Anyone who is a homeowner in Florida knows how abysmal the insurance situation is here. My house was built in 2002 and still had the original roof, so I've known for a while that I've been on borrowed time. Citizens sold off my policy in November, which I knew meant my roof's days were numbered. My policy renews each September in the height of hurricane season. And because I didn't want to wait for the new company to make me replace the roof, especially during the summer, I decided to bite the bullet and get it replaced. I got quotes from four companies, and Trust Roofing gave us the lowest price for both the roof and the gutters. Since my in-laws needed a new roof as well, I asked our salesperson Gavin if we could get a discount if they did both houses. Gavin lowered our price by $800 - and also included a free solar attic fan (which normally costs $1000) if I mentioned their Facebook ad. They got me on their schedule within a week, and installation took just one day. The next day, they installed the new gutters. The project manager kept in touch with me via text (since I couldn't easily answer the phone with my baby in my arms), they provided a link that showed photos of the progress in real time. I noticed the attic fan wasn't there, and it had apparently been overlooked because it hasn't been checked off in the contract (but was written in). They quickly installed it once I mentioned it. They cleaned up everything very well and we passed our city inspection with no problem. It was such a seamless process. With the invoice, I could either pay with my checking account information, or with a credit card. We chose checking so we wouldn't have to pay the 3.5% credit card fee. Overall this was such a painless experience, and I would happily recommend them to anyone who needs a new roof.

I would not recommend this company. Owner followed up and acknowledged that his crew did an extremely bad job.

All the other companies told me that we needed a new roof when in reality we only needed the flat roof repaired.

I ask your forgiveness in advance for the length of this review. I knew my roof on the Florida…read moreroom needed to be redone. No leaks yet but I believe in preventative measures and I work 3 jobs so I was in a good financial position at the moment to pay for it. After reading reviews, I called Alvarez. I made an appointment for Omar to come out and check out the roof. It was immediate evident that Omar really knew his stuff and I trusted him. He took his time explaining things to me in detail, answered questions as appropriate and even provided some insight into the origins of the company, etc. He and I had a verbal understanding of the price. When I got the written estimate, it was $200 more than quoted and I was ticked but I understood that the price was for the permits. I got over that hiccup relatively quickly. I took time off my second job to drive to the company to get my signature notarized. I still do not grasp that step. Why I couldn't get the notarization done at work, fax in a facsimile and mail the original with delivery confirmation is beyond me but hey, I missed work and did it. I also requested that cleaning gutters be added to the contract because that is what Omar and I agreed upon verbally. This was added. The contract was in pretty simple language that even I could understand. At this point I'll take a break in the story to tell you about the only other roofing experience I've had and that was about 10 years ago in Dayton, Ohio. The workers showed up before I left for work, spoke little English and at night, the crew was (I kid you not) on their hands and knees crawling around with magnets cleaning up the debris. The ground, ladies and gents, was spotless. I had nothing but praise to tell their supervisor the next day. Those guys were great. Returning to the present, I assumed that the experience in Dayton, Ohio would be duplicated. So price and gutter work aside, a date is set and on that fateful morning, I take my dogs to my ex-husband's to babysit while the roofing on the Florida room is done. A cursory glance when I get home from job 1 to get ready to go to work at job 2 and I know they have been at the house and gone because the debris from the gutters is laying on the ground. I didn't mind this originally because I was going to burn it anyway. I go to Job 2 and I just can't stop the nagging feeling that the contract that I took time off work for to drive to their office because they just had to have the contract notarized did say that the area would be cleaned up. Again, I'm thinking it's just debris that I can burn so why this feeling? The following day in between jobs, I take a closer peek and find pieces of roofing, two nails, bits and pieces mirrored glass, I guess for lack of better words. I immediately get angry. The price and the wording was one thing but I knew there was no way I could have misunderstood what was clearly written in that notarized contract. The mess should have been cleaned up. I emailed the company and when I say that the owner wrote me back in less than 30 minutes time, I am seriously telling you the truth. I picked up on what Omar had told me on that first day.. that the owner really does care about this company of his. He referred to the owner as 'El Maestro'. It was obvious that this company is his pride and job. He offered a discount which really wasn't what I was looking for. I just wanted the job done and if the guys left a mess on the ground, what does that say about the job they performed on the roof? All I wanted was the owner to come out and look for himself. Yes, the work is guaranteed for seven years but I didn't care... I wanted the 'El Maestro's' opinion. He came out, checked out the work and assured me that the job was right. He was quite apologetic. I'm pretty confident that his workers thought I wouldn't say anything: they took a chance and lost. I'm 100% confident this isn't the first time they have pulled this stunt. The tough thing about having your own company is that you have to more or less babysit your workers because let's face it... those workers don't have the devotion to work that YOU do. I would gladly go back to this company because of how the owner treated me. He could have blown me off but it was obvious that he cared about my opinion. I think a periodic, surprise visit from the owner during the actual roofing process would cure the lack of cleaning up exhibited by the workers. And because of the owner's pride, I give this company five stars.

Mr. Augusto could not commit to a specific time to meet that day. We stayed in touch with him throughout the day and finally heard he'd be on his way at 3pm. When we initially contacted him he requested $100 to do the estimate. He explained that the fee was required as we did not yet own the property although we did have an agreement of sale. When he arrived, he became annoyed at my husband because the home inspector's report was difficult to for my husband to pull up on his phone. It was 68 pages long. My husband tried to point out that the entire roof needed to be replaced based on our inspection report. Mr. Augusto never went up on the roof to look at it. When we inquired him about hurricane mitigation straps he blurted out - The price of the roof is $20,000 and includes everything. He never offered to mail us a detailed written estimate even though he took $100 in payment for coming. He accused my husband of being disrespectful because they tried to converse at the same time. He yelled at my husband "look me in the eye and show some respect man!" We have done renovations on our stone colonial in PA for 18 years and never have we had such an interaction with any contractor. We were stunned to say the least!!! This review speaks for itself as to why we gave a 1 rating.
