Limped to 2 other shops in town via Google and no luck. #3 was my lucky charm and could not have found a better place. They knew I was in a tough spot and got me right into a bay and got busy. Walked to the bank to get $, grabbed a snack and the job was done. Settled up knowing that I would be paying a bit more than usual for a blown plug. I didn't have what I needed with me to do it myself but that's life. Gladly paid the bill and was back on the road in 2 hours. Real nice guys and can't thank them enough. My Dodge diesel truck was shuttering, especially at highway speeds. I contacted Larry, (John's Auto and Diesel), who agreed to look at it the same day. Was told to bring in the next morning for ac charge, got there at 9 and waited 2 hours while Todd screwed around in the shop doing nothing. Finally he checked my ac and it was low. He put 1 1/2 lbs of Freon in for a total of 3 lbs.. I asked to have my fluids checked he said they should be alright and asked if he would check my tire pressure, you should have seen his face. Tried to charge me 300 dollars for 15 min work I told him no way he said ok 200. Rip off repair shop. Stay away! read more

John's Diesel is top notch! We spent several weeks getting to know them and their business! We were heading out of town with our bluebird bus to visit My husbands dad in Vegas who was in the hospital and to go to San Diego as my grandma had just passed away. We got all ready and even got brand new tires all around at the semi tire stop at the flying J (review to come) and the bus blew a huge cloud of black smoke and the engine died! We were on I15 for over 8 hours waiting on our insurance to secure a tow for us. The insurance never could get it towed but thankfully we had done our own calling and had a mobile mechanic come out. He concluded the job was way to big for a side of an interstate. He recommended a tie company who picked our rig up the next day and to John's we went. They told us to go handle our family and we did just that while the assessed and cared for our bus which mind you is our home much of the year! We required an engine rebuild due to the dreaded crank pin! Several parts snd weeks later along with their extremely wonderful hospitality we were back running - stronger than ever! We are so thankful for Larry Landon and the whole crew. Before using this business read the yelp reviews and call NV Better Business. 702 320 4500. There rating is an F and the mechanic does not have a Certification on record with them. These are all things I did not do. I trusted them to repair my vehicle And after weeks of them saying I found the problem and racking up a very large bill, Larry told me I can't fix it. I could drive my diesel truck but not tow my trailer. When Larry got done I had to tow it elsewhere to be fixed. The repair needed was replacing the fuel injector that Larry put in and charged me 100% markup on the price. I asked for the 1200.00 labor charge returned but he said no. STOP!!! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!! We had to tow our truck from his shop back to Arizona. They stripped a bunch of parts off of the truck before they loaded it on the transport. Truck is still broken. Charged 35.00 a day for storage for a total of 3 weeks!! Then charged another 350.00 to put 5 blade fuses in! DO NOT use these frauds. They stole serpentine belt, loosened the pulley's and stole parts off of the truck. It went into the shop for a transmission issue, and they tore into the ENGINE!!! It was a 2013 Dodge Longhorn. None of the fuses were even replaced! The father passed away and the son is running it. He is rolling over in his GRAVE right now, I am sure. Pathetic that he honors his dad this way. I am giving these....I can't even call them people, ZERO stars. Unfortunately that's not possible on Yelp, so one star for them. They messed with my mom's exhaust and then told her it was a rod bearing on her engine. We were literally stuck in their parking lot because we couldn't do anything. Then one of the employees asked my mom to move because they had to bring a motorhome into the shop, but all that day -- no motorhome. They lied to my mom just so she would move, which she could barely do to begin with as her van couldn't even stay on for more than three minutes. Then the owner proceeded to both insult and ignore her today. My mom told him what his employee did and he argued with her whether or not the employee did such - he wasn't even present when the employee fucked around with the car. Then, when all she wanted was a jump so she could roll down the windows - I had to video tape him saying he would - she video taped him then saying and I quote, "You're cute and all, video taping me while I'm talking to you, so no. I'm not going to help you." Then she said she was going to call the police. He then said, and I quote, "Go ahead. They won't do anything, I know all of them." As if he's exempt from the law. We were moving with our combined seven cats and we needed to roll down the windows so they wouldn't overheat while we went to get a Uhaul so we could actually go back home. After saying he'd help us, then refusing to do what he said he would, the owner then threatened to call animal control on my mom - who breeds cats for a living. This is probably the most over priced repair I have ever had, was traveling from California to Idaho Falls and My cluch fan went out, had to have it replaced. The part was originally $300, I was Charged $600. They did how ever get it done quickly, that being said in thier hurry to get us out of there they shorted out our windshield wipers. The wipers were on even if the truck was off and they had no clue how to fix it. told us to pull the fuse and if we hit weather to pull over and plug the fuse back in. I took my car in and asked if they could diagnose what was wrong with my car. The guy hooked it up, shut off the check engine light and told me I was good to go, when I asked what the code was so we can get it fixed. He said you have a lot of codes but your good to go. An hour later as I was driving into Saint George my car stalled on the freeway on ramp, and I was rear ended. And sure enough there was my check engine light I asked him to look at. I ended up taking my car to autozone and they diagnosed it for free for me that I had miss fire in bank 1, that was causing my fuel to be either to rich or too lean, and it caused me to stall. So now I have to fix a bumper, trunk, and the misfire. Thank you Johns diesel for not only risking mylife, but my two young boys. Headed home from Panguitch to Henderson NV driving f250 diesel power stroke pulling a fifth wheel. We heard a sound and lost power, truck wouldn't move from first gear could only go 30 miles per hour. Pulled over called John's Diesel on a saturday afternoon he immediately answered our call, gave us directions using frontage road to get to his shop. John showed up immediately and repaired our truck out on the street. He allowed us to wait in A/C office while fixing. We were thankful he responded on such a short notice and was able to repair our truck. I highly recommend John, he is a good honest person and a mechanic who knows exactly what he is doing. Enroute back home to Colorado from CA, (with another 387 miles to go) our car was overheating about 11 miles out from Mesquite, NV around 10am...(we had damage due to an accident the previous night and the radiator apparently had been damaged) . Stuck on the side of the road waiting for a tow, the first two shops we called were too busy to help and had no advice on other places we could try. We next called John's. They told us they could look at the car when we got it there. New radiator was needed as expected. Even though they obviously had plenty of business, they managed to get the part and get it fixed by closing time. Our Diesel pusher broke down in mesquite. Called For the mobile repair service. The guy who showed up didn't know much about motorhome repair. He left to go get transmission fluid, came back with a beer in his hand, when my husband tried to cut him loose? He said we owed him 350 dollars for the service call. What a nightmare! He had no clue what was wrong with our Coach and tried scalping us for $350. Claiming that was his service call fee. Would NEVER call this place in a jam or not?! We are traveling with another couple and we both having problems missing. We stopped in at this place met Larry whom is John's son along with Landon & Todd. Larry says within a couple hours that we both need fuel injection pumps (we have diesel trucks). He hooked up both trucks to a computer and the computer did not report any problem with the injector pump or the crank position sensor. So in Larrys mind it had to be The fuel injector pump (he charged us each $2400. Called our Mechanic and his charge to replace the fuel injector pump and labor was $1900). I found it very problematic that both of us would need fuel injector pumps . After 3 full days of waiting, we hooked up to our rigs pulled onto freeway same problem, still missing and now worse!!!! We return to the shop at 10:10am he leaves us sitting out on the curb for 2 hours in 100 degree heat!! We are all Seniors! Finally we went to the same campground we had been staying all week. Took the truck back to Larry. Telling him that he probably should've started with the least expensive fixes before going to the most expensive fixes. After a couple more days apparently we needed a new fuel pump for which on Saturday we had to drive to St. George to pick it up and then Larry said to us that he was only going to charge us with the pump cost and no labor with the pump he charged us $400 I call Napa auto-parts my cost for the pump was $231. I called Larry to let him know that the pump was cheaper. oh he says or maybe it's cheaper for the walk in public I said really? His cost has to be probably nearly about $175 for that part . He said he would look into it and call me back that has not happened! He really leaves me no choice I am going to call and make a complaint with the bureau of automotive repair and I'm also contacting the people for elder abuse for exploiting us! I will also dispute the charges on my credit card! He thinks he got away with something and in the long run if he would've just been honest and not been lying to us he could've made a decent wage from us but this way he's going to be fined and he could also be jailed for elder abuse!! My wife and I were quite happy with the help we received here. We were traveling from CA in our RV and had the check engine light come on. John, I believe was his name, was quick to respond and came out to the Desert Skies RV resort where we had stayed overnight unexpectedly. He had us drive to his shop 2 miles away to inspect the problem. We did and when we got there we didn't have to wait a minute. He and his brother went to work running the codes and trying to figure out what the problem was. They also made some calls right away for a fuel pump. I had two kids the wife and our dog so needless to say I was concerned about their comfort while the mechanics worked to troubleshoot. John was super nice and said we could hook up the electrical so we could be comfortable in the RV while they inspected it. read more

We just got back from a 10 day trip from So Cal to Montana and back. On our way to Montana we stopped at a gas station in Mesquite, Nevada and noticed a lot of fluid draining from our engine. It was 111 degrees outside. It was 4:30pm and all shops were closing, someone referred us to Johns Diesel. So happy they did. We drove to Johns diesel (John died a few years ago) and met with Larry and (forgot his name, think Todd) his helper. They diagnosed a bad water pump. We told them we had non refundable reservations at a hotel in St. George, 40 miles away. They stayed after their normal hours to repair our Ford Expedition and had us on our way within 1.5 hours!! A family member offered her shaded yard next door to let our dogs and kids have some shade while our vehicle was repaired. Really appreciated this as it was soooo hot!! Thank you so much to this family run business for all their help!! Just saw some of the negative reviews but that was absolutely not anything close to what we experienced! Thank you Larry and I think Tod and sister that let us sit in her shaded yard!! We are now back home in So Cal and our Expedition had no more issues! read more

I highly recommend this repair shop! My husband and I owned a repair shop for 10 years!! Back in the70's and 80's.. We broke down and could not get the RV going! Called and John's Auto responded ASAP after 5:00 pm there closing time. Told us what they thought the problem ways we said should we have it towed to your shop? The response was no they could get the 36foot RV back to there shop and they did!!! It was a Friday night John drove us back to the hotel and said it would take 5 hours to remove the fuel tank and replace the new fuel pump!!At 9:30 am we get a call the RV is ready to go !! Boy was it ever we went 270 miles made it home and had already gone 1200 miles in it running brand new!! Not to mention they picked us up at our hotel and took us back to there shop!! This was the worst experience with an automotive repair shop I have ever experienced. We had a tire blow out on the freeway in our motorhome. The blow out severed the brake line. After changing out the tire the motorhome would not start. We were towed to johns shop in the evening. We called first thing at seven am and were told by the person rendering phone they were not open yet. Being we were out of town and had to pay for a hotel and had no other transportation we were hoping to get it fixed or awnser as to what was wrong as soon as possible. We checked back in at 10, they still hadn't even looked at it. We checked back in at 2 and were told they were too busy that they would not get a chance to look at it that day. 110 degrees outside, and 2 kids to take care of waiting on these people who kept staring at us standing outside by our motorhome. Cars kept coming in and out of the bays but they couldn't fit us in or even give us the Courtney of letting us know they would not get to us that day. We had it towed from there to the Ford dealership where we got awnser within minutes. Never felt so uncomfortable and ignored in all my life. Worst service I've ever had. read more

In Sept. 2015 my wife and I were passing through Nevada pulling a 5th wheel trailer when our truck started overheating. We exited the freeway and went to John's Diesel Repair since our truck is a diesel. We had some parts replaced and had to stay overnight at a trailer park. A fan belt had frayed and caused a leak to the power steering and damaged wiring to the clutch fan. These were repaired and replaced at a cost of over $700. We were assured it was fixed and sent on our way the next day. A few miles out of town the truck started overheating again. We limped into St. George Utah as the truck was going to the red on the heat gauge. Very lucky the engine was not ruined. We found Pro Auto Care where the mechanic diagnosed the problem and said it was the clutch fuse that had caused the overheating. He replaced the fuse and charged a total of only $40. I highly recommend Pro Auto Care. Great service and very honest. As for John's Diesel repair, they highly overcharged us for the parts and work they did and then did not fix the problem. Our truck was almost destroyed and we could have been left stranded on the freeway in the desert heat. In is inexcusable that they did not check the clutch fuse which is about a 25 cent item. Instead they replaced the clutch fan at a cost of over $400. I do not know if this was dishonesty or incompetence but either is inexcusable. read more

After almost catching fire to my travel trailer, due to dry bearings in one of the wheels, we were stranded between the Utah/Arizona/Nevada gorge. Not fun! Anyway, I called John's for help and after getting towed to their shop, we were met by the guys, somewhere around 3:30ish in the afternoon. They quickly assessed the problem and ordered parts and had us up and running the next day, early in the afternoon. Knowing we were stranded, they even offered us an extension cord, to power up our trailer for the night, so we wouldn't have to go to a hotel. These guys were awesome and we cannot thank them enough for the help they quickly provided and for not overcharging us either. Later on, we tell this story to some friends around the campfire. Guess what, they were traveling through the same part of town, a couple years ago, when their fresh water tank strap broke on their travel trailer. They pulled into John's and the guys were fantastic, strapping the tank securely, to get them back on the road. read more
