Low estimate and high charge....nonresponsive to phone calls.

UPDATE: After a great first experience with A#1, I had a terrible experience the second time. In particular, I requested, and was told, that Todd would do another installation for me. A different crew showed up and did a miserable job - the gutters were installed in a poor fashion, and they damaged the fascia on my house. After a botched repair attempt (by the same lead installer), matters were just as bad. It took several weeks for the company to get Todd to come by and repair the damage - he actually spent more time fixing the damage than it took the crew to do the (second) botched installation. If they guarantee Todd will do the work, then you should be in great hands ... but otherwise I would avoid this company. read more

It took over 3 weeks for them to arrive to fix a leaky end cap. They spent 5 minutes on the roof and the problem still wasn't fixed They promised to send somebody the next week but it's two weeks later and nobody showed. Absolutely stay away from this business! read more

I would like to preface my comment with saying I am from the home service business. I have never written a review, simply due to the fact that in most cases I have an excellent experience. Here is the story: I called into #1 after reading all of the reviews. I had a chance to talk with Taylor (Office Manager), I expressed the fact that I would like to have the owner come out simply due to the fact I was considering Copper Gutters which are very expensive. I wanted to have confidence in their ability to install them. Taylor was initially pleasant. Later in the week Mike (Owner) came out to meet with me. He brought a new trainee and all was fine. They did their estimate and Mike assured me they could do the job in accordance with my schedule with painters ect. 3 days later, I called into the office to schedule the installation and talk about the price quote I received. It was about 20% higher then 2 other companies. I asked if they would work with me on it. No one in the office had the ability to make a decision, so 2 days later we received a revised invoice. The invoice had a 5% reduction on it. My wife and I agreed this was fine. 2 days after that I called into the office to finalize and schedule as well as to go over the details for the project. I elected to go with a standard gutter 6" however I had a contract for my painters to paint them after install. During this call Tiffany answered the phone and said, "don't have your painters paint them. Gutters need a special paint we will take care of them for you. Just send us the paint code. I asked is there any additional charges for this. Tiffany replied "no". I expressed my appreciation and thanked her for letting me know it creates a much easier schedule for me. About n hour later, I receive a call from my wife. She called to ensure they had the right colors and confirm scheduling. She was told, that now painting was not included and there was an additional cost to take the gutters off. All in totaling an additional $1486.00 in addition too $2104.00 for the Gutters. Obviously, I gave them a call to be sure I did not misunderstand something. I spoke to Taylor, she told me she has been overseeing my account and continued apologizing for the changes versus what our agreement was. In addition, she said Tiffany was new and must not of been trained correctly. I expressed my dissatisfaction and communicated the fact I would write a review and it would end one of two ways. 1st, the company stood by their word and did exactly what they agreed too training, communication aside. I refered to this as the right thing. Or 2nd, I would write a reveiw sharing the outcome. So they chose #2, on Tuesday this week Taylor said she would get back to me and be sure either Mike or her manager called. Well, I have not heard anything. Another company called Gutter RX came over, and is doing the same job, with better insurance for a total of $1700.00 A note to the owner, focus on training and ensure your team does what you promise. I just had gutters installed today. The whole process was painless. Scheduling was prompt, the representative Steve came soon after my first call, did not reschedule or no showed ( a miracle for the area). The colors suggested were perfectly chosen and the installation went without incident. All of the above without me missing one hour of work and not being present when Steve came and chose the proper color. I had to modify the proposal and the changes were immediately updated and communicated to the installing team. As the team was present, a neighbor knocked at my door to ask me where I found this company and I ANSWERED ON YELP! And that I was recommending A#1 seamless gutters to her. read more

A#1 installers were great once I was able to get an appt scheduled. After rescheduling my first appt, they never called back to reschedule and I had to track them down to schedule it. After the job was done, I tried to give payment to the installers who said I would get an invoice from the office. I finally got it 3 weeks later and when I called to pay it was told there was a $30 late fee. I explained that I had not received an invoice until now, but the office manager insisted one was mailed (to the wrong name) and emailed. I offered to pay for the service, but not the unwarranted late fee and she refused to deduct the late fee saying "they don't have time to contact customers about open invoices". I ended up mailing in a check for the services without late fee. I would not recommend them strictly for their poor customer service and follow up. Again... the installers did a good job and were done quickly and picked up everything behind them. read more

A-1 Seamless Gutter Solutions was recommended to us by a company that installed a new roof on our home. We scheduled an appointment for an estimate to get some soffits repaired and replaced. We agreed to the quoted price and the work was scheduled. After the company canceled several appointments to do the work we finally agreed on a date. When the worker arrived, he walked around our home and then got in his truck and left without ringing the doorbell. When I called to complain, the office staff stated that the worker tried to reach us, but he claimed no one was home, which was a lie. She had the worker call me and he admitted that he didn't try to contact us. He said he left because the job was more complicated than the estimator had represented to us, the quote was too low and they would need to order additional materials which they didn't have in stock. He said he would call me to reschedule at a future date. It has been two weeks and I have yet to hear back. We found another company that did the work within a week of our call. read more

The price was competitive and their response time was adequate. And the gutters, once installed, look very good. There seemed to be some details that were missing. Like placing the front down spout in the middle of the mulch, which only helps to wash away the mulch. Perhaps they could have suggested that we buy our own drain pan to redirect the water. And as far as rain barrel installation goes, if you supply your own barrel, they are not much help. read more

I am posting this to warn prospective customers that our professional experience with A-1 Gutters is extremely negative and we would highly recommend that people use someone else. A-1 installed gutters on one of our brand new office buildings. They installed the gutters incorrectly which caused substantial damage. When we informed them of the problem they responded with a continuous string of denials claiming such things as the building was old and in bad shape. This clearly wasn't the case since it was new construction and the initial installment of gutters. In short, they are dishonest and do absolutely unacceptable work. Underground drainage installation was terrible. Left mounds of dirt all over my yard and left it dumped on my paver sand for another project (ruined $$$ worth of paver sand); cut my cable/internet line (onus on me to get repaired); had to insist they come out to clean up the dirt which took over a week - paver sand still ruined. Did not do the installation as agreed; length was short by 5-6 feet of what I paid for and not extended to the curb as agreed upon during survey; drainage line has no gravel/sand base and was not packed securely in the ground - crew simply dug a very shallow ditch then threw the tubing in the ground and tossed dirt back on top. lightly stepping on the line sinks 6 inches into the ground. LOW-quality job. I will have to completely re-do the underground drainage system myself or pay another contractor to correct. Customer service (Marnie) refused to send a supervisor or manager out to inspect the work. Completely unacceptable - would never recommend this company. They couldn't care less - made the mistake of leaving a check for the crew on first day of work prior to installation as I couldn't be present for work. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

We had our gutters replaced by A#1 Seamless Gutters a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier with the entire process. Their estimator was knowledgable, courteous, thorough, and didn't try to up sell us on any unnecessary work. Of the three quotes we received A#1 was the lowest and, based on the meetings with the estimators, the company I felt most comfortable choosing. They installed new gutters around the entire home (we only had partial before), cleaned and sealed the super gutter above the pool, and added some additional drainage at our request. The new gutters look fantastic and after the heavy rainstorm earlier this week I saw a huge difference in the drainage. Job well done, A#1! Great experience! Everyone is friendly, consultation (Paul) is professional, office staff (Don) is friendly and efficient. Installation staff (Jonathan and Jonathan) are quick, clean, friendly and helpful. I only have compliments for this company. Very glad we chose to work with them. I'm a real estate developer and used A-1 for gutters on a new building and have had terrible problems. When I wrote a negative review about A-1, they hired an attorney and threaten a law suit if I didn't remove my review. Well, A-1, there is the First Amendment. In my opinion, any company that threatens legal action because of a negative review should not be trusted. Furthermore, based on my experience with A-1, I would never use them again nor would I ever recommend them. read more

I replaced the roof on a rental property, and the roofer recommended this company for the gutter work. Ugh, maybe they do great work for the roofing company, but this was the worst experience I have had in years with a contractor, and I spent a career as a commercial property manager. They got out promptly with an estimate, which I approved, and a plan for the work. Then, zero communication with regard to scheduling despite repeated calls from me. I drove by the property one day and there was a few of their guys there. They started by complaining about the job and telling me all the problems they thought they had. I suggested that we call the sales guy who came up with the original plan. They didn't like that idea. I went home to get his number and when I returned, they were gone, having removed some (but not all of the gutters). When I called the next day, nobody seemed to know they had walked off the job, or why. It took over two weeks to get them back out. When they removed the gutters in the back, they left a HUGE hole in the wooden fascia board and basically told me it wasn't their problem. They were rude to deal with, unhelpful, slow to respond, you name it. Any bad quality in a contractor, they had it in spades. I called my roofer and advised them against ever recommending this company again. I just wish I had checked Yelp before making the first call to them. read more

We had our gutters installed several years ago and recently one of the gutters has separated from the wall of the house, is now twisted and sagging. For two weeks we have been trying to get someone to come out and the office keeps giving excuses why no one can come out. Today the repairman called and said he was coming to "clean our gutters." When I complained that he had the wrong information, and that we had been waiting for 2 weeks, he informed me that he wouldn't come if I was "mad."
