We met some friends for lunch. Our server was very nice and attentive. Everyone said they enjoyed their food. I had a side of Mac/cheese and a side of broccoli. The Mac /cheese was surprisingly good. Broccoli was a bit overcooked but still very good. My husband had a burger and fries, he really enjoyed the burger which was perfectly cooked, but said the fries were really overly salted. Longhorn is usually a pretty safe bet. At least at home they are. Auburn, ME location, not so much. I arrived around 530 and it was busy. They did get me seated right away. I ordered the seven peppers sirloin salad. It came out fairly quickly within 15 minutes or so. The steak was cooked perfectly, they left the croutons off like I asked. And the salad dressing was very tasty. The problem with the salad was the rotten lettuce that they left on it. When this is your entire meal it is pretty disheartening to have bad bits left on it. Our waitress was friendly but over worked taking care of too many tables to really serve us with refills ect . The man at the door the host didn't take pride in himself. Shirt half untucked , ect. We ordered beverages and the waitress brought out the bread . While sitting there waiting for our food you could not help but notice how run down the place was. Dirty . Tiles in the ceiling missing . Others water stained . Dusty. The divider between my table and the host desk has a Native American looking blanket as the divider. It was thick with dust . Bathrooms just as bad . All I could think was if t looks like this out here how does the kitchen look . Didn't make me excited to eat the food . Which was not great . A middle age woman was running around discombobulated , She had a burgundy shirt on with black pants. Her appearance did not seem appropriate for the job . The service is always great. From the hostesses, to the bartenders and the servers, everyone is friendly and helpful. Our server asked us if we wanted bread before bringing it to the table which I appreciate so the bread isn't wasted when 75% of our table doesn't eat carbs. The restaurant is clean and conveniently located in town. The downside for me is that when I order a filet, I expect a tender piece of meat that I can easily slice my knife through without much trouble. As has happened before, the filet I received took work to cut because it was stringy and not that smooth piece of meat I would expect. There were several pieces of steak that I pushed aside as inedible because of the stringy pieces. I would definitely recommend better steak knives to start but also something has to be done about the meat. I love their sweet potatoes and the ribs are good too. The salad is also enjoyable mostly because they chop the vegetables down to a manageable-to-eat size. And lastly - if you save room for dessert, or if you're just going for dessert, go for the Chocolate Stampede. However, dinner with friends a day ago was not-so-good, the service was subpar at best noticed it was manipulated from a well seasoned service provider. Wife ordered a side salad and was told no we can't offer that as a dinner, heck that's all she wanted. Pretty sure you can not order anything and just sit with a patron without any issue, why can't you sell a salad alone? told no. At the end provided one bill for the four of us (she knew it was not one check and never asked) we just split it to make it easy. For a restaurant with steak in the name I was a quite disappointed. I ordered the New York Strip with a baked sweet potato and a chopped salad. When I made the order I advised them of a cheese allergy. I received the chopped salad and it had cheese on it. Sent it back and got one without, but it was overdressed with italian dressing. Fortunately I am someone who doesn't mind overdressed salads especially if it's a dressing I like, but they ease up on the heavy pouring. The steak came pretty quickly and on first cut I noticed they cooked the steak to rare. You could clearly see just a quick set of grill marks on each side and the size of the New York strip looked more like a sirloin strip. It was about 3/4" thick (maybe 1" in some parts), but it was literally the width of 1.5 forks side-by-side. That is certainly not the New York Strip I am used to seeing on TV or even in the picture. I sent it back and they reheated it to a medium at my request. The baked sweet potato was good, but I didn't care for the cinamon sugar mix they gave me in a small condiment cup. I didn't see any purpose to adding it on and make it more sweet than it already is. Just my preference, others may like it. The establishment was kept up well with clean floors and the bar, where I sat, was at least clean in my spot, but a few chairs down they had yet to clean up after the previous customer (there were 3 other people at the bar). Bartender was pleasant to talk to, but her acohol pours are a bit skimpy as my Jack and coke was more coke and ice with a splash of Jack. I would consider trying this place again, but they would have to step up their game when it comes to the size of their steaks and the cook I ask for. read more

We were always pleased with our meal. But we went recently for my husbands 70th birthday. I asked for medium on my steak, when I got it it was raw! Couldn't get the waitress til it was to late to send it back. I asked her what she thought and she said raw. She said well you can cook it more at home. Also the Brussel sprouts were very under done. Couldn't eat those. The potato was over done. You had to eat it with a spoon. My husband had the salmon. He was eating it n when he got passed the end, it was raw! He had stomach issues all evening. I came in last night with my parents last night. my Dad was treating my mother and me to birthday dinner. The food was really good for the most part. The only complaint on the food was the side of Mac and cheese. It was so dry to the point of being inedible. The service however, was the worst any of us had ever experienced. The waitress was rude from the moment she stepped to our table. She didn't come check on us at all unless we saw her and called her over, with the exception of bringing our food over. My mother, on at least four occasions, saw her just standing around looking around the dining area. I have been a waitress before, and even if you are new to the job, this is completely unacceptable. if I had to rate based solely on our waitress, it would be a zero. She seemed like she had a chip on her shoulder in regards to her job and customer service. read more

Yeah, I found food. I was a little nervous about eating here but my mom wanted to go so you do as mom says. I ordered the Strawberry Pecan salad without cheese, with a baked potato and steamed asparagus on the side. The salad came with feta on it so it went back. The rest were fine. It's actually hard to order hit veggies that are not already pre drenched in butter. These were steamed and plain wicked worked out great. My salad came back and it was okay.
