We've used Universal Painting & Coatings to paint the inside of different houses we've lived in and the outside of one house. After shopping for pricing from a few vendors, we chose to go with them for our most recent exterior paint and we are very happy with the result. Our house turned out beautiful. One thing to note is that the original quote had painting under the eaves the same color as the house, as opposed to the color of the trim. I didn't notice this at first and I think this allows them to quote the job at a little lower price. So make sure you decide what color you want under the eaves so you can get an accurate quote. read more

Where do I start? Overall, extremely happy with Universal. Jeff (the owner) did an initial inspection and provided a detailed formal quote. His price was higher than some other local outfits, but is worth it. He presented himself well, did not try to BS me, listened to my concerns, and gave some very constructive advice on colors and finishes. He has a good eye and obviously a lot of experience, so I appreciated the help. Preparation was extremely thorough. Have a 1960s single-story stucco house (about 2,200 sq ft) and the crew spent three full days doing prep work. This is the most critical part of any paint job and it was top-notch. Masking was well done and tarps were placed everywhere to ensure the only surfaces painted were what was supposed to be. The crew was always on time and very professional. They used Dunn-Edwards paint. Stucco and eaves were sprayed, and fascia boards/trim/doors brushed or rolled. Coatings were evenly applied and there are no thin spots/missed areas visible. I'm very picky about contractor work and Universal did not disappoint. Highly recommended! read more

He answered any questions I had and stayed afterwards to chit chat which really sold me on having him do the job. Five stars all around! Wanted to get exterior painting done for our home so I reached out to several companies for quotes. Jeff (owner) came out that same day to look at the house and was very timely with the turnaround for our proposal. We ultimately decided to contract with Universal and we are so happy we did! Jeff and his team helped refresh our entire exterior paint in September. The scope of work covered fixing/repairing/patching ALOT of old wood rot under the fascia, on multiple door frames, and also fixing some very old dingey paneling on the house. Universal painted our 2-story 2,700 square foot house (stucco, siding, trim and porch), plus a couple of metal gates. The three-person crew did a great job on the prep, which included quite a few small holes and several feet of stucco repair. They worked with our needs to manage our pets, i.e. they moved our temporary dog fence out of the way and back in place, and were careful to leave the gates closed every day. They handled a few special requests, including a solar roof vent, some new bare metal, and our bat house. I was very impressed with how carefully they tarped and masked the entire concrete area - not a stray drip anywhere. The results look great! This is not our first experience with Universal. I had an excellent experience with Universal. Jeff came on time to provide an estimate and answered all my questions. I didn't feel like he was trying to dodge the hard questions or give me answers I wanted to hear. I got 3 estimates for painting our exterior and Jeff's was in the middle, though they were all pretty similar range. I chose Universal because I felt comfortable that they'd do a good job. We scheduled for a few weeks out so I had time to pick the paint colors. His team picked up the paint and determined the amounts. Jeff told me the crew would show up between 7 and 8 on that Monday and they did. They continued to show up at 7 all week and would even let us know when they were done and leaving for the day, which I appreciated! They also didn't make assumptions and asked before doing anything that wasn't agreed to. I am very particular so I love that they did this! They even worked with me to create a custom backplate for the new house numbers that I bought. It turned out fantastic! Seriously matches the vibe of the house and looks very professional. The guys worked quickly and efficiently. The lines are clean and the paint is adhering well to all the surfaces. They did stucco patches where they said they would and they blend in to the surface. On the last day we walked through and I pointed out a few areas that needed touch ups. They fixed them no problem. I feel so happy every time I drive up to the house now. It looks brand new.
