitely more skewed towards Chinese grocery. They have a decent selection from Korea and Japan, as well as other East and Southeast Asian countries. But for prices on non-Chinese goods, I would say Hmart is on par or even better. For Chinese items, 99 Ranch has more variety and slightly better prices, I think. Of course, I came to 99 Ranch not only for the groceries but for the promise of to-go food. They only have the hot buffet bar open currently, but I saw there are plans for pho and some indoor seating too. The dimsum and lunch buffet bar are, again, a little disappointing compared to what you can get 20 minutes away in Flushing. There are places on Long Island where you can get food that is similar or better for that price. It's a nice place to stop by after shopping, but not good enough to seek out. Maybe it'll be nicer once CoCo moves in and they get their system down right. I think I was fantasizing too much about west-coast level freshness and prices. This is New York, after all. read more
