Food is just okay. Service was nice. If you just want better food than McDonald's this would be your place.

Service was actually terrible. We had to ask for silverware. Waitress didn't come over to us for 10 mins. Drinks easily took 10-15 mins. She rushed us. She didn't come check on us once. Food was terrible. broccoli tasted like it came forzen and in a plastic bag. my mac and cheese was maybe the size of my fist for a 18$ entree..... The hostess was amazingly nice and my welcome was warm. but the service and food is trash. read more

Had a dinner date with my 8 year old grandson last night. He had the kids' meal hotdog and fries. Said "this is the best hot dog I've ever had. The grilled bun is delicious." I had the sweet potato encrusted haddock. Not the best I've ever had but it was not bad either. A little "heavier" than I had expected. Broccoli was cooked well though and the baked potato was good. We enjoyed the popcorn appetizer and - bonus - kids' meals come with an ice cream sandwich. Our waiter was friendly and professional. There was plenty of seating and parking. First 99 I've ever been to. We ended up going here twice in the week, because it was pretty good. I tried the steak, and chicken tenders. I ordered extra ranch with the chicken because I assumed it wouldn't include much, but it actually included quite a bit! I had a lot left over by ordering extra. The more and more I come to this place the more I like it. I always order the same thing too: Smothered King Tips with loaded mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the day. These king tips are huge and I usually can't finish them all. I always walk home with a doggy bag from this place due to their large servings. The staff has been there quite for a while so its always nice to see familiar faces serving. They serve good alcoholic drinks along with nice TALL beers. One of two should take care of you from appetizer to dessert. read more

In this restaurants defense, I didn't willingly come here. My grandmother LOVES "The 99!" In my grandmothers defense, she literally has no taste buds left and will gladly go anywhere that serves pink lemonade. The reason I didn't give 1 star is because I feel like that 'honor' is reserved for REALLY bad experiences. I didn't have a REALLY bad experience, I just know that I will find other places that serve pink lemonade, because I'm not eating at "The 99!" again. Reason 1: It took a long time to get 2 sandwiches and 2 orders of boneless wings. Reason 2: I think it should be illegal to serve dry, cold burger buns. YOU GOTTA GRILL THEM, TOAST THEM, shoot hold them under the heat lamp, somethinggggg- just please don't send the dry, cold bun to the table. Reason 3: Our server was very nice. I'm very upset with the terrible experience I just had at 99. I ordered food to go for my boyfriend. I asked for Mac and cheese and boneless buffalo wings to go. First of all the buffalo wings weren't buffalo they were bbq or something else and it came with potato skins I guess. Then the food in the picture I have provided was apparently his macaroni and cheese?? This looks like leftovers from someone else's plate that belongs in the trash! He took one bite of the potato skins and boneless chicken and his lip and face and throat swelled up. He has a shellfish allergy and this looks like a possible cross contamination issue?? Not sure, however this experience will never bring back my business nor will I ever recommend anyone to eat at this establishment. Absolutely unacceptable and very very disappointing! My brothers food was cold that he ordered and on top of that his girlfriend pulled out a piece of plastic from her chicken. read more

My wife and I have been going to this 99 for quite some time now and are glad to see the Onion Soup back on the menu. Very good as always. My gripe is with the marinaded steak tips. They have been consistently very good as well, but the last 2 times here, there is definitely something missing. The robust flavor is gone. Still prepared well (I get the smothered tips), but not nearly as flavorful as in the past. IF you changed something in the way you prepare them, please reconsider going back to what has worked for years. Thank you. read more

Clean and inviting. The music was a little too loud which made conversation a little difficult but the staff was friendly and attentive and the food was pretty good. Not great portions but it was hot and prepared pretty well. I'd give it another try in the future. read more

We went for lunch. It was cool and rainy, but we asked to sit outside for safety. Tables were 6 feet apart. They do have outdoor heaters, but they weren't used. I had chicken pot pie, which was good. Our waiter was using a bandana for a mask. It kept falling off his face, so he approached our table multiple times with his face uncovered. I eventually had to say something. We're trying to help their business, but I did not feel comfortable. read more

This review is based off one visit. This seemed like a typical neighborhood bar and grill. Nothing really stood out to me as far as character and excitement. The menu was pretty large, so there were quite a few options. I ordered French Onion soup and the steak and cheese flatbread. The soup wasn't very good. It was way to thick. The broth definitely needed thinned out and adjusted. The flatbread was the shining part of the meal. It was really good. I especially loved the white sauce drizzled on top. It tasted like it had some horseradish in it. I'm sure there are other good things on the menu, I'd probably rather go somewhere with a better atmosphere though. read more

This place and the manager deserve a lot of praise. They took customer service to the next level during my stay in Auburn Maine that made me not only love the 99 more but Maine and its culture even more. 99 in general I think is one of the better chains that offer a great menu, and allow you to eat healthy on the go (reasonably priced salmon, turkey burgers and chicken that taste liked you cooked it at home with some love.) Beyond the menu, I was up in Maine with the Army for two weeks and chose to eat here just about every night for two weeks. They were super nice and had a great staff. I ordered some take out one night and I showed up and they never received my order. Strange.. as I had been calling them almost every night. Apparently I called the wrong 99 from the same town of Auburn but in a different state. (Note to self always type city and state in google) Despite it being my mistake, they knew I had to wait extra long for my food and I had been coming there a lot. They paid for/comped my food that night. The manager was extremely courteous. It's just a really kind thing to do. Management if you see this, give whoever works the front desk and the manager on Thursday's around 8pm a raise/praise/bonus! They have my business every month I come back here and any 99 I find when I'm traveling. read more

Good all around meal at Ninety Nine in Auburn by the Auburn mall. Potato skin appetizer was awesome, they fry the potato skins and then bake them with cheese and bacon if you wish. Nice and crispy and full of cheese. Free popcorn too to start with. App came out quickly as well as our drinks. Friendly waiter and host. Salad was good, but have had better at other Ninety Nine restaurants. No shaved parmesean on salad and much smaller than in previous times. It did have fresh mushrooms which are yum though. The hummus platter was good, fresh hummus that was really tasty with fresh veggies and pita. It also came with feta and olives. The sirloin tips were really tough and not easy to even chew, they were not a real good cut of meat. The tenders which came with it were excellent though. We got a free kids meal because the Red Sox won the nite before, which was awesome. Upgraded the one meal to a three course and got the salad and desert with it, for a small up charge. A pretty good deal. Overall a decent meal other than the sirloin tips. Will continue to go, but just not order that again. read more

This was my first time ordering to go and I will probably never do it again. Although the service was fast and friendly, the food was subpar. Both my friend and I ordered a cheeseburger with a side of fries and bacon Mac and cheese. While the burger tasty, it was very soggy, almost to the point of being inedible, I actually had to take the entire burger off the bun and throw it away. The fries were also soggy and tasted as though they had just come out of the microwave and the Mac and cheese was no better and was dry and completely lacked any sort of cheese. I don't usually expect much of chain restaurants, but I do expect more than a soggy and microwaveable meal. Sorry, but 99 will not get my business again. read more

One of my favourite chain restaurants is 99, and unfortunately they are only in the Northeastern part of the US. But their menu is always great, with something for everyone. So if you have a family of picky eaters, with a wide variety of appetites, this is definitely the restaurant for you. Now, I had two MAJOR disappointments on this trip. They have the best Lobster Rolls, hands down. And they are one of the few that had Connecticut Style Lobster Rolls (with butter and warm, instead of cold with mayo... Maine Style). However, I was informed that they are only available during the Summer. That was a huge let down. Also, I wanted a Sam Adams Octoberfest Beer, which was on the menu. They had sold their last one earlier that day and had switched to the Winter Lager. However, I did have this amazing Grilled Chicken/Green Apple Salad with an Apple Cider Vinegarette salad dressing. It was one of the best salads I've ever had and it was huge. I ended up passing on the beer after that and had some sweet tea instead, which would have passed in any Southern Restaurant. I am very bad about remembering server's names, but she was outstanding and very attentive. The restaurant was very clean and I was very pleased, despite the let downs. Coming out of UMO and having one lackluster experience with what I thought was a pretty generic menu at the 99 in Bangor about a decade ago I thought I'd never eat at one again. Thankfully I went for a school fundraiser and discovered the menu must have been revamped because the food was great! Making your meal a 3-course one with a petit treat at the end is a great deal. It is also a great price with many good portioned entrees only priced around 9.99. Definitely worth the stop. read more
