On F&F Night, they provide gloves for you to use and you get a water (which I definitely needed!) I like that the music is loud and everyone was friendly. I was told about this place from my friend Nicole. She said she purchased an online deal, but I…read moredecided to go through Yelp. I purchased 5 classes for 29.99. If you sign up for class, tell them Megan Lamb sent you! ;) So, the process is such that, you can't just show up for your first class. You have to call and schedule an intake/one-on-one sort of thing. Sometimes they are booked out, but I was able to get my one-on-on within a week. Okay, so they're supposed to call you a day before to remind you of your workout and tell you to come a half hour earlier. This didn't happen so I showed up late. They were friendly and accommodating about it. So, when you come in a half hour early, they sit with you and talk to you about your goals. Then you workout with the class who has a main instructor, but you're also with a personal instructor. This instructor focuses on you so that you can learn the techniques and they can answer questions. After the workout, they sit you down to see how you like it and discuss the cost of the membership. I'm not going to lie, it's steep. However they sort of tack on an extra month, plus classes are unlimited, as well as a few other small perks like special classes and free gloves. You either can afford it or you can't, but honestly? If you go to class, it's worth it. They add you to their Facebook group to introduce you to everyone. This is also how they try to maintain a family/community feel. You can either choose to participate or not. I keep up with it because they'll have announcements and reminders, so it's a good group to be a part of. It's also good for accountability reasons. Everyone is super supportive, encouraging and helpful. What I like? The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and motivating. The workout itself is extremely challenging, but it's for all age groups, shapes and sizes. Every type of person is there and there are always new people. You can tell that there are cliques; obviously there are people who are friends and/or who have been going a while. They try to make it feel like a family. And if you go regularly enough, you start to feel apart of it all. I've never felt left out. The music is fun to workout to. You can tell they put time into making playlists that will motivate you. This is important because music matters. Especially when you hate your life like I do during the warm-up. Classes are an hour long and they kick your butt. This is a lot like a boot camp class, but for me, way more fun. I mean, come on, who doesn't want to punch some bags?! It's a great, stress relieving workout. Since I have started, they have added more classes, especially in the morning. I don't have a problem with the schedule because there's always a class that I am able to attend. This has been the only thing that has gotten me motivated lately. I think anyone could benefit from this type of workout. It's seriously badass and a confidence/self esteem booster. Cons for me? Partner work is my least favorite part of the class because I am ridiculously uncoordinated, however it still can be fun. I mostly just feel bad for my partner for being so terrible. Also, knowing your left from right is hard! Staff are friendly and out-going. Members are nice. Studio is clean, as well as the bathroom facilities. There's a parking lot with plenty of space; it's right next to Kohl's. What are you waiting for? And what do you have to lose?! Go give it a try!

A friend told me about IFF (and trainer Shannon) and I finally got up enough guts to check it out with the 2 week trial. I was hooked after the first class. Shannon is positive, energetic, motivating, and supportive. He challenges you while also assisting with any needed adjustments. The classes are tough - but you can go at your own pace, too. The center is split up into two parts: a small gym (personal training, workouts on your own if you choose) and a group fitness room. Classes range from Core to Kickboxing, with others thrown in for variety, including some Insanity-type workouts. Memberships are monthly and you can adjust them to fit your needs (several times a week vs. unlimited, etc.). As a former martial arts student for many years, I really enjoy this aspect of the classes! I know these types of workouts aren't for everyone, but they're perfect for me. I always leave sweaty and tired, but feeling better because I came. I love the small, community feel here and have been so thrilled with my experience thus far. On top of that - I'm seeing results...both physically and mentally. What a difference, truly, a great workout outlet makes! Thanks so much to Shannon and the IFF crew.

I completed my Six Week Bootcamp Challenge, and am writing the required, "honest" review included…read morein the terms when I signed up for my "Free" 6 week challenge which cost me, all told $441. But I get ahead of myself. I really want to give an honest, useful review, and I will write from good to bad. Food Program: 5 The diet and exercise program is effective, without being overly complex. In 6 weeks, following their required minimum attendance at 3 bootcamps (I did 4 for two weeks), and mostly following the food plan religiously, I lost 20.1 lbs and reduced my body fat % by 4.4. The results are there to be had, if you commit and don't get injured. They tell you up front that the weight-loss results are 80% from following the food plan rigorously, and I have to agree. The horror of my normal diet was revealed to me as I converted to a low-carb, high protein "clean" diet. I was not hungry ever, though changing habits to cook within the program limitations required some extra time. Nothing worthwhile is easy I guess. Exercise Program: 5 The workouts were excellent. High intensity circuit training, with variety every day. I was amazed to find out how thoroughly my body could be worked in no more than 45 minutes! Different trainers bring their individual styles, and after a couple weeks I knew which classes to attend for best satisfaction. (If you're new to exercise, have laid off for too long as I had, or generally don't know your kettle bells from your lats, please pay attention to the "Personalization" section, later.) Staff: 4.5 Generally decent. The front office staff involved in getting me started all knew their specific roles. Though the "on-boarding" seemed a little rushed, they do have a well-oiled system for getting more and more people into their system. As for trainers -- They all know what they're doing, and led fun classes. I found 3 regular instructors to be especially knowledgeable and willing to work above and beyond the minimums: Hat-tip to Alex Mariani, Andrew McWilliams and Justin Pleznik, who all contributed directly to helping me avoid injury!! Each person will find their own favorites, and these were mine. Personalization: 2 I entered the program as a sedentary 52 year old with back issues. I explicitly noted to everyone I talked to that my priority was not injuring my back. During the induction process, everyone assured me that there would be plenty of custom tailoring to my needs, but I found myself to be largely on my own in making sure I didn't push too hard, too fast. Know thyself! As I noted above, if you're new to exercise, circuit training, groups, free weights, etc., you will mostly be expected to figure everything out on your own, or by watching the regulars. Take things at a pace YOU can tolerate. Don't push too hard and injure yourself on day 1. No one will be telling you not to, aside from the general guidance to work to your own limits. For the price, I expected a little more personal attention to technique, form, etc. I got if from the three mentioned above, but I think those first couple classes are the balance point between a successful course, and a potential horrifying crash into injury. YMMV. Cost/Advertising: 1 I have two issues: First, false/misleading advertising, and second hidden prices/evasive answers. === False/Misleading Advertising === I responded to a Facebook Ad boldly touting a "FREE" 6-week challenge bootcamp. Within moments of entering my initial orientation, I was sat down to discuss cost. It's free, right? Well, "The Challenge is free... we normally sell that for $799, but we're giving it away to you! All you have to do is pay $294, for 6 weeks. After 6 weeks your "Membership will automatically continue at $49 per week. You can cancel any time after your six weeks, but you have to give us 30 Days cancellation notice..." tl;dr - this FREE challenge will cost you $294, which is -- wait for it -- $49 a week!! The same price you will continue having automatically debited after your six weeks ends. And if you're not careful, you're also locking yourself into 4 weeks BEYOND the 6 weeks. If their phrasing leads you to believe you can't give notice of quitting until after your six weeks is complete, you will be locked into 4 more payments of $49. To successfully leave this Six Week program you have to give 30 days notice before you even begin your THIRD WEEK! When I wanted to continue, but not at the VIP level, I asked for alternative price packages. They have nothing in writing to give me. I asked, what would the price be for the right to attend 3 classes a week, instead of unlimited. I was told $67 a week. That is insane, if my unlimited package is $49. Stop the misleading ads. Just tell people it is $49 a week, and no alternatives exist. The only reason I'm not continuing the program is because of this cost/evasiveness issue. Larissa (GM) was super, processing my cancellation quickly, with no hassles. Thank you

Luckily, the instructors are insanely supportive (and won't pressure you), and the attendees are various skill levels. There are two main rooms to this facility - one with a soft floor for jujitsu or yoga and one with punching bags, ropes, a big tire, etc. for hardcore training. While I've only had the chance to participate in one class so far, I'll definitely update my review as I have a chance to explore the diverse schedule that's available. I will say, it was a bit of an ego blow trying to keep up with people who have been in the program for a while, but my teacher made sure I understood he was there to help me reach my personal goals, no comparing, no judgement... just one step at a time. Also, he taught me the PROPER way to do even simple things like squats (which I was doing totally wrong). One word to the wise... if you don't have your own boxing gloves, get some!
