After…read morereading several terrible recent reviews about the condition and management of the park, I decided it would be best to stay elsewhere. Before cancelling, I reviewed my reservation confirmation, which clearly stated that cancellations made more than 30 days in advance would receive a refund of the deposit minus a $35 booking fee. Since I was well outside the 30-day window, I called today to cancel. I was told the campground is now under new management and they are not honoring any previous policies or agreements, so I would not receive any refund at all. I explained that the recent negative reviews were the reason I no longer felt comfortable staying there. The person I spoke with simply repeated "no refund" and then hung up on me. Very disappointing and unprofessional customer service. Be aware before booking here, especially if you expect them to honor their written cancellation policies. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

On the grounds are a baseball field, water park, walking trail and playgrounds. There is no camp host or "security" but local neighbors walking the trail say it's a very safe area. Nice residential atmosphere. You like the sound of trains at night ? You'll love it here! If that noise or the slight fragrance cow dung offends you, don't stop. The easy in and out plus adequate parking is a plus. I expect during baseball games the lot may be temporarily congested.

The grounds are beautifully maintained, the sites are attractive and well-kept, and everything feels thoughtfully cared for. A special thank you to Kristy and Angel, whose hospitality helped make our stay even more enjoyable. They even stayed open a little later than normal to welcome us after a long day of traveling, which was greatly appreciated. The campground may be on the smaller side, but it is absolutely bursting with thoughtful touches. The bathrooms were spotless and stocked with real paper towels and quality toilet paper--small details that did not go unnoticed and really enhanced the experience. We also appreciated the two pet areas, along with several sites that feature fenced-in play yards. The back sites are especially charming, with nice grassy areas that add to the relaxing atmosphere. The freeway is nearby, and while you can hear some traffic noise, it was not bothersome and certainly did not take away from our enjoyment of the campground. Everyone we met was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We wanted for nothing during our stay. Saying we liked this park would be an understatement. This KOA not only lives up to the KOA standard--it exceeds it. We would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

Got the camper all set up and was settled in for the evening. We got a knock on the door and the guy says this is his spot, he had reserved it online yesterday. Okay no problem we packed up and moved our camper. No argument from us. My question is why didn't the day workers mark the spot as reserved? Also there were stickers everywhere in the grass, we had to scrape them off of our shoes after walking In or out of the camper. When walking the dog we stayed on the pavement. Other campers were complaining about the same issue. This was not a good experience for us!

Eagle canyon is a unique lodging area on the other side of the dam on Lake Mcconaughy. We usually…read morestay at the beach houses right across from Martin Bay, but we weren't able to secure any spots there, so we went with the only available area for a group of 10, and Eagle Canyon was it. Based on other reviews and the photos I was able to set my own expectations for the trip. I knew our cabin, the lily pad would be tight. But it was just my husband and two little kids. Our cabin was narrow, but still had a semi-kitchen. Mini fridge, stove up, small bathroom, and a bunk bed + full bed in the bedroom then a futon pull out. My 6'4 husband had to sleep on the futon because he was too tall for the bedroom, but that was fine by me because the bed was actually really comfy. Overall, we spent almost no time in our cabin. Our in-laws had a butterfly cabin which is very similar layout to the lilypad, and my mother and father in laws cabin was the eagle, so it was bigger. They had a full fridge so we stocked a lot of food there and they were a bit more secluded. The cabins we were in are tucked in between mobile campers so we started with a lot of neighbors and then they left over the week and it was just cabins. Now, onto the amenities, they have a general store with a lot of what you might need if you forgot some food items and drinks, including alcohol. They had beach toys and stuff for kids. The staff was SUPER nice and really friendly. The play ground was nice, they have basketballs for the court, and we enjoyed the pool, it was really perfect for toddlers not sure about teenagers. On our favorites was the pony rides on Sunday, our kids really enjoyed that. It was a really unique place to stay for 3 nights and I enjoyed getting all my steps in going back and forth. There is a trail to walk close to the beach. If you don't mind the 30 mins daily drive to the beach its a good place to stay.

We stayed in the Eagle Cabin which was very comfortable and perfect for what our family of 3 needed. The bed was comfortable and towels were very nice for a camping cabin. The only slight complaint/feedback I have was that the kitchen items could have been in better condition but it's a small cabin and understandable that they're kind of bare minimum. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the entire area and overall respect of the property and other guests. The pool wasn't exactly first class but the kids LOVED it and had a blast. Very friendly service. The location was OK- a bit of a drive (10 Minutes to the nicer beach) but we would totally stay here again and highly recommend. (I also want to add that adjusting your expectations is helpful- I looked at some of these reviews and honestly, You are signing up for a camping area in Nebraska- not the Ritz. We have been to beautiful spots and airb&bs and we're pretty picky so this was exactly what we signed up for- a fun low key family camping adventure)
