Last week was the 2nd time I've called A-1 Garage Doors for assistance with my garage door. The first time I needed a new garage door opener installed. I was very impressed with how quickly they got me on the schedule, how reasonable their quote was and how professional, helpful and friendly they were doing the installation. Last week, my garage door would not go down and came off the track. I couldn't leave my door like this and needed to return to work. I called and they got me in right away. 90 minutes later, they arrived. It was diagnosed and fixed within 30 minutes and he actually adjusted it to close BETTER than it did before. I was nervous about the bill coming in the mail and once again, their pricing was extremely reasonable! If I have garage door needs in the future, I'm a return customer for sure! read more

Did a poor job installing the weather stripping and would not come back and replace it as a 2 foot section was not connected to the frame.

They were supposed to install a garage door and opener a little over a year ago. I was renting out while working in another state. They came, installed the door, had my tenant sign that the work was done, and kept the garage door opener. Wherever that ended up, I am unsure, but based on the pictures from that day that my tenant has, it was not left in the garage or installed. Home Depot was kind enough to provide me with notes stating that they were told this company would come back out to install the garage door opener once I verified there was power. They claimed the garage didn't have power, which it always has and is controlled by a switch near the entrance to the garage. They never reached out to me to confirm any of this information. They now are stating that I have to sue my previous tenant over it rather than fixing what they screwed up initially. Even the garage door that was installed was not worth the price. They bent one of the support bars on the door, and cut out two of the A-frame beams for the garage even though it was the same size door as the previous one that was installed. All of this work was done with no communication to me, and they solely contacted my tenant. My tenants name and information were only supposed to be used to contact regarding access to the garage, but apparently this company decided it was okay to make all decisions through them despite my name being on the bill. The individual answering phones at the front desk was unprofessional and decided to answer any of my questions with "That's between you and [my tenant]". They also stated if this was months ago, instead of a year, that they would be able to do it. So what is the difference of months vs. a year? I can only speculate that it's because they don't have the same model opener and don't want to deal with Clopay/Home Depot. Terrible business practice, unreliable, and untrustworthy. Prompt service. No hidden installation costs. In time appointments. Fair prices. I have used A1 personally for over 20 years. My former employer used them on my recommendation for all over thier OH door issues. I assume they still do. A1 is a local company for me and I always try to use local businesses when possible.... Also when a service call turns into a door replacement or opener replacement they don't charge for the service call. read more

The young guy that came out was so sweet and professional. His parents should be proud of him 21yrs old but looks like he is 16 or 17.I almoat wanted to ask him.if he wanted to join us for breakfast. I felt so comfortable with him .I almost forgot he was in my garage. I would recommend him to anyone. I didnt even think they would show up that fast. Awesome read more

My garage door is, shall we say, a vintage model, so when it came crashing down last Wednesday, I was sure I was in for a long wait and hefty bill. The spring/coil had snapped, also causing both steel side cables to break as the door slammed down. I live in Franklin, so a quick Google search for garage door repair companies on the south side lead me to A-1 Garage Doors, and I'm glad it did. I called them when I got to work that morning and spoke with Carol. She was as pleasant as could be, and when I explained what had happened, she was able to provide a quote over the phone, and arrange for a technician to be at my house between 9:00 - 9:30 am the next morning. She also was sure to tell me to look on the company website for a $15 off coupon! Awesome! The technician was professional, experienced (he has been working on garage doors for 30 years), polite, on time (10 minutes early, actually), clean, and had the door repaired and fully tuned up in no time. The bill was consistent with what I had been quoted, which was incredibly reasonable (my dad's brother has a garage door repair business in northwest Indiana, and he verified that the work was fairly and honestly priced). Overall, I was just happy to have my garage door working again, not to mention within 24 hours of it breaking! Combine that with the fact that the price was fair, the people were nice, and I even got a hand-written note in the mail yesterday thanking me for my business, and A-1 has earned a customer for life. These people are as good as it gets. I have worked with them for at least 30 years. They have always provided same day service. Most of my calls have been about a broken spring or opener enhancement. They show up, define the problem, provide a quotes, and get to work. They use the most premium parts available for the situation. They adjust the the door, tighten the fixtures, and never try to upsell the opportunity or try to fix something that is not broken. The closest they ever came was telling me some parts are difficult to get due to the age of the door but still found a repair solution. They installed 2 door for my mother in law at to my recommendation. They did a spontaneous urgent repair for for my sister in law upon my recommendation, and they provided service to my mother and dad. They have provided service to me at least 6 or 7 times The only thing you must know is that if you are entitled to an identity discount be sure to tell the call taker when you schedule your request. read more

Worst customer service I've ever had to work with. The owners always had an excuse on why they couldn't come out and do the repairs I requested. They blamed the problems and reasons for not coming on another company or because another job slowed them down, and they struggled with communication to resolve our issue. What a lack of respect as a business to business partner. If you can't complete a job that is subcontracted out to you, contact them back and ask them to sub out the job to another company because your unable to perform the service. Frustrating.
