We hired A-1 to repaint the exterior of our home in 2016. The job looked good for several years and I remember them doing a professional job. They didn't break anything and cleaned up after themselves each day. Unfortunately, several areas that they painted have started to peel and blister now. I'm certain these areas were not prepped adequately, minimal scraping, no sanding, no primer, etc. I'm disappointed with the durability and longevity of the work. We won't be using them again and would not recommend. read more

I hired A-1 on the advice of a friend that had nothing but good things. At first it seemed Mr. Lim's company was as good as I had been told. A month later when the paint on my eaves and fascia boards all the way around my house. Painters were sent back out. Mr. Lim tried to say it was my old paint that was causing it. Then we told the primer that was used was not allowed to dry property which was what was causing the blisters. Still cool stuff happens, right? Another month or so goes by and I have blisters again in different part of the eaves and fascia. Painters come back out again. It's at this point I ask Mr. Lim since the job was obviously not done right the first time and could he please redo it and make it right so that we did not have to continue doing this every couple of months. He guarantee me it would not happen again. Well today July 26, 2018 the painter is back. This time my whole front door is peeling, there are more blisters. On the front door you can clearly see NO primer was used. The blisters are in different areas than the first, second and third time. This is the 4th time they have come out for the same issue. I have asked and asked to please just make it right and redo the eaves and fascia. Mr. Lim refuses and says if it happens again he will fixed it. All I'm asking is to make it right. He has admitted this is very unusual and it shouldn't be happened which again leads me to It wasn't done right the first time!! To make matters worse I've been calling the office for 2-3 weeks with no return calls. The only way I was able to talk to someone was I happened to save a cell phone number and called that number otherwise I don't think they would have called me back or taken my calls. It's very sad to have such a highly referred business not return calls and not take care of a mistake they made. P.S. not to mislead anyone I never actually talked to Mr. Lim. He can't be bothered to talk to me. Everything has been relayed toward by either Chris or Gloria. I would not recommend A-1. read more

I own my own home and a few rentals and A-1 is always one of my favorite contractors to work with. They're always on time. They're always thorough and respectful on the job. Their costs are competitive, and their service is top notch. What's great about A-1 is that there is no job too big or too small. I had an air conditioner in my wall that I wanted removed and then knew I needed to repaint the wall. They removed the air conditioner (!), patched the wall, and then painted the wall to match the exact interior AND exterior colors. We have used this company at two of our houses. The first time we joined with 10 neighbors in using them to paint the exterior of all of our houses. We all have roughly 3,000 sq ft houses, stucco with wood eaves. They did an excellent job of prep work, with two guys spending an entire day per house in prepping the house for paint. The second day a crew came in and painted. They masked and drop clothed and just did a perfect job - at every house out of 10. The second time was to paint the interior of a rental house we bought. Same experience. Meticulous prep including stripping old paint and masking, even paint coverage, thorough work and complete cleanup. In each case we had three bids. Wow these guys are awesome! We have a 4 bedroom two story town house. 1900 square feet I think. Mr Lee sent Mazda and Ivan. These 2 guys worked for 4 days with only a small lunch break each day. They patched every hole, moved all the furniture, and covered everything in plastic so nothing we owened got ruined. They were kind, helpful, and very hard working. The price was very reasonable. Very disappointing customer service. We were excited re-turning customers but Mr Lim was late to our bid/estimate appointment and he ended up arriving at the same time as another competing vendor. Instead of knocking on my door, he chose to leave without any discussion. Apparently he didn't like seeing other competitors arriving to bid the job. We just had A-1 Painting paint the exterior of our house. They did a great job. The guys were very nice, very professional. They patched and fixed all sorts of little cracks - some I'd gotten so used to I hardly even saw anymore. They did a great job of taking down lights and outdoor speakers and put them all back up when they were done. They were also good to our plants. The house looks great. The stucco and trim are all beautiful. We're very pleased - and as a bonus - A-1 was one of the less expensive quotes that we got, but they're reputation was good so we went with them. I can't say how disappointed I was with the job this company did on my house. Despite taping down paper everywhere they set up all their equipment on my bare concrete. They spattered paint on my all over my patio table, seat wall, and dripped it on my concrete. I have spent days cleaning up their carelessness but most won't come off. They trampled ever plant in my beds and snapped branches off my trees instead of tying them back. The guy doing the power washing did such a bad job and they just painted over the dirt and cobwebs. They wanted $550 to replace 5 trim boards (less than $100 in wood) They crushed my gutters and their clean up was poor. They sprayed the front door instead of using a brush. In the end it cost me $3,500 for a 2 story 1600 sq house. For this quality of work that is very overpriced. Never EVER again! Do your homework, get references and use sites like Angie's List.
