Bought a fireplace insert 4 years ago. Insert is great! Electronic remote control broke (small wire connecting to 9-volt battery). Company has apparently been acquired by a company named "CAPO" & moved to Park Avenue in Chico. Couldn't connect with either company by internet or phone. The store owner is great he scheduled a home visit at no charge. However, the technician arrived and said you shouldn't have turned on the insert I have to come back once it's cooled down (nobody told me in advance). The tech said he would come back either later that day or the next and call me in advance but he hasn't shown up nor called several days later. He said most likely the flame height cannot be adjusted any higher. Valor Stoves is essential committing fraud by printing brochures showing the flame height at at least 50% higher than the maximum allowed by certified technicians installing it. My rating is superior for the A-1 Stoves owner and inferior on the insert itself. read more

When we bought our house in 2012, we had an outdated pellet stove we removed. I ordered a pellet stove and everything to install the stove myself. I worked with Fred and paid for the stove and all of the parts. Went to pick up everything. I was told that Fred had gone somewhere to try to get some of the parts that I needed for the install. Fred came back and never told me that he didn't get the parts that were backordered and Fred never told me that he didn't have all of the parts and was going to let me take the stove anyway. I said no but decided to pick up the stove anyway. Know one told Fred I was picking the stove up and Fred was know where around. I feel that once the sale was made that he just did not care anymore. I have been in the customer service business for 40 years and have never treated anyone like Fred is treating me. read more

They were able to deal with fixing a faulty install from the builder of our track home. The new insert works as promised and looks great. They arrived on time, cleaned up their mess and were great to deal with. Not sure what the previous review of just "decent" was about! We would rate them far above just decent. read more

I almost attempted the installation myself, but am so glad that I chose not to. Ed and Joe took the extra time to make sure everything was just right. They cleaned my brick hearth, which looks brand new. Ed's experience and craftsmanship helped give me a custom install that I will be proud of for years. I am so disappointed in your business -ship. I called you guys about my blower and the fans not putting out any air. You said there's a service charge but it all would be taken care of. The guy came out. Went up to my chimney(said he cleaned) which was cleaned just previous to winter. Did not clean ash out of back of fireplace. He checked the fans which were froze. He said he unfroze them but they still were not putting out any air at all. He said my boxes were pretty big in there so I can get bigger fans and he would go back to shop and someone would call me within a couple days. I would just need to cut a bit of Sheetrock back which is fine and easy to do. Nobody called for weeks so I called in and was told each fan would be $180 and would be small so wouldn't put out air. I said the guy that came out told me I could get bigger fans. He said Oh, I will talk to him and call you back..He NEVER called me back. It's been a month. To think I was going to come in and get a wood stove to put in my fireplace from there..Not anymore!! If I'm not worth your time you def are not worth my dime!! I am giving bad review to all I can..Terrible, I am so upset!!! read more

Every November I have A-1 come out to make sure my fireplace insert is ready for the winter. They are always on time and so thorough in their work. This year Jacob Knight came out and he thoroughly cleaned and arranged the logs in my unit, fixed a wire that had become disconnected and made sure everything was working perfectly. My unit is pretty old and we talked about how unattractive it was. I asked if he thought I could get a new face for it. He completely updated the look of it by removing the ugly gold trim and repainting the whole face. It looks and works just great now and I couldn't be happier. read more
