Stopped in 8/5 Monday at about 4:30pm. Had every intention of buying a new car from A1 that day because they had vehicle I wanted. Got out of my car to look around the lot at the new vehicles. Not one person came out to see if I needed anything. So I proceed into the showroom looking at the few new vehicles inside for at least 15 minutes. Again not one person approached me. But plenty of people scattered behind desks just watching me and they appeared half asleep. So I went back out and looked at the cars again. Thought I'd give them a 2nd chance to sell me a car. Nobody. Nada, zilch! So got back in my car and left. Not to return to A1. They lost a sale. I will be heading elsewhere searching for a dealership with actual customer service! Had an appointment here at 12pm to buy a car, arrival time 12:01, got to check out the car shortly after arrival. And then the waiting began. We waited from 12:30 until they called us to see the finance guy Josh at 1:30, we had some concerns about the docking fee and Josh abruptly sent us out to talk to a person in sales. We had our answer in two minutes and then resumed waiting. So now we are waiting again to finish the paper work at and it's 2pm. Very unprofessional place, if you want to wait around for hours when you're spending 60K on a car, absolutely come here, you'll get the DMV treatment before even getting a car. Toyota corporate, if this is how these guys do business maybe it's time for a re-training about making customers wait. The dealer explained that the people with an 11am appointment got here at 12pm which caused the delay. What business accepts a client coming an hour after appointment? One that wants money and doesn't care to make people who are on time wait. Disrespectful to mine and my friend's time. Def hope to never purchase from this Toyota again. Excellent experience servicing my Prius at this location. On all occasions I have either spoken to Heather or Amanda (both exceptional customer service reps). The wait times tend to be longer but I love their process: video walk-thru by the mechanic or technician of your car and the option to pay or decline the services via link. Plus free coffee, time to read a book or take a walk while you wait for your car. Just wish wait times weren't as long is my only issue. Wrote this on Google, and now I'm writing it here! Another update: I got into a car accident early February, and decided I wanted to take my care here to get fixed (I have a brand new Toyota and wanted to be sure I went somewhere that would understand my car more). I was told by the man I made my appointment with on the phone that I would be receiving a complimentary car while my car is being serviced and that he is putting in the reservation for my rental car for me. The next week (Feb 11), I drop off my car and was told by the woman behind the desk that THE RENTAL CAR IS COVERED BY TOYOTA and I WOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING AS LONG AS THEY ARE SERVICING MY CAR. I get down to enterprise and the worker is having a hard time finding the reservation, so he decided to get in contact with my insurance and places the rental with my insurance. I was annoyed that the rental reservation that I was guaranteed by Toyota wasn't in the system, but since it was in the middle of my workday, I decided to just deal with it later. I thought 1. my car would be fully repaired and in my hand within the 30 days or 2. If it took longer than 30, I would just call A-1 and request that they put in the request for the complimentary rental that I was promised. This past Monday (March 10), I get a call from my insurance guy telling me my 30-day rental is going to be done on Wednesday. I told him no biggie, I will just call A-1 to get an extension since I haven't heard from them since I dropped of my vehicle a month ago. I call A-1 the next day to get it arranged, and a person who says he just started 2 weeks ago informs me that I wasn't entitled to a rental due to the fact that I'm at fault for the car accident. I explain that I wasn't told this information, and I was told by two previous workers that my car would be complimentary. It sounded like the newbie was being fed information because I can hear someone in the background telling him what to say. I don't care! Your workers provided me with false information from the beginning, and for you to not stand on your work is sick. I give you almost $10,000 to fix my damn car and you swear up and down about giving customers quality service. I'm a single mother, work in Hartford and have to provide transportation for my child to get to daycare and back. How the hell and I supposed to juggle my life if I don't have a car? It's something called integrity. You cannot say one thing and then take it back. AGAIN, I'm paying thousands of dollars to have you repair my car, and I find out a day before that I will not have a car to drive for the foreseeable future. I cannot afford to rent a car out of pocket. Either you finish my car and give it to me immediately, or I will continue to tell people to never visit your site for any services. My wife & I purchased a 2022 Highlander Ltd last week (Feb 2022) from A1 Toyota. Although we had previously had a vehicle serviced there, this was our first A1 purchase. Given COVID19 era Supply Chain issues, we went into their West Haven showroom with relatively low expectations. We met a Sales Agent, Emerson Macavinta, within 5 minutes of arrival. He spared us the classic "Car Sales" spiel and quickly got down to the specifics of what we were looking for in our next SUV. First of all, I've been bringing my Toyota 4runner To this dealership for about a solid year recently I just decided to do my own oil change and what I discovered underneath absolutely blew my mind the replaced the stock bolts with items that do not belong on a Wirkola. I'm looking for a new Toyota dealership now besides what I've noticed they've actually done further damage by removing some of the bolts, and not returning them to the proper place, or removing some of the panels, and just discarding them.... If you have a problem with them just sue them in court . That money they have to pay the lawyer a retainer fee won't last forever. They damaged my car to the point my engine had a seizure when they were supposed to repair it. They even told me they damaged it and then lied in court under oath. I even caught them in a couple lies during trial. I lost because my judge was not only a racist but she was a former Toyota client and chose not to recuse herself and in small claims court the judge makes the decision and not a jury at least in Connecticut. read more

Previously I had leased a 2018 corolla from Colonial Toyota I left there so unhappy and feeling ripped off. It was time to trade in or buy out, my salesman at A1 Toyota quickly talked me out of that as it would have cost me more to do so. He got me into a 2021 Hybrid Corolla, (this car gets 52 miles to a gallon WHAT?) with rebates and my outstanding credit there was no down payment, also included is life time service, my first payment was taken care of through the rebate/loyalty program and they threw in a remote starter. This was by far the best deal in all my 47 years buying and leasing cars, no haggle, no BS just the best deal ever! My wife and I went to A1 Toyota to look for a new Toyota Highlander, which had been recommended by a friend. When we entered the "showroom" there were no vehicles on display, just a slew of spread out tables and chairs. A receptioist took our names and invited us to find a table and sit. We did so, and after about 15 minutes a salesman came with a sales intern. We asked the salesperson to show us a Highlander so that we could determine if the size was suitable for us. The salesperson explained that the company required him to go through visual display featuring the merits of buying from A-1. I said this is useless if the car is not suitable to us. He insisted that he was required to show us the visual aid and to explain the many merits of A=1. Thee presentation took about 1/2 hour and then they left us to "speak tp the manager". After a 20 minute delay with no return of salespeople we decided to leave. They caught up to us outside the building and brought us to a Highlander. We sat in it and it was immediately apparent that the vehicle was much too large for us. We had wasted an hour for jibberish about the quality of the A=1team and we found the quality of service sorely lacking/ I would advise anyone seeking to buy a Toyota, or any other car from A=1Toyota to go elsewhere, as they have no cars and will waste your time read more

Couple weeks ago, I went to A1 Toyota to swapped wheels with another Toyota owner. We both had new 2021 Highlanders with less than 500 miles. We didn't buy the car there and I was out of state. Initially, the dealership was going to charge us $30 each to swap the wheels, but was going to charge $250 per car to reprogram the tire pressure sensors. The dealership said it would take 30-60 minutes for each car to program the sensors. We decide to go to Monro Tires in Guilford to program the new sensors, which they did for free. When the dealership finished swapping the wheels, they waived the fee, which we appreciated. I found out later reading through the owner's manual, the 2020-2021 Highlander have the ability to reprogram on its own through certain settings. There was no need to pay for this service. The A1 Toyota's service representative never told us and probably didn't know. You would think a service manager would know their product. read more

I have had some rather mixed experiences with A-1 Toyota over the years. I have taken my car in for routine maintenance multiple times. I typically have friendly and courteous employees helping me who give me recommendations on what services are necessary and which can be left off to save money. Their waiting area is fantastic. The internet is great and there's even a quiet waiting area where you can do work without having to listen to whatever they have playing on TV. My most recent experience with A-1 was questionable at best. I took my car in for a 45k mile visit and was quoted $250-ish for service. This seemed high to me, so I asked for an itemized receipt, which they could not provide. I ended up leaving and scheduling somewhere else that quoted me lower. The next time I got a call from someone else at A-1 who said that the person who helped me was "confused about what you wanted" and quoted me $59. I initially agreed to come back, but was quite frankly very uncomfortable that when I went back to A-1 Toyota they would end up changing their tune and asking for more again and ended up canceling. I would say that the vast majority of my experiences with A-1 Toyota were great, but this most recent was very questionable. read more

Service department has a bad attitude and is blaming me for a difficult recall repair. We were told that the safety recall repair of our 2018 Highlander the earliest time was in 3 months. The repair would require my vehicle to be at service all day. And there is no loner and I pay for a rental car. I bought a Toyota because they are safe and don't break down. Now our car might break down on the highway and a part must be replaced. Toyota has known about the problem for months, they can't fix problem for months and I'll be stuck without a car for a day. A very new, modern set-up, but I've had a couple of experiences with them that left me cold. First of all, it's nearly impossible to speak to anyone on the phone - one has to go through an elaborate phone tree and then usually have to leave a message. this brings me to my second complaint: they're very hit or miss on returning messages. Last time I left one, they never called me back. Prior to that it took them a week. Lastly, the people at the service counter may be very competent, but I don't feel that they listen to the customer to assess what the service problem is. I had a key replaced for my Prius, but they didn't probe to ask whether it needed to be re-programmed, etc. As a result I now have a new key, but the one that I lost is still viable. If I wanted a completely DIFFERENT/new key, I'd have to purchase another one and then pay for the programming. An expensive mistake. Part of this is because it's all very rushed. read more

Went here and test drove some cars. After driving the cars, they gave me a number and said it was the best number they could do and I wouldn't be able to beat it. I proceeded to another dealership, and the sales consultant told me the number was extremely easy to beat. I contacted A-1 Toyota and they advised me they offer one price only and can't match/beat it. Long story short, use this place for a price and go elsewhere. They will say they can offer you this and that, but write it all down and other dealerships will typically match it or offer the same exact specials on top of beating A-1s prices. read more

Not only was I sent to several people & told different things, but given poor directions of where to go (as if I worked there!). when I picked up my car, it was left in THEIR parking lot with the passenger window down; I was not happy for a few reasons. I went into the dealer because I had a squeaky noise coming from the rear window. They couldn't find the squeak. So a young mechanic about 18 years old went for a ride and he heard the squeak. This was while the vehicle was still under warranty. He went for a ride with us . He heard the squeak coming from the window. And he said to me it's a minivan they're going to make noise. Two years later The squeakgetting worse. But now it's too late because the warranty is expired. Thanks A1. I'm sure they will fix it if I pay them now. Also lifetime oil change is a bunch of bull crap. They put in the cheapest oil they can possibly find. We recently purchased a car from here a couple days ago and it took over five hours to complete the process. We had an appointment and the car was ready to test drive. Between all the people that we had to go threw it took us a long time to finally leave out with the car.
