We were there from August 29th - September 4th. We stayed in the Conductor's Cottage again. Everything went perfectly. The cottage was very clean. In fact, I have a very bad dust allergy, but my allergy symptoms never occurred while staying here which is saying something! The water pressure was great, and I loved that there's always extra toilet paper available in the cottage in case we need some. I love that the cottage has plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery since my husband and I didn't go out to eat except once while we were there. We didn't need to go out since Tiffany makes a big and delicious breakfast every morning. Seriously, the woman should be a chef as well. She's so good with breakfast, and it's always the best breakfast I've had. Tiffany also did a fantastic job at making me a breakfast that I could have with my many dietary needs. With breakfast, it's like a family style thing where you all sit at one table to eat. There is the option of having breakfast delivered to your room if you'd rather not eat with others. Tiffany (the owner) is super nice, and she always would ask us if we needed anything for our room every morning. She makes you feel so welcome and like part of the family. This girl would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. Seriously, Tiffany is such a great human. The bed was super comfy and the AC gets pretty cold. It's a mini split, but it definitely got the room cold quickly despite the Texas heat. In fact, I even had to turn up the AC to 80 many times because I would get so cold! There are trains that go by many times throughout the day and night as the railroad tracks are near the Katy House. However, there are earplugs in the room if you don't like the noise. I find it soothing though. It's very close to a bar (Huebel's), but the bar stays very quiet even on a weekend, so no worries about bar noise or even the noise from people coming out of the bar. The B&B is a block away from Main Street so there are a few restaurants and shops within a very short walking distance. Speaking of walking, my husband and I would walk/run about five miles every night we were there. All the streets we ran/walked seemed safe. We never encountered anything bad. Tiffany even gave us some pointers about where to walk to to get out in nature away from the hustle and bustle of the town. (Although the locals are very nice.) Minnie (a member of staff) was also really nice when we would see her. She would always smile and say hello. She's also a sweetheart. While we were there, we got to see a couple of squirrels close up. The squirrels love jumping from tree to tree around the area. Parking is plentiful. It's all street parking around the property, but it's all very safe to park around the building. The tv is a smart tv, so there were plenty of streaming options and services to sign in to. However, if you don't do streaming services, there was still channels available you could watch without signing into anything. Be sure to stay at the Katy House if you've ever wanted to experience Heaven on Earth. I'm convinced Tiffany is an angel here on Earth! Pretty sure that when you stay at the Katy House, you actually get transported to Heaven. Definitely stay here, and you'll see what I mean. You'll want to keep coming back!

The room was very elegant and the amenities and personal touches were very thoughtful. I am a candy lover and I am sorry to say, I almost emptied of their candy trays. The breakfast was very good and prepared by the owners husband who is a chef by trade. We travel a lot and I can honestly say Katy House is one of the best B&Bs we have stayed. If you have a chance, check out th Hueble Biergarten, which is right across the street. It's a local bar with friendly patrons.

It is such a nice, quiet park in a country atmosphere with very friendly owners. Sites are well maintained and laundry facilities are exceptional. The bath houses are currently under construction. The owners are very conscientious about maintaining and improving the grounds and providing a tranquil, well kept campground for their renters. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and highly recommend!

The cabin area is very peaceful, away from the tents and RVs. The office staff was friendly and helpful. 02 Apr 2023…read more Reluctantly we go home today. Our two-day stay has been idyllic. This is the word that sums up this bed and breakfast. As stated before, the owners are nice, perfect hosts. They are welcoming and accommodating. The breakfasts are better than even those in the best restaurants. The selection of Keurig coffees is ten-fold. But it is the tranquility that makes it so hard to leave. Sitting on the back yard river decks, we saw hawks, cardinals, sparrows, pigeons, ducks, herrings, humming birds and woodpeckers. Someone's herd of cows comes down to the river to drink and then return home. Also, kayakers row by and wave to you. Taking in the sunrises and sunsets almost made us regret living in the city. They are so beautiful at the Perry River House. Go there.

Wow- what nice, quiet break from Austin…read more Anna really created a magical, peaceful retreat with everything we could ask for. We had a family reunion there this weekend- what a beautiful home to reconnect in. I loved the big, open kitchen/living room were everyone could be in the same room but doing different things- we had board games going on, cooking, and people catching & relaxing by the warm fireplace all in the same main downstairs room. Oh, and the views!! So calming, especially the fog coming through in the early morning. Really enjoyed the porch as well and walking around the property to watch a stunning sunset. As a bonus, the house was in perfect condition, complete even with gorgeous locally sourced wood features, organic soaps and high quality shampoos, etc. The kitchen was also stocked with basics and more (tea, wine, etc). Definitely look at a map before you head out b/c if you have T-mobile or Verizon, cell coverage eventually is lost. It's easy to find if you know what you're looking for. Highly highly recommend staying here for some time to wind down and breathe- definitely wish we could have stayed longer!! So this is where we held our wedding reception. It's an interesting place, a small compound of…read more"meeting, recreation, and lodging facilities" according to the website. Kind of a hotel/motel, kind of out in the country, that also rents out u-hauls, and has a small cafe open on the weekends, and now even has the "Live Oak Bar," which we have yet to visit. Our reception was held in the "town hall" building that is now the bar. We basically picked it because it was by far the cheapest option of all that we researched. The owner, John (I believe, again, bad with names), was good to work with and was easy to get in touch with when we needed to. In addition to renting the hall, we also paid for a bit of catering from the venue (don't let the website pictures fool you, they do not make wedding cakes, but they can do simpler stuff). They provided bottled water, tea, coffee, and lemonade, as well as let us rent some white tablecloths (no, we didn't have a "dry" wedding, it's just that we bought our alcohol at Specs). All of that was at reasonable prices and worked out well, though the cups they provided for the tea and lemonade were kinda small. I was impressed that they supplied Aquafina water rather than some cheaper off-brand. We used an outside vendor for food, and they were okay with that as long as we brought the food in and didn't actually have other caterers on-site. The town hall was nothing fancy of course, we knew that for the price. We were using their tables and chairs, and some of the tables weren't in the greatest of shape, but they were fine once we covered them with tablecloths. We were able to decorate prettymuch how we wanted, they just wanted us to use the hooks that were already on the ceiling rather than attach anything new, which was fine. The whole story of how the reception went would take a long time, but what's pertinent is that there were no problems with the venue or the catering. Everyone enjoyed themselves and there were no complaints about the facilities. We did agree to clean up after the reception and that wasn't so bad since we had friends and family to help us. The next day the owner thanked us for doing such a good job and said that we didn't have to be so thorough. Cool, cool. Okay, okay, so why am I leaving off a star? Well, as mentioned in a previous review, we didn't live in Bastrop at the time. We weren't really keen on staying at my mom's place on our wedding night, so we decided to rent one of the two suites at the lodge for the night. This was of course discussed with the proprietors in advance just like all of our other plans. When we got to the suite in the early afternoon, just after getting married at the courthouse, the AC units (one window unit type-thing for the livingroom part of the suite and one for the bedroom part) were not on and it was really, really hot in there (remember, summer '09 had a bunch of 100+ degree days around this time). They knew we were coming, and I'm guessing they knew what suite we were getting (they only have 2 and then like 20 regular rooms), and of course they also knew we were spending a bunch more money than most of their guests (I don't think this place gets many wedding receptions these days), so maybe they could spend the extra dollar or so and have the room cool when we arrived? We needed to get to work setting up for the reception, so we just quickly put our stuff down, and turned on the AC units so that it would at least be cool by the time that we came in for the night. When we came back a few hours later to put on our Indian outfits for the reception, the rooms still weren't completely cooled off, especially the bedroom (the ACs weren't the newest, so we chalked it up to that). We sweated through our clothing preparations. Then the reception happened, obviously. So after we got done cleaning up we went back to the room. The living room part of it was nice and cool. The bedroom part of it was still hot and stuffy. We couldn't figure it out at first since the AC was obviously running, but then when we put our hands up to it we realized that it was blowing outside-temperature air. Yes, it was set to AC, it was just broken. It was late at night, we were exhausted and wanted to be alone to process the day, and we didn't feel like moving all of our stuff to a different room (we also didn't know if another suite was even available, or if we'd be able to reach anyone to move us). So yeah, we ended up opening the fold-out couch in the living room, and sleeping very uncomfortably on that. Not a great end to our wedding day. It really seems like they should've made sure that our suite would be ready for us, given the circumstances. I mean, I wasn't expecting rose petals and champagne, but a working AC would be nice.
