I went in hoping for a wide and dizzying array of spicy products, but was instantly confused, as I was greeted with many, many glass figurines and touristy bric-a-brac. I eventually found the hot sauce section, which, incidentally, is incredibly well organized, including the cool display for the Ass Kickin' stuff (prices on the hot sauces are outstanding and there are several I have seen here and nowhere else), but I wish the rest of the store was organized similarly. The entire thing screams clutter and spicy products (I think, I tried really hard to find them all, but maybe (probably) missed some) are maybe 20% of the floor space. The rest is coffee and mugs and t-shirts and pinon stuff and just random...shit. Back to my confusion...I don't understand why this place is called Chile ADdict when so little of the inventory is related to piquancy. I guess calling it a gift shop would be less interesting, maybe? Anyway, if you have a lot of time and patience to spend carefully hunting and foraging around this (sometimes precariously and hapazardly) scattered array, it can definitely be rewarding, but it won't be fast. read more

I was trying to find a souvenir shop in Albuquerque and I luckily found this little store. It was a great find because I didn't know where to get a touristy gift for someone. This store has everything! Dream catchers, all types of salsa, New Mexican coffee...little knickknacks... I will come again when I need my next gift! read more

For those of you like myself, be warned this place is so incredibly cluttered. The overflow of products spilled onto the floor in so many places and made for difficult navigation. I went in for one specific things, thankfully they had it and it was easily accessible. The array of chili products (salsa, hot sauce), coffee, and NM goodies were plentiful. The prices are reasonable and fair. The employee was engaging and helpful. It really was hard to get past the layout and the secret handshakes to access products to purchase. The location is easily accessible from the freeway, it is across the street from a huge Walmart , so I imagine they get the foot traffic. If the store can do a little spring cleaning, this place would be perfect. For those of you wondering, I went there for the piñon incense and it's much cheaper than the souvenir shops I've seen in Taos and Santa Fe. read more

This is the cutest store and the lady (and doggies!) we're so incredibly friendly. We really enjoyed our visit. They have a good selection of chili seeds for growing. Can't wait to get everything planted. We highly recommend this place! read more

If want anything that has chili in it or on it this is the place to go. The prices are good and the selection is great. The one issue is that you might have to look around the store for what you want as it is a little disorganized. It is a busy place to it is difficult to get help when you need it. read more

If I had to describe the experience in one word, it would be... Cluttered. But I suppose in a gift shop that can be a good thing. You will certainly not complain about a small selection here. The shop is absolutely packed with gifts, decor, and curios of all kinds with an emphasis on Chile and New Mexican kitsch. In the back, though, is the real draw for me: coffee and Chile products. They carry both NM Piñon Coffee in a variety of flavors and their own brand of coffee with Piñon nuts, available in 5 pound bags ground or whole bean, and flavored on request. This coffee is really very good, it may be my new preferred brand for Piñon coffee. The owner and clerk is friendly and helpful, and you may need her help to navigate. read more

The woman who runs this store is disorganized and completely scatter brained. Do not go in this store if you don't have lots of time to waste, both looking for items and trying to get checked out. She is more fascinated with making sure you have her business card than getting anything done in a timely manner. Simply not worth the aggravation in my opinion. I won't be back. read more

Jammed-packed with great pepper-related products! Stop by and start a coversation with the owner, as she is an expert on all types of peppers! Take some dried peppers home for your home-made sauces or buy a couple of jars of salsa for a fun and spicy evening! Don't forget to bring home some great hot sauce! p.s. The Chile Addict feels at first like this shop really belongs in with the antique shops above Nob Hill, downtown or next to Walgreens near Oldtown. It was in the Princess Jeanne Shopping Center before and moved to it's current location about 12 years ago. This store is difficult to describe. It feels like a pricey tourist souvenir shop that decided to go thrift store too. With so much going on everywhere inside it's walls (the close & packed isles) it feels nice and cozy at first and then claustrophobic after a while. From floor to ceiling Here is the UPSIDE: It really does have most everything chile related. Salsas, candy, hot sauce, aprons, napkins, cookie jars, cookie cutters, candles, wrapping paper, material, cookbooks, calendars, socks, boxer, tees, earrings, seeds, sauces, powders and ristras from real to light strings. In addition, you'll find many things Southwestern like howling coyotes, kokopellis, etc., NM related (Zia stuff, balloon fiesta items, Rt 66) and even UNM Lobo items. You'll see Native gifts like dream catchers and Kachina dolls. Candles, incense, NM Pinon Coffee products, loose teas, soup & sopapilla mixes, atole, Desert Gardens products and even the red/green tortilla chips available anywhere. There is a party section (with streamers from Party City), a tiny souvenir section with shot glasses, stickers, pens, magnets, key-chains, etc., a ceramic tile area, windchimes area, cookbook & calendar area. Christmas ornaments, cookie jars, towel sets, placemats and coffee mugs. A jewelry counter and walls full of pictures, painting and crosses. You may think I've included everything in the store in this list. I assure you I have not. The DOWNSIDE: It is expensive. Even the broken sets and items in their clearance section that are chipped/broken/etc. are still high. We asked about the price on a few coasters and were told they were just what was left of a larger set that they no longer stock. When we asked the price on the remainder, we were given an oddly high number which would total more than the set price and told it was because we were now buying individual pieces. It has too much junk. It feels like you've visited a stall at the flea market where people are selling their personal junk along with merchandise. Old vhs tapes, outdated cans of cola, ornaments and too many assorted oddities can be found here. It was hot. Both of my last two visits were in summer months and while their A/C was running, it was hot in there. A very interesting browse but you can do better in Old Town. read more

This is an old fashioned souvenir shop, like stepping into the past; cluttered and dusty with all sorts of interesting things. One of the interesting things is lots of different hot sauces, chiles. They have a big collection of novelty hot sauces, funny, even a bit naughty. The prices are a bit on the high side I think but time is money and you find it all here.
