Driving back from Duck Creek and the snow did some damage on the bolts on our skid plate and we were desperate to get a quick fix to get back to Vegas. So great! Was on a road trip. What does grandma tell you before hitting the road? Check your oil! Yeah yeah you say - it's fine. Stop worrying so much. It was changed not that long ago. But as I was about to leave and cross the very large desert, grandma got into my head again and said "did you check your oil?" She wouldn't get out of my head! I turned away from the freeway exit, pulled over into a parking lot, and sure enough the oil looked low. What? I really needed to get on the road for the long haul ahead of me and I wasn't that familiar with this particular car to get into adding my own so I stopped by A-1 and they were so wonderful. They had just opened and saw me anyway and had me quickly and safely back on the road even though I was that annoying person who should have planned ahead and had an appointment while I was in the town. I took my JK wrangler to Grease Monkey, formerly A-1 Auto Repair. I was told that the mechanics who worked for A-1 stayed with Grease Monkey and it showed in their repair. I took the Jeep in for plugs and wires which requires removing the intake manifold. They did the repair efficiently, professionally and cheaper than originally quoted. They didn't try to up sell me on additional repairs. I am very happy with their workmanship and customer service, that I will be taking my other vehicle there for future repairs. read more

Honest and respectful service. I read another review about this place and it appears to me that there were other issues with that lady's car before she arrived for her oil change. She also filled the review with 300 words of minutia that had nothing to do with the actual work performed on the vehicle. I have been doing auto repair for 30 years, so I know about the technical aspects, mechanics, and general prices of wholesale auto parts, so I know what a repair entails. My experience with A-1 was professional, prompt, honest and a fair price. The quote was $100 less than Mesquite Auto Repair, where the service is dishonest and rude. Great Service! These guys were great to work with on my Jeep repairs. They took their time to diagnose the issues and we looked at part options together to make sure it was within my budget to fix. I thought the quality of work and the timeliness was fantastic even though I wasn't in a hurry. Although I didn't have any engine work done, I did have brakes and tires replaced and they work great now. Special thanks to Rueben for his attention to detail. I do feel for the folks with a less than favorable experience however as I have been put in those circumstances myself. Arrive when they opened with part of my under carriage falling off. The service mechanic kindly repaired my car at no charge! My hero!!!

I planned a last minute trip with my "adult" son (he is 21) and his fiancé. We own a time share (own-not making payments) in Las Vegas but due to last minute I was unable to book the only week we all 3 had available. So we were offered a week in mesquite. We googled things to do in the area and made the reservation. Twenty minutes before we reached our destination my oil change light came on. My husband said the car is computerized and the oil change could wait if I didn't feel comfortable doing it out of town. Anyway we unloaded the car and headed for the pool. It was during the AWFUL heatwave in June. Temperatures near 120 !!! We are from Portland Oregon and don't get past 90 most summers and that's occasional. Anyway the kids offered to do some shopping at a nearby store so we could start having "adventures" ! Unfortunately my "check your charging system" light came on as they pulled back into our lot !!!!?!! So we checked on line and there was a repair place a mile or so down the road. The Hispanic gentleman was WONDERFUL very reassuring and compassionate and he even gave my son a ride back to our timeshare after we dropped off our car. I asked for an oil change and help figuring out the problem with our "charging system" hoping it would be a quick fix. You should know I had a brand new engine installed not even 2 "oil changes" ago !! So I get the BAD news later that day it needed a new alternator. Between that and my oil change around $700 ($706). Great. They took MasterCard-great The next day we waited to hear from them. My phone had no messages so around 4 I called them. They said it was finished in AM. THEY WERE SURPRISED I HAD NOT CALLED THEM ? They thought I really needed my car ? They called me but did not leave a message. Just called. So we took a cab to pick up the car No one offered same courtesy the gentleman showed us in the beginning A RIDE So told them I would be taking a cab and he said I better hurry they were closing soon. When I got there a boy my son's age yelled at me about taking care of my vehicle??????? I guess leaks everywhere was gist is it ?!? Did I not ask for complete repair(oil change that could have waited and not been $150.) so I requested the core of the alternator because my husband reminded me several times he wanted to take it to our mechanics because we had replaced that just before the engine. Should have been not even 2 years old. When I asked for it again I was yelled at even more that I would have to pay more to get it back (the core wasn't figured into charge -I get that). It was very unpleasant and he acted like it wasn't still in their shop I don't know I just know we spend a lot at landmark ford (Tigard or) and we wanted some answers from our mechanic !!!! Anyway my son finally told me to give up basically and I left saying ok but I want to but it back Dad really wanted it. Sooooo upset I left town without filling the gas tank at Stinky's or Sonesuch name shout out you guys were helpful along with is it Jack the cab driver. Appreciated you Buddy. ANYWAY. didn't gas up so stopped in St George for gas As my son starting pumping gas liquid starting flowing from underneath my car. A lot. Called my poor husband he said to calm down. 1st thing check the water overflow for the radiator. Good to know !!!!!! Anyway reservoir was not only almost empty the cap to it was not tightened and off to the side ??? You tell me how changing an alternator or the oil involves that cap ? It doesn't. I'm not accusing anyone of anything but did make me question the guy insisting I had all kinds of leaks. However my car was left behind the business all my windows down I guess a kid or someone could have done it. Who knows. But treat people nicer find out if they want things (alternator) and don't leave vehicles unlocked. With my 21 year old son driving and not knowing to check the temperature gauge we would have broken down on the side of the freeway with a blown engine.
