Staff were super friendly, very knowledgeable and worked with my allergens (soy, gluten, potato, pecan, goat milk). I got the truffle cured meat which was delicious and the cheese flight with curated pairings. The pickled peach jam type thing they made to go with an absolutely amazing ricotta was my favorite. I've never met a cheese I just wanted to let sit in my mouth, enjoy the taste and the texture of before (and I love cheese, but this was a whole other level)! We ended up buying the ricotta to go along with around $100 worth of other cheese and items. They offer samples, so if you are unsure about a cheese, just ask. If you're curious, ask. In general, tell them what you already know you like or dislike and let them choose a cheese to try! Prices seem fair with the need to make some $ to stay open and the current terrif happenings. Regarding allergies, they checked labels (voluntarily after I indicated allergies), cleaned the prep area for me and warned that they couldn't guarantee no cross contact but would do all they could. Which is just grand for me. Cheese is prepped elsewhere from other items so should be celiac fine even if other stuff isn't. will be returning.

What a great name! I enjoyed my first experience at Mouse Hole. Customer service alone was stellar! A perfect place to enjoy a bottle of wine and a charcuterie with unique cheeses that pair well with wine and added items. This place is quaint. Not a big place by any means. Very simple. Close to work is an added bonus!

This place is small and quaint and good for a quiet date night. The staff are very friendly and helpful in making selections. The charcuterie boards are large and beautiful and well curated and scrumptious. They are also customizable for add-ons like additional cheeses. You can also go in to purchase just cheese by the pound, items from the shop, or sandwiches for lunch that sound great too. Staff will let you try any cheeses and will spend a lot of time describing and comparing them with you. They're very knowledgeable and patient.

    Cheese board. Fabulous.

What find!! Thanks to my niece who recommended it. Wonderful selection of cheese and meats. We had a great cheese board and will be back to buy some.

Who knew there was an amazing cheese shop hiding in downtown? Tried this place with some friends for lunch. I got the p brie and j which had cashew butter as its p and that was delicious. I even forgot to take a picture until it had a bit of a bite out of it because it just looked so good! The place has a small dining room along with some outdoor seating and an extensive cheese display. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about all of the cheeses so I even had to pick up some of those. They were preparing some of their catering cheese boards at the time and those also looked incredible. Overall a great experience and I'll have to go back and try more things!

I was going out for dinner but I stumbled on this little shop and so I changed my plans. I already have some very good bread at my hotel so some cheeses and a small container of marinated artichoke and roasted peppers were perfect additions for a light meal. The quality here is quite high. The Mouse Hole Cheese Shop will be a destination for me on future visits to Albuquerque.

July pairing of the month, so refreshing!

This is the quintessential oasis in the desert! Ordering the July Pairing of the month with watermelon, feta, mint, et al with a shot Milagro vino was the way to go.... sensational!! I also ordered the formage special sandwich to go, and a few other delectable treats (roship spread, fig jam, Isaac's table house made crackers)...simply cannot wait to dive in. What a lovely nook, just all the feels my friends....and absolutely exceptional service. I secretly want to keep this place all to myself, but are compelled to spread the word and keep this treasure thriving!

A two-minute walk from my apartment and a few doors down from La Finca Bowls, The Mouse Hole Cheese Shop, is the newest storefront to open up in the East Downtown (EDo) neighborhood. And it's a gem. Just like its older sister La Finca Bowls. Both are owned by the same couple. Upon entering the Mouse Hole space, you instantly feel cozy and warm, surrounded by deep blues and greens. They offer locally made cheeses, along with favorites from around the world. They have traditional cheese boards focusing on cheeses from Spain, France, and our area. They have the expected accouterment for a cheese shop and cafe, including sandwiches, salads, locally-baked bread, and escabeche. I had to look up the latter. "Escabeche is the name for a number of dishes in Spanish, Portuguese, Filipino, and Latin American cuisines, consisting of marinated fish, meat, or vegetables, cooked or pickled in an acidic sauce (usually with vinegar), and colored with paprika, citrus, and other spices." -- Wikipedia Mouse Hole's wine list includes those from the same regions. The owners and crew welcome you to linger and encourage discussing all things cheese.

What a hidden gem! We had two sandwiches with some unique and delicious chips. The bread was thin but nice and soft. The fillings were perfect and the cheese was amazing. We will definitely be back!!

I needed a wheel of Tete de Moine cheese for new year and the online options got sketchy reviews about freshness or late deliveries. I called The Mouse Hole and not only did they order it for me in record time (3-4 days), it was also $20 less than online prices and that didn't even include shipping! The nice surprise was when I went to pick it up. It's such a cute shop filled with great and unique cheeses, spreads and antipasto items. They had several sandwich options too, which we weren't expecting. We got the Rosemary's Baby sandwich. When I got it, I thought it was heavy on the bread and skimpy on the filling. I was wrong. It was delicious with the perfect amount of everything! I normally pick off any excess bread, but I ate everything as it was prepared. After our sandwich, we went back to the counter to taste a few other cheeses and bought some more. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions, even though they were busy. They even have a small but comfortable seating area to dine in. While we were there, there was a steady flow of people. You might have a little wait to be served, but it's definitely worth it. I'm so happy to have found a cheese shop that i can shop at in person, request a special order and have a delicious lunch!

Mouse Hole is a small unassuming cheese shop on the corner of Broadway and Tijeras. It opened in October 2022, so just over half a year old. It's owned by Mekala Kennedy and Nathan Sauceda-Halliday, who also own the nearby restaurant La Finca Bowls. MH has 35+ selections of cheese. I said I was looking for a super sharp white cheddar, and the associate suggested two, which he readily offered labeled samples of. I selected the Deer Creek's Imperial Buck, an extra aged cheddar from Wisconsin and a two time ICA winner. It's a pasteurized milk cheese described as "nutty, butterscotch, and crystalline". The second suggested cheese was one I can't recall the name of that was slightly peppery. The Imperial is $32.50/lb. I got 1/2 lb, which the associate wrapped, labeled, and dated for me. The smallest cut of cheese MH offers is generally 1/4 lb. They also have "minis", which are small pieces left over from wheel cuttings if you'd like to try smaller bits. The associate was very friendly and knowledgeable. I met the owner briefly as he was organizing items in the back and he thanked me for coming in. The shop has a nice indoor sitting area where patrons can dine, and they can browse the selection of other items as well. There is outdoor seating as well that faces Broadway. MH also carries limited selections of pickled items, sardines, a few sausages, drinks, etc. I'd recommend MH for sure. They have cheeses from the USA, as well as imported selections from France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, and Spain. The selection isn't huge, but given they've only been open for about half a year I'd give them the time to ideally expand. In the meantime, go check them out!

Finally made it to this lovely cheese shop. Had a great time with a couple girlfriends. Staff was super friendly and helpful. It was Thursday and bottles of wine were 1/3 off. Loved the atmosphere and ambiance. Highly recommend. Yummy cheese!

Amazing customer service and the charcuterie board was delicious!! Loved the extras olives, fresh fruit, jam, peppers, nuts. We added salami to our cheese board and paired perfect with the cheeses. Can't wait to return for more!

Hidden Gem in Nobhill Albuquerque…read more I recently visited the restaurant at Mission Winery and had a great experience from start to finish. To start, I ordered the sangria and the crab & artichoke dip. The sangria was on the sweeter side but not overwhelmingly so, making it easy to enjoy with the appetizer. The dip was delicious, creamy, and packed with flavor, although I honestly couldn't taste much artichoke. It was still a great starter, especially paired with the bread. For dinner, I ordered the red chile fried chicken bites with fries. The chicken was the standout of the meal--crispy, flavorful, and coated in a delicious red chile sauce that had just the right amount of kick. The fries were perfectly cooked and paired well with the ketchup. My friend shared the appetizer with me and ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad, which she enjoyed alongside one of the wine tasting flights. The real surprise of the evening came after dinner. Our host handed us a card with a password to access the speakeasy downstairs. If you visit Mission Winery, don't skip this part. The speakeasy had a completely different atmosphere from the restaurant above and quickly became the highlight of the night. The space feels intimate, sophisticated, and thoughtfully designed, with dark wood accents, comfortable seating, and a stylish lounge vibe. My friend and I both ordered espresso martinis, and they were fantastic. The presentation alone was impressive--the unique glassware was chilled and helped keep the cocktail cold longer, allowing us to enjoy it at a relaxed pace. Between the excellent food, wine, creative cocktails, and the hidden speakeasy experience, Mission Winery offers much more than just a typical dinner out. The restaurant was great, but the speakeasy downstairs is what will have me coming back. Recommendation: Start with dinner upstairs, then ask about the speakeasy password and finish your evening downstairs with an espresso martini. It's one of the coolest date night or girls' night experiences I've found in Albuquerque.

A Hidden Gem for Wine Lovers in Old Town…read more Stopped into Noisy Water Winery while walking around Old Town and it ended up being one of the highlights of the afternoon. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a really cool art-gallery vibe throughout the space. It's the kind of place where you can easily lose track of time sipping wine and browsing the local artwork. The wine selection was impressive--lots of unique New Mexico wines to choose from, and the tasting flights are a great way to try several different varieties. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, offering recommendations based on what we liked and explaining the wines without making it feel intimidating. We also tried a cheese board which paired perfectly with the wine and made the whole experience feel a little extra special. Whether you're a serious wine enthusiast or just looking for a fun stop while exploring Old Town, this place is definitely worth checking out. Great wine, great vibe, and great service. The wine list is well selected and offers some nice little discoveries. The food is hit and miss. -Pigs' ears were incredible, fried mushrooms were not (heavy on the breading and mushrooms were impossible to taste). -The multitude of pickles are fun but sometimes overwhelm the palate and risk becoming a schtick. -The chicken liver pâté (actually a parfait) was good flavor-wise but wasn't emulsified properly (grainy) and was served too cold (and therefore hard) rather than at room temperature where it would be rich and creamy. -While I understand that it's easier to manage, I'd have liked to see some fresh bread as an alternative to the croutons. The salumi were likewise hit-and-miss. -The bresaola (a hard one to hit on) was overly salty, a little too dried, and should have been cut paper thin on the slicer rather than thickish slices offered. -The salami was very good -The fries had excellent flavor but it would be nice to see them achieve better crisp (thrice-fried) and little less salt (something that comes up a little often throughout). Having said all this, the chef is having fun in the kitchen, experimenting, and coming up with some ingenious items and combinations. So I'd like to see more consistency but there was enough to choose from that I will definitely go back.

My husband had a glass of Savignon Blanc good enough to have a second one and I had a mocktail that was excellent-a real adult drink, named Not An Old Fashion) hint of sweetness, several ingredients including orange, Campari, a cherry. It was delicious, interesting. We were after a light bite and I had the chicken liver pate, a nice cube of it with lots of bread and a scattering of pickled vegetables-nice contrast! I had the roasted butternut squash also, a generous serving, with a very crunchy skin. Once I figured out I could break the skin by folding it with my fork after making a crease in it with my knife I ate every bit of it, the creamy flesh and the crisp peel and the greens that came with it. Husband had the smoked tinned oysters that I thoroughly enjoyed on his behalf because he wasn't wild about it. He admitted he is partial to fresh oysters and so no other preparation was going to match that preference. His loss, my gain. We finished off the meal sharing the chocolate bark and we lingered over our drinks, chatted with the waiter and the chef and left feeling happy with the adventure. It's pricey so be forewarned. I found the uniqueness of the flavors, the attention paid by the chef and the drinkologist to flavor, balance, presentation and the civilized atmosphere to be worthy of the cost. If I want a hearty meal I can head up to the Frontier but for an outstanding intimate meal Wolf & Swallow wins.
