Since there were many new cars available recently at this dealership's lot, we thought we would take a quick perusal of the inventory. The salesman was friendly and not too pushy. There was a wide variety of colors and styles currently in stock. While Nissan may be a preferred style for certain people, there was nothing really outstanding that appealed to my friend. Do you want to buy a car or truck at a fair deal from friendly staff? Then don't go to George Harte Nissan. I can confirm the bad reviews are accurate. George Harte Nissan uses bait and switch tactics to get you to come into the dealership. They offer internet prices at a discount off the MSRP which is already high. However, they don't specifically tell you that you need to finance. Customers have to read through word salad terms in fine print which is confusing to the customer instead of being straight forward and transparent. The sales manager asked me to come in and look at a Nissan Titan, and he'd appraise my car for a trade after receiving a low-ball offer from his aggressive and confrontational internet saleswoman. He also said he'd clean up the truck for me. I drove almost 100 miles to the dealer. He didn't clean up in the truck after having it parked in the grass and mud for God only knows how long. There was grass and mud all over the tires and wheel wells. Furthermore, there was cosmetic damage to the right rear fender. Customers expect new vehicles to be in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition upon presentation which the sales manager failed to do so. The sales manager threw about 5 pieces of paper in front of my face with 5 different prices expecting me to buy it when it was a mess and with cosmetic damage. You can keep the lousy truck for all I care, because no one wants to buy or pay full price from a dickhead that can't even clean up the truck right, fails to accurately represent the vehicle, doesn't care if you're there or not, and doesn't appreciate the time and money I spend to visit the dealership. You should cut me a check for the gas, wasting my time and the wear and tear on my car. NOTE: The sales manager also failed to disclose buyers are eligible for a $1500 incentive under the the Nissan Loyalty program if you have a Nissan in the household with a valid registration. I have never had such a horrible experience before, this place is so unreliable and the dealership makes a lot of half-assed promises with little value to their integrity. The workers are ok but there was one specific worker, Ken, who made the experience so incredibly painful I was genuinely shocked! George Harte is as good as the extent of not having any issues. We are on vehicle number four which all have come from Harte - first purchase around 2003. The sales guys are always great but of course they will be since they want to make a sale. The service guys have always been mediocre. Our latest purchase was a brand new Nissan path finder in March of 2014 and has had issue after issue - the last being a major electrical issue that took three weeks and four trips to the dealer to fix. After becoming very fustrated we finally escalated our dissatisfaction with the level of customer service. The only resolutions we were offered all came in the form of us spending more money to either purchase a new vehicle (my truck is a 2014) or purchasing an extended warranty at a cost of $3000. We asked for a meeting and although we were told it could be held at our convenience they refused to meet on a weekend. Needless to say we are stuck with a vehicle that has had multiple major issues without a peace of mind and no cooperation from Harte. A Nissan dealership is as good as the customer service that comes with it and stands behind its product. I will purchase another Nissan but never from Harte. Buyer beware - Harte is not loyal to it's customers. Please don't take this review lightly as this is my fourth car from them and the service didn't start to go downhill until my 3rd car, even though there were some warning signs after my second purchase. Once you have a big issue, they want to pawn you off to Nissan Corporate. As you can see below, she didn't mention that the "new" car comes with 24 more months of payments than I currently have on my current deal and the reason why I don't want 24 more months is that the customer service has been a little shady which she has yet to address. It's funny how they will do all the leg work to get you in a car (e.g., secure loan) but when I have a problem afterward, I have to contact Nissan. The truth of the fact is that the service/people here have been on a downhill turn. The 3rd car that I currently have had a rim protection that I pay for monthly and they were willing to sell during financing, but when I had an issue with the rim and it needed to be replaced, service had no clue how this worked and I received attitude from Justin when I asked for a loaner as they wanted to hold my car with no resolution date. I had to go into the GM's office to get a loaner which was a maxima (poof! they have something bigger than an Altima all of a sudden). After my office visit, the service manager treated me like royalty when it came to my maxima. He is now gone along with GM and now to no surprise Justin is the new service manager. It's funny how I requested all my service invoices for my pathfinder visits and have yet to receive them or get any resolution on the customer service issues from Erin but she had time to respond to this review. They care about their name and bottom line only, not the customer. Great job Erin Touponse, make George Harte proud! Oh and don't take their auto body recommendation of going to New England Collision. That place quoted me one price and when job was done, it was a higher different price without ANY notice. I purchased a use car from this dealership. When I got there the photos didn't show the actual condition. They agreed to fix a dent in the car, but I had to schedule another day to come back after I signed the paperwork. I was told the car was detailed, but I found a rotten onion stuck in between the seats. They indicated the would replace a missing tire stem and didn't. I was told they replaced the brakes for safety reasons, but I had to have them replaced at my cost due to low cost terrible parts used. Beware of the false truths they tell. What a waste of time this morning at George Harte Nissan. I had a 10 AM appointment and was to ask for Justin or JOE. Which I did when I got to my appointment someone else who never said his name sat with me ... he took my information and left me sitting for at least 15 to 20 minutes while he had my credentials. This man seems very edgy and nervous and talks very fast and wouldn't let me ask my questions just cut me off with his responses and kept saying that I really wanted to buy the Sentra and with no other options when he came back with the price it was a crazy amount over $300 a month when now I am paying 200 a month. I told him my monthly payments and he said if I could commit today he could see what he could do about the price. I told him I was trying to get prices to see if I wanted to switch which I guess that's not enough promise him.. like hello I had an appointment. I am looking to buy. Finally I called on Wednesday and asked to speak to my salesman Mike to ask what the status was on my loan because I never heard back from anyone. Tried to buy a used Sentra from them in April 2021. Car could not be released due to Nissan recall concerning brake lights. We were told the car would be ready in a few days. We had to call them to see if the car was ready and were told again that a few more days for the part to come in. Several calls and emails during the month of May and the part still had not come in. I don't blame Harte for not selling the car because of the recall, but I do blame them for not returning calls, not replying to emails and horrible customer service. I graduated from college in May 2012 and was starting graduate school in August 2012. I needed a car and decided to try Harte Nissan in west haven. First time I went there all the sales people came off very pushy. They suggested cars I was not interested in just so they could sell it and pawn it off to someone. I got referred to their used cars department which started the worst decision of my life. I got persuaded to purchase a 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5s for $15,000 with 64,000 miles. I had noone to help me so I took what I thought was a deal. I went there for my first oil change and got charged $90 when it was supposed to be $30. I complained to one of the sales people I knew personally and he approached the service mechanic. The mechanics said and I quote "she has a state job she can afford it". I was so upset and since then I refused to ever go back to George Harte for ANYTHING. Now here comes the best part. I decided to trade in my car because the new models of the Altima just got released. I found out from many dealerships and cartrader.com that my car is only worth $6225. So in exactly one year my car is not even worth half of what the deceitful and conniving sales people at Harte sold it to me for. Now I will be paying $6000 extra when I am done paying my car off. The car should have been sold to me for $11,999 not $15,000. Please do not make the mistake I made. Never go to any Harte dealership. read more

George Harte Nissan is by far the worst customer service I have had by far & all of them are straight up liars. I went in 10/7 to purchase a used car. I was told I couldn't drive the car that day because it just got there and needed a safety inspection. I was fine with that, was told I would get a text with updates on the car & if everything was good with that, as well as the bank approving me. I never got any updates from the dealer who I was working with, (Sebastion) I had to constantly text him about it and ask because he just never updated me. Once I was finally able to go test drive & "sign" for the car as he told me I could, Sebastion didn't come in. I went anyway, test drove the car & told them I did still want it. I was told by Sebastion the car will have all new tires and they were going to fix the scratches on the front bumper. The guy who let us test drive it (Tim) wasn't even sure it went through inspection cause there wasn't a sticker, however Sebastion said it did so I took it for the drive, and when I got back to sign, I was told there is no title for the car so I now have to take a dealer plate for probably a week. There was still someone else's belongings in the car, as well as their home address in the GPS. The front bumper looked like someone did a terrible spray paint job over the small scratches and none of the tires were new. Once again I text Sebastion and let him know they didn't even change the tires let alone clean the car. He tells me send a photo of the tires, sent a photo and was told to drop it off and take a rental car. Service told me I'd have the rental for about 2 days & id have my car back. They didn't call about my car for 2.5 weeks. Finally I get a call about my car so I go in to drop my rental off & sign for my car. My insurance somehow screwed up on the same day it was started, and the woman who was friends with the dealership working for insurance never fixed it like she was supposed to. Therefore this resulted in me sitting at George Harte for 5 hours dealing with insurance and while sebastion decided to go focus on other guests instead of getting everything ready for me . When I said something he tried to blame the entire thing on me even though he knew what was going on as well that my phone wasn't working and I needed to use one. After that day I still couldn't take my car because apparently now the insurance wasn't going to be active until midnight, so the finance manager Ken said to me he'd be willing to have someone bring the papers and car to my job so I can still sign. I had to decline as I am a waitress and wouldn't be able to sit and talk, ask any questions or properly do the process. I get myself a free 2 hours the same day he offered to have someone show up at my job, and text both Sebastian and ken about coming and and signing where neither of them decided to answer. The following day, after a day & 1/2 Ken texts me telling me my approval expired. So he had me sit there for 5 hours to not let me know if it wasn't done that day or the day after I'd have to redo the whole thing. After arguing with ken through text message where he tried to blame me for everything that was going on including not being able to come in, when none of it was true as they were the ones constantly rescheduling my appointment, ken ignored my last text where I asked him why my credit was being checked 3 days prior when I was already approved WITHOUT my permission, 6 extra times. So now once again I went in because I wanted answers, which nobody had any for me. Then ken tells me I was never approved for the car! So basically they let me take the car home and a rental car without being approved even though Sebastion said I could come and sign for it lol . I ended up not even taking the car because they told me I would now have to put an extra $1000 down . The entire time ken blamed everything on the sales manager. Also told me I needed to leave because I was giving him an anxiety attack because I was asking him the questions he ignored. He also told me he was not obligated to answer my texts because it was his day off, even though he was trying to have me come in/send someone to my job that same day. When I went and talked to the sales manager, all he did was blame ken. Meanwhile Sebastian didn't answer any texts and was selling cars the entire 3 weeks he decided to not call me about my car. I was so patient and understanding through the entire thing, even with them not even cleaning the car like they're supposed to especially during a pandemic & I waS told I would be compensated for all of this, also a lie & even more reason to not do what they're supposed to. Ken also claims him & sales have no communication with each other LOL makes total sense . The place is extremely unprofessional, so rude & I STILL have yet to get my deposit back from this place, 2 weeks later. read more

Mine had major issues and was just out of warranty, even though mileage was very low and vehicle was properly maintained and kept in pristine shape, inside and out. Dealership did not seem to care at all. Nissan corporate offices reviewed case and rejected responsibility for major transmission issue in a car with very few miles on it. Will NEVER buy another NISSAN again ever. Would never buy an Infiniti either. Pay a little more and get a decent vehicle whose manufacturer stands behind the vehicle. I just got a response to my complaint from Erin T at George Harte. Here is my messaged response to her. The problem was not about the terms of my financing. I was pleased with my financing company and how they dealt with the financing. In fact, George Harte harassed me into submitting additional applications to banks that I did not want to submit. So it is NOT about you being able to get me approved for anything. I was NOT pleased with the way Joshua Spoerndle treated my partner and I. I was not pleased with the way he spoke to us, the way he assumed that we did not understand the financing process, that he told us this "is not a charity" as though I NEED a car. I don't. We were not pleased that he would not admit that he was being rude. We were not pleased that we were asked to leave even though we were right in the middle of discussing the deal. If you'd like to address those issues, I'm all ears. In the mean time, I am still submitting an op-ed to the New Haven Register. Thanks for nothing :-) read more
